Plants arrived crushed to compost

I spent a total of £28 ordering 5 echinacea. I opened the parcel as soon as it was delivered by the courier; four of the five plants were unrecognisable having been crushed - literally fit only for composting. One was OK. I immediately contacted Parkers and sent photos of all the plants, showing how four were completely ruined. I hoped for an understanding response from their customer services. What I received, fairly promptly, was a reply that said
"it is normal for perennials not to look their best at this stage....we advise you to plant them up.... and advise [us] further if they fail to come through with new growth in the next 2-3 weeks."
I was also advised that I could return the plants for a refund - presumably with me paying the postage cost
(having paid the postage cost to receive them in the first place).
I replied to say I was unhappy with this response. The photos clearly showed that I had received one good plant and four pots of mulch. Their response ignored the different states of the plants received. Surely they should be sending me four replacements? No further response was received from Parkers.
So what's the moral here? Probably 'don't buy plants by mail order from big suppliers at their busiest time of year.' Parkers is a well known supplier and I have seen their full-page advert in Gardener's World magazine. The plants were carelessly potted, carelessly packed (in line like a train rather than with the pots next to each other) and the initial customer service didn't seem to care too much either. I was looking forward to receiving the plants and was very disappointed.

UPDATE
Following my review and intervention by Trish from Parkers, I've received replacement plants - thank you - somebody does care after all! The replacements had been packed in the same way as before, but four had survived the trip well, one less so but will be OK.

Perfect for a patio set

Patio set. Web site easy to navigate, great product at an excellent price (more than 30% cheaper than local retailers), delivered just when you said it would be. Only one word sums the it up - perfect.

Nice jumper, grand prix delivery

Nice jumper, correct size, delivered incredibly fast to UK by DHL. I'd like the product to have been slightly heavier because it wasn't cheap, but I'd shop there again. One observation - the labels say it was designed in Iceland, but I can't see where it was actually made.....

A considerate and helpful driver

A considerate and helpful driver who helped carry the item indoors. It looked like he was taking care of all the parcels on his van because he spent some time after strapping them in and securing before setting off for the next delivery. Which is better than a different courier company recently who managed to drop a radiator in transit, breaking the packaging and bending it. Our Kinetic driver looked like he was taking more appropriate care, thank you.

Good service

Items delivered when they said. Package was damaged in transit and some items missing. A phone call to Machine Mart and replacement parts were sent sooner than they initially said. Sadly, I didn't realise at the time that more parts were missing than I originally thought.
