‼️ Warning to future customers – possible SCAM ‼️

I rented a car from 1rentacar in Marbella from October 8th to November 27th, 2024, and paid a €400 deposit, which they promised to refund upon returning the car.

✅ I returned the car in good condition.
❌ It’s now been over a year, and I still haven’t received my deposit.
📞 Every time I contact them, I get vague excuses like “it’s been forwarded to management” – and then silence. No follow-up. No refund. No professionalism.

This is not just bad service – this feels like intentional fraud.

Avoid this company at all costs.

Fradulent company. They first refused to pay me back my deposit similar to other people here.

They have now charged another card a measly 35 EUR, as a way of scamming me 6 months later when I am not in the country. Just because I forgot I paid the cash fee with that card rather than my other card.

This is a shameless bunch of thieves. Avoid avoid avoid! Please contact the police and authorities in Spain in any way, shape or form you can.

If we make enough noise we can hope these people are barred from running this illegal business.

Apparently this company also operates under the name 'Marbella Car Rental'. Strange website, pay directly, no option to pay on collection. No response to email. It smells like a scam. Of course we did not rent a car here.

Ovoid at any cost! Worst ever experience of car rental. I booked car in advance with full insurance cover 0 deposit. When I arrived to the office they asked for additional 350 euros deposit, even their T&C say no deposit with full cover. Then they asked to write on pice of paper my long card number with security code. I explain my bank not permitted to write security code. They were shouting at me, very rude. Refused to give a car even I paid foe it and refused to give me back signed by me contract. I am renting cars foe over 10 years, never had anything like that.

We booked a car with pickup at 01:30 at Malaga airport but 1rentacar didn’t came. We tried to reach them by email and 3 different telephone numbers but that was impossible to get in contact in the middle of the night. We waited about 45 min and them we took a taxi.
The day after we got different explanations why they didn’t came to the airport and they were not able to give us another car.
Very bad customer support!
The summary from 1rentacar was that even if you have a confirmed reservation, you are never guaranteed a car!!! You can therefore be left in the middle of the night with a reservation but NO CAR!

I have had the same experience with 1Rentacar as numerous others who post their reviews here. Despite assurances that they would return the 200 Euro deposit promptly, I am still waiting for my money. I will now take legal action, as this is apparently 1Rentacar's business model in view of the many fellow sufferers here. Pete

Rental Car hire itself was fine; however, when I received the car I had to pay a deposit of 800 Euro, which was directly charged to my master card. Upon return of the car, I was told that my deposit would be returned within the next 2 weeks (this was end January 2020). However, it took the company almost 10 months, and me an endless number of follow up phone calls and emails, to finally get the 800 Euro deposit transfered back to me. A good rental company will make sure that deposits are not charged at first (just a reserve) and if charged, should be returned immediately.

This company is a scammer company. They don't return your deposits. I have been chasing them for the last 8 FREAKING MONTHS to give me the Eur 350 back. Nothing! Lame excuses and saying they already paid it back. I can see my statements online, 1Rentacar, ok? You have not returned my money! Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!! If you want to know who I am, 1Rentacar, ask Christina at GALP. I have been messaging her for the last 5-6 MONTHS nonstop! Ridiculous. Are they using "Corona" as an excuse not to refund, I wonder? Very angry customer. Regret doing business with them! And "Thanks" Christina for FREAKING giving me LAME one-liner excuses, and barely replying to my non-stop WhatsApp messages.

Stay away from them, they never refound your depozit. We are waiting for more than 1 month now for the depozit, and they say the same things over and over again, that they forward your claim to the accountant firm.
So be advised, don`t work with them!

Terrible experience. Gave us a crap car although they promised a nice one. They never returned our (600 eur) deposit. Even after calling and emailing many times! STAY AWAY

This is an absolutely ridiculous company. First- Our car arrived with scratches all over broken bumper etc. Second it broke down on the highway where the speed limit was 120 ! I had my baby in the back it was the most dangerous situation! Firstly for it to break down on the freeway then for us to be stranded on the hard shoulder for over an hour while these people who speak no English asked me to sort it out myself by calling the pick up company. It was dangerous we could have died. They then had the audacity to tell me to pay for the recovery vehicle after telling me this would not need to be paid for. The. They delivered a second car which does not lock. This is a scam from my point of view - cars that don’t work and don’t lock so you have to pay over the amount you rented it for.

1RENTACAR IS A TERRIBLE COMPANY!

We hired a car at 1Rentacar from April 20 until April 24 with insurance total to cover potential accidents and had to pay EUR 300 deposit. Unfortunately we had a small car accident which was not our fault. As told by the Marbella office we only should call their general number +34902005199, but this phone number is still not reachable until today. With the counterparty refusing to fill in a car damage report, we visited 1Rentacar as soon as possible to show the minor damage and were refunded only EUR 150 deposit when we returned the car two days later. Unfortunately there is a big lack of communication from 1Rentacar. We had several phonecalls and send several emails, but most of them were unanswered and when they replied they only mention to wait until the insurance will give an anwer which we still did not received after 6 months.

We rented a car two months ago and paid for the total insurance. They told us that we will receive it back within 1 or 2 weeks. We never heard anything from them from that moment. We called about 8 times and everytime they told us that there are problems but they will transfer the money today. WE NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING! After getting irritated on the 8th phonecal they hung up while I was talking!! Do not use this company if you want your deposit back. My contract number is: 280625738

Terrible company . I Paid for total full insurance on top of car rental and they said the car will be fully covered for everything . The car was badly damaged from outside already upon collection with dents and marks all around .
I had a small dent on the car and now they want to charge me for this even though I paid extra at the start already for the full insurance. They cheated and deceived me

After 6 weeks of returning the car I am chasing 1rentacar / Golf Service Car Hire / SolAuto who ever they are for my 1000EURO deposit !
Same as the other reviews. When you write them, they tell you they have a problem with their paying system, they provided the information to the accounting department,...... tons of excuses !
I'd like to personally enjoy my money instead of a company holding it for me for weeks and months !! It's not normal that you have to beg to get your money back !! It should be automatically given back after few days. Poor and bad customer service. The phone numbers don't work or they hung up on you. Through emails, the answers are from templates ..you feel like you speak to a wall !!
DON'T EVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF RENTING A CAR WITH THEM!

This company is also called SolAuto Malaga. It does not return the deposit! After returning the car, the contact stops and the deposit is not refunded!

I hired a car at Malaga through this Company. The car was in a very poor condition and it was easier to identify damaged parts of the car than non damaged so no check was done on the car on return. I paid the requested deposit of €300 and a full month later I am still awaiting this refund. I get no reply from my emails and will now pursue this through my credit card company. I cannot recommend this company.

Actually it is a good company. The car I got was a Toyota verso with 45.000kms and it was in a very good condition. Some
minor scratches but the guy took pictures (I did too of course)
Regarding the deposit that seems to be the only problem I was told by a friend who recomended this company to pay it in cash.
In this way they would return it on the spot when you come back. And it was like that.
So my recomendation PAY THE DEPOSIT IN CASH. They also encourage this.

In common with many other reviews, my experience with this company was a disaster. Having picked up an old battered car at Malaga airport, I was asked to pay a deposit of €400. Having returned the car a month later I chased and chased for return of the deposit, in keeping with other customers I was given all sorts of excuses why it had not been repaid. After a month I asked my credit card company to do a charge back and finally had my deposit repaid - do not use this company.

Just a terrible company to deal with, we rented a car at the end of 2018 for 10 days. Upon arrival we met an employee and went through the paperwork, they said there was a deposit to pay - no problem at all as that is usual when hiring a car. All went fine with the rental and we returned the car on time no issues. The problems started when we returned home, the 5 days passed in which we should have been refunded our deposit so I called the company and they spun a tale about their system being down so I needed to proved different bank details for an international transfer which could take a few more days. Another week passed and once again no money was returned, I called and emailed on a regular basis over the next few weeks to no avail - each time a new story was spun as to why no money had been returned.......
The only thing that eventually worked (9 weeks after returning the car) was to sit and email, call and whats app the company constantly for a few hours - thus blocking up their systems. I got the money back within 24 hours of this.
I also know that the company lied about their systems going down (as you will see on many other reviews on this page) as my father returned his car to them 2 days after I did and got his money back straight away - he was a long standing customer of the company and they specifically wrote on his contract 'pay back immediately'.
I can only assume the company was taken over by scammers in the 2nd half of 2018 as before this date we never had any issues with them.
