1 of the greatest player

I've changed to this player, because much more simple than I used. Play everything. The only thing what I am missing is the mouse & keyboard assignments. (i.e. 1 click on the picture START/STOP function, 2 click FULLSCREEN, etc.)

5kPlayer Works Flawlessly on Windows 10

The 5kPlayer is a slick video and music player with hardware assist. It also downloads videos from YouTube and other sites. For those who enjoy a hint of edginess and humor, the software is from a company called DearMob, Inc. After you get the software, go to the 5kplayer.com website, click on the Support tab, and select either the Windows or the Mac User Guide page. There is a wealth of information on how to use the software.

The installation of 5kPlayer went smoothly on my Windows 10 version 1709 Dell Laptop. I downloaded a video from YouTube easily. I played a WebM video file from a different location on my computer. I also used the convert function to strip the audio track from an MP4 music video and save it as an MP3 audio file. I was especially impressed with the way that 5kPlayer delivered strong volume, high quality sound to the speakers on my laptop.

The 5kPlayer app also has AirPlay technology to display your iPhone or iPad screen on your desktop computer. It has DLNA technology to allow the streaming of video and music from your computer to an Adroid TV, smart TV, or another DLNA enabled device. I did not test either of those two functions.

The only disappointment I had was discovering that DearMob apparently has removed the video conversion function from this free program. When you select a WebM format video file in the Library view and click it once, an expanded display appears. This display lists the file's encoding type, resolution, and run time as well as the file's location. On the right is a button that says "Convert" with a drop-down [v] menu. Clicking on the [v] symbol gives you the choice of converting the file to MP3, AAC, or MP4(H264). If you click on convert to MP4(H264), you are driven to the 5kPlayer website to purchase another program. I am still happy to rate 5kPlayer as 5 stars because it performs its play and download functions very well, and it is free (thanks, DearMob!).

Astonishing Product!

5k Player has an amazing range of options. It feels like it has five programs all rolled into one. No flaws, although I don't use it as often as I once did. I hope it continues to grow and thrive!
