I've been using Acorns since '15

I've been using Acorns since '15. I think it's an easy way to enter the market in an autopilot way. Their imaginary of your acorn growing into an Oak is spot on. Them adding functions over the years like "earned cash" where if you spend and buy from their partnerships, it's like credit card rewards or employer partnership discounts. Basically, cash back to invest in the market for items you were going to buy anyway! Also, I absolutely love that NYC accented squirrel in last year's marketing campaign. Please keep that up; adorable and humorous.

$20 a month grows over the years

We started just putting $20 dollars a month into acorns account. Over 2-3 years it has grown to about $3500. It is great to have a place that will invest your money and teach you about the market too. We highly recommend.

Because I was unable to access my available funds, several scheduled payments were returned, causing bounced payment fees, possible overdraft charges, and late payment penalties. This situation has created unnecessary financial stress and may also affect my credit and banking history if not corrected promptly.

Not being able to use money that was already in my account has directly affected my ability to meet my financial obligations on time. I would appreciate an immediate explanation, reimbursement of any fees caused by this issue, and a prompt resolution

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am extremely disappointed with Acorns’ referral program. This has been a very frustrating experience.

You put in time and effort referring people to their platform, encouraging others to sign up, and making sure they follow every step correctly, only for it not to be recognized. That is very discouraging.

I referred someone using my personal referral link, and they followed every required step exactly as instructed — signing up through the link, completing identity verification, linking their bank account, and making the required investment. I also have screenshots confirming their account is active and fully set up.

Despite all of this, the referral does not appear on my account. When I contacted support, I was told the referral link was not used, which directly contradicts the proof I have. This points to a likely tracking issue, yet instead of properly investigating, the credit is simply denied.

On top of that, the time it takes to receive referral payouts is extremely long. Waiting over 40 days for a payout, especially when there are already issues with tracking, only adds to the frustration and lack of confidence in the process.

What makes this even more concerning is that I know someone else who experienced the same issue. Two of their referrals did not show up, which caused them to miss out on qualifying for their bonus—even though all steps were completed correctly on their end as well.

At this point, it raises serious concerns about the reliability and transparency of the referral program. It is frustrating to do everything right and still not receive the promised credit. Situations like this make customers question whether the system is truly dependable.

I would strongly advise others to be cautious when relying on Acorns’ referral promotions. Based on this experience, I would recommend considering other companies with more reliable and transparent systems.

Irrelevant Response to a Serious Allocation Issue

The response was irrelevant and failed to address a serious issue regarding how my funds were allocated. I clearly outlined a specific discrepancy between the amount I deposited and how those funds were actually invested based on my selected allocation percentages. Instead of addressing this directly, I received a generic explanation about market volatility, which has nothing to do with the concern I raised.

This is not a performance issue — it is a question of whether my deposits are being allocated correctly according to the instructions I set within the platform. When I calculate that approximately 42% of my deposits should have been invested into a specific holding, and only a small fraction of that amount was actually allocated, that raises legitimate concerns about how funds are being handled.

I expected a clear, transparent breakdown of where my money was invested and an explanation for why my allocation settings were not followed. Instead, the response felt dismissive and did not engage with the actual problem at all.

This lack of a direct and relevant answer raises concerns about transparency, accuracy, and overall trust in how the platform manages user funds.

I used Acorns for over a decade

I used Acorns for over a decade. This is a great investing app when you're just getting going. Highly educational, easy, and great returns on their passive portfolios. Once you're investing much higher dollars it's probably worth going elsewhere for tax loss harvesting and more financial planning, but as a place to get going in your investing journey I couldn't praise Acorns more for it's simplicity and dedication to mission.

Acorns is holding my money hostage

I put nine thousand two hundred dollars into my Acorns account. That was the mistake I have ever made. Acorns found something with my account and they will not let me take out any money. I have sent them all the papers they asked for times. All I get from them are the answers from different people who help with problems. I do not have any solution to my problem. I do not have access, to my money. This company is really bad. I would not tell anyone to use Acorns.
The one thing that worked for me was when I talked to Poma Advisory. They helped me get back all my money. If Acorns is also holding your money do not wait. Talk to Poma Advisory now.
The main thing to remember is to stay from Acorns.

The worst bank I've ever dealt with in…

The worst bank I've ever dealt with in my entire life. The nerve to suspend my account because I deposit money from another bank, and then try to keep the funds while demanding i upload proof of who I am, where I live and the financial institution that I'm depositing from! NOBODY ELSE has ever pulled this shit. Deposit money from another bank and they hold the funds random? Completely insane. I've dealt with a lot of banks in my life, but these guys are completely nuts. Steer clear of these scam artists. ZERO ZERO ZERO STARS

And to update...Acorns then sends me a message here to contact them to that we can discuss the problem. You know what they wanted? To tell me that I STILL HAVE TO UPLOAD THE DOCUMENTS because I can't close the account if I don't. BWAHAHAHAHA
