Trip of a lifetime
I recently returned from the Everest Base Camp trek, guided by Adri and Gelje from AGA Adventures. Quite simply, it was the best trip I've ever been on. Adri, Gelj, Lakpa, Dawa and Phuri went above and beyond each day to make sure everyone in the group enjoyed the trek and made it successfully to Base Camp (which we all did). The team are some of the most experienced and knowledgeable mountaineers I've come across and It felt a great privaledge to be guided by them. They have some of the most fascinating stories of climbing Everest, K2 and other 8000m peaks, we were all in awe listening.
The accomodation provided in Kathmandu at the very start of the trip was superb and the chosen tea houses we stayed in during the trek continually exceeded my expectations (especially given the remoteness of some of the areas we visited).
Food options were varied and Adri was kind to give her own recommendations which was super helpful for someone who'd not tried Nepalise food before.
With regards to the trek itself, we were fortunate to have blue bird weather conditions and incredible views of the mountains and wildlife each and every day.
In terms of physical effort, the trek got more difficult as the altitude increased but with the rest days included, this felt fairly gradual. The distances covered was totally manageable as we had plenty of breaks and photos stops. We were a group of mixed abilities - some days we stayed together and others we naturally split into a smaller groups. I loved the fact i could chose if i wanted to take a more relaxed pace or push myself a little.
The day we made it to Base Camp was the highlight of the trip. We celebrated together with Adri, Gelje and the team and they gave us a well deserved beer to drink when we got back to the tea house!! That day will be a memory that stays with me forever.
On returning to Kathmandu, Adri went on to help organise accommodation for the extra days I'd booked there. She gave sightseeing and restaurant recommendations, which after a tiring last few days, i appreciated so much.
I would 100% recommend AGA Adventures, so much so I'm already looking into my next trek with them, hopefully Mt. Kilimanjaro next year.

Doing the Annapurna trek with AGA…
Doing the Annapurna trek with AGA Adventures was a life changing experience which I will forever treasure in my heart. Meeting Adri and Gelje and hearing about their experiences on the mountains and their passion for what they do made it even more special. The beautiful scenery every day and the clean and colorful tea houses added to the experience as well as the food which was presented in such a proud way. The humble and peaceful lifestyle of the Nepali people touched my heart and I wouldn’t have been able to experience this if it wasn’t for the trek. We also bonded so well with our guide and porters. Now I have my photos and memories, but I will be back!
