I flew from Lisbon to Toronto and Toronto to Lisbon with Air Transat and would say that compared to flying with Air Canada, their service is worse. Firstly, they don't offer headphones or a blanket... See more

They changed our flight to the next day…
They changed our flight to the next day only a couple hours before flying. We do NOT recommend this company at all.
Amateur company hiding issues behind third party connection companies.
Amateur company. Advertise flights using third party connections then use the third party companies as excuses that simple services like online baggage booking etc. are not possible.
Get told cannot assist with accessibility or wheelchair access for passenger. Advised need to fill in form on a website.
Call centres are terrible, will not give out names of whom speaking to. Waited 37-45mins to speak with a manager who was useless.
Told they are going to look to update system to add extra baggage but might not be for a year.
To think a company of this ineptitude are putting people in trans-Atlantic flights is staggering.
Worst Customer Service
We booked an all-inclusive to Akumal Mexico with this company. The hotel was stellar. Everything about it. But AirTransat not so much.
After retrieving our bags finding the area with shuttles and waiting to board the shuttle right there 3 feet in front of us for over an hour, being told we were still waiting on more people, I finally asked again if the people we were waiting for were on another flight. No, the same flight was the answer. Then she recounted and we were the people she was holding up the shuttle for. Over an hour in the heat after the flight. Embarrassed, the agent popped her head in the mini bus as we were finally about to leave and said we were lucky because Canadian money was going to be taken at par with US dollars if we booked our excursions through Transat.
First *: Everyone on that bus who we saw later at the resort asked us if that offer was honored with us because they did not get that deal.
Second **: When I later booked a tour for the Chichen Itza with your rep because I saw the price on your website was $140 US per person, your rep told us it was $170 US per person. Only after I showed her the screen shot first, then found it on your site again did she agree to that price.
Third ***: When asked about the at par promotion we were told about she blurted out No, that was not right. So I said I was lied to then? The whole van of Transat customers was lied to as well? As there was a small crowd waiting for her she told me what turned out to be a cock and bull story that what the agent meant was we would have to still pay in US dollars but only what the conversion rate was from $140 Canadian dollars to US dollars.???? So I said that’s the same thing. She apologized and said she misunderstood. She then said there was $10 each for a tax she had to collect. $140 CAD X 2 = $280 CAD = approx. $205 USD. Plus $20 USD for the tax = $225 USD. We paid her $276 USD.
Where did the other $51 we were fleeced for come from. And to make matters worse, a brutish thug threatened to hold up the entire bus if I refused to give him another $20 USD tax again and refused to give me a receipt.
Altogether, for this I’m out $71 USD.
When boarding flight TS 327 in Cancun Mexico on April 24, 2024, I discovered there was someone several rows ahead of us with an emotional support dog. A guy I heard in the terminal laughing it up with a bunch of people there who came to see him off about how he was pulling one off on the airline getting his dog on the plane. “He makes me happy he said. That’s support.” My seat numbers 6A window and 6B. At booking I paid over $300 to upgrade to these seats. But, because I have severe allergies to pet dander, my throat immediately began to close making it difficult for me to speak or to breath so I was immediately moved to the back of the plane before I started choking to death and waited while everyone else was seated until they found us seats. Eventually when they did find us somewhere in the middle section to sit together and promised I would be refunded for the extra I paid for the seats on that flight. I filed claims for both cases was told I would here back in 30 days. In 30 days I contacted them and was told 30 days is just a generic thing they tell people and that its actually 60 days. In total I’m out $221
Never again
I recently had a very disappointing experience with Air Transat that I feel compelled to share. We were the only passengers who voluntarily checked in two of our bags at the gate to help with the cabin space issue, expecting a smoother journey. However, when it came to our third bag, they had no space left and placed it in row 33, while we were seated in row 22. This meant that after landing, we had to wait until the entire plane was empty to retrieve our baggage.
Traveling with a tired three-year-old, we asked the stewardess if there could be a different solution, but she made no effort to accommodate our needs. Her lack of concern and unwillingness to assist was incredibly frustrating.
To make matters worse, after landing, as we were disembarking, one stewardess kindly asked our son if he wanted to see the cockpit. Naturally, he was excited and said yes. However, immediately after, another stewardess abruptly told us he couldn’t see it, leaving our son in tears.
This experience was truly terrible from start to finish. The lack of empathy and poor service we received from Air Transat was unacceptable. We will never be flying with them again.
Worst customer service on planet earth
Worst customer service on planet earth. Incompetent agents. Could not access our booking with booking #, called them and dealt with major incompetence and untrained people using phrases like "no problem"... "perfect"" when it was a big problem and far from perfect. Never did get it resolved and they did not care. Will never fly them again. Would rather pay more and fly another airline

Gotta love the BS behind the vacation packages. Suddenly there is a promotion after I booked and they refuse to honor the price. It's over 400 dollars in savings.
I will not be booking with Air Transat Vacations again after this. This is unheard of for these sudden price drops. Why should I pay more to attract others to book?
They made me check my carry on bag that…
They made me check my carry on bag that was the right size. Then after they met their quota for charging customers more money, they let other passengers come with the same size and larger bags through.
nightmare
What a nightmare dealing with Transat. They changed my flight causing me to lose a whole day of my vacation. Wouldn’t provide any information to myself or my travel agent. Eventually after lots of back and forth they offered me a different flight which was an acceptable solution so I agreed, when booking the new flight they actually rescinded the offer to rebook and offered a full refund instead which was fine because to be honest I didn’t want to travel with Transat anymore anyway. Thinking I was getting a refund I rebooked my flights with a different airline only to find out they didnt refund me instead they changed the flight to the rescinded offer and are now refusing to give the refund that was agreed to.
Instead Cuba ( Holguin) go to Jamaica
If you want to go to Cuba ( Holguin) with airtransat think twice: instead they will bring you to Jamaica. And you have no idea 6 hours in airport Jamaica what to do….no information no food no water!!! Finally They brought us to hotel in Jamaica at 5 am and in 6 hours they “provide” transfer back to airport ( thanks got my husband woke up at 9 and found this). Again: no information, no communication with us. They simply ruined our vacation. Instead to be 9.04.24 at 9 pm at Iberostar holguin we reached there 11 pm 10.04.
As kind of compensation we asked late checkout 16.04, but airtransat guide said “no!!!you guys gonna have compensation from airtransat in Canada” . Nothing happened! No compensation, no apologies. I know exactly : this company knew!!! 9.04 airport holguin has no power, but the sent our flight. We were in a sky 3 hours more than expected.
Got the luggage, take the luggage , sit in Jamaica airport without any I information!! It was my Worse experience ( 15 yers I use to work in big travel agency, but this situation and unprofessionalism I newer saw)!! Try to avoid service with Airtransat.
Don’t book with this company…
Don’t book anything with this company without making sure that you’ve got insurance coverage in case you need to make changes to your flight, because AIR TRANSAT will not help you out, even if they have seats available on another flight.
For the first time in my life, my agent booked a flight on Air Transat. My mother passed the day before the flight date.
I asked to reschedule to another date and was told that they had seats available on the rescheduled date, but Air Transat refused to do exchange on the dates, instead they wanted to keep my money and charge me again for the next flight.
I explained my situation, but they just ignored that, no exchange, no partial credit, nothing, absolutely nothing.
My resolution was to book my next flight with another air line and I lost the money on the first flight I’d book.
I will never book on Airtransat, with or without insurance. An airline such as this does not deserve my business.
So be aware and book on this airline with extreme caution, or best of all, don't book at all.
Terrible price-gouging company
Terrible price-gouging company. Price went up 100 pounds in 5 mins then charge 36-47 pounds for an assigned seat. Daylight robbery.
Great customer service
I would just like to give Kaliana in customer service a great big Thank You for all the help when called, as I had to cancel our flight for medical reasons, and she was so caring and compassionate and very helpful in guiding me on what to do and told her I will for sure be booking my flight with Air Transat when I will be able to rebook.
Thank You So Much Kaliana
Everything went pretty smoothly for us…
Everything went pretty smoothly for us overall; no issues and on time. We flew to Jamaica from Toronto and they used a Czech plane - Smart Wings, which is basically just a bus with wings. The plane was not very big, and we felt crammed in there like sardines in a tin. The seats are not comfortable at all, and my husband is tall with a bad back. Thankfully, the flight was only 4 hours! One plus is that we had hardly any turbulence at all both ways. The flight attendants were borderline friendly, and you barely saw them at all during the flight. The food is nothing special that you pay for, either. Also, the Air Transat part of the airport in Montego Bay is very disorganized and, people had no idea what was going on. I really don't understand if you check in online and use their automated kiosk at the airport to finish beforehand, why you need to wait in line at all afterwards. Isn't this process supposed to eliminate waiting in line?
Useless - Completely Useless
Not flown yet - but i have two bookings with them. When i try to access my booking to 'manage' them, book seats, request special meals, and baically, GIVE THEM MORE MONEY etc - I get an error saying "Booking Not Found". I have contacted them twice and I am just told "Its a system issue, we have no ETA for when it will be fixed". They said i can call them to pre-book my seats, but how am I supposed to know the seat map / availability, best seats and prices etc without being able to log into the seat map. The staff are SO unhelpful, rude, and treat you like you are a bother just for asking. I really am fed up of Air Transat and i have not even taken my flights yet. They cant even say if the manage my booking system will be fixed before i travel (which is October) - ridiculous. My return flight is in Club Class which cost a lot of money, yet they still treat you like crap. I do not know how they get away with it, all you have to do is read the reviews on here (which clearly their management do not) to see how poor they are. Totally fed up with them. I have never booked with an airline that i cannot manage my own booking online. Its horrendous.
I need to report an issue with one of…
I need to report an issue with one of the ages of my grandchildren on the ticket. I booked last October, after having great problems with their website. We are due to fly out 1st August 2024. Why is there no UK telephone number that is working? Why is the Canadian automated recording so difficult to understand? Why have my emails been ignored? Why can't I get a normal response to a query that can be sorted if someone
Just responds?
I've always flown air canada as they fly down to kingston ontario, changing at Toronto, however since covid, they no longer offer that service. The worry I am suffering thinking they won't let him through into Canada as he will be 9 and not 8.
If your travel agent is Sabrina, it’s gonna suck
I had the worst customer service with my travel agent from Air Transat. I asked the change a flight 3 weeks out. I had to call in repeatedly to remind my travel agent to change my flight and as of one week out from my trip she still has not. I am left Wondering if I’m going to have my flight changed properly so that I can return home in time to attend a program that I cannot miss more than three days or I’m kicked out. As of right now I will be missing three days and will be kicked out if she does not change my flight. I am powerless to change my flight. She has to change my flight and I am stuck here in limbo wondering if I will get to attend my course.
useless company !!!
useless company !!!
rude, make you fell like a second class citizen!
disgusting !!
Delayed luggage, no reaction after 7 months
We took a flight from Amsterdam to Toronto with a stop in Montral. Our luggage, 3 pieces, did not make the connection. Can happen. We had to wait 3 days for our luggage. They promised that we would be reimbursed for items bought up to CND50.00 per person, per day. We filed the claim on September 15 2023. We are still waiting for an answer/reaction. Several messages via FB, e-mail addressess I found on the internet, phonenumbers... everyone I talk to tells me that they will forward my claim to the department responsible and an agent will contact me with a few business days. Almost 7 months later....
Horrible
Horrible, travelling experience the plane is very uncomfortable and small seats. Even I paid for my set. pet unfriendly even my dog is very small miniature poodle. That was only 11 pounds. They were very mean to her and refused to go on the plane.
Still angry about abusive staff
I've decided to submit my comments now even though this incident happened several months ago. I tried to contact Air Transat in addition to responding to a flight survey (and specifically asked that someone contact me) at the time but no one ever responded.
My wife and I were returning from Lisbon last fall after a long-delayed holiday to Portugal. It was a stressful process just getting through the Lisbon airport: crowds, noise and claustrophobic design of the building, long customs lineups, being (dangerously) jammed in a very warm stairwell with many others leading to the shuttle platform, and finally getting to our plane that seemed a mile away on the tarmac.
We finally stepped into the plane and were greeted by a female airline attendant who then asked us where we were headed (a bit of a head-scratcher to begin with that we'd be asked that question). When we replied, the attendant said with a straight face: "You're on the wrong plane!"
You can imagine the confusion and consternation that caused us. But then she followed it up by saying, "I was just joking!"
To which I immediately said, "That wasn't funny." But that didn't seem to register with her. To which she immediately stated, "Yes it was!" Huh?
I probably didn't make my point forcefully enough so repeated, "That wasn't funny!" To which she repeated, "Yes it was!"
Not only that, but she repeated it a third time. I gave up. No one else seemed to be around I could complain to and we headed for our seats.
It was probably one of the worst flights I've ever had. Neither of us slept on the seven hour flight. I couldn't eat I was so upset that we'd been treated as the butt of someone's joke.
I vowed I was never going to fly the airline again if I didn't get some apology or some acknowledgement for how we'd been treated i.e. we basically paid several hundred dollars each to be insulted by airline staff.
I will post again when I ever hear anything from Air Transat since these reviews get forwarded to them.
Updated May 22, 2024: No response from AirTransat whatsoever. This just reinforces the fact that they simply don't care. Caveat emptor if you fly this airline.
