As a BSc Mathematics graduate, I know how challenging maths can be! I specialise in teaching students who find maths difficult - particularly those with dyslexia and dyscalculia. With over 9 years (and more than 5500 hours) experience as a tutor of children and adults, I have successfully assisted students in gaining GCSEs, passing tests, being offered promotions and relieving maths anxiety which around 25% of people experience. I often have worried students and concerned parents approach me with a real worry about attainment in maths. Through thousands of hours, hundreds of students and years of study, I am able to create a bespoke plan for tuition that suits every student's personality, motivation and ability. I am a youth mental health first aider and carefully listen to the concerns of every student about their maths ability, discussing together what we can do to alleviate stress and set them up on a path to understanding. My sessions are not pressured and I will happily accommodate last minute changes to topics as I believe in a student-centred approach and that tutoring is truly effective when the student participates as much as the tutor in discussions. I work most frequently with students who are neurodiverse, whether that is having dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD or being on the autistic spectrum. My sessions are welcoming, safe spaces to ask questions without judgement and a place to learn creatively and with specific learning differences in mind. I first started my journey into working with neurodiverse students whilst working with university students in receipt of Disabled Student's Allowance (DSA). I started working in higher education in 2014 and have continued to offer similar levels of support ever since. As of September 2023 I will be a qualified Further/Higher Education study skills tutor and will continue to recommend and adapt these techniques for younger students studying for their GCSEs. I welcome parents and students to have a free video chat with me to discuss any prior concerns before commencing tuition, or to get in touch if you would like to know more about how I am experienced in working with students who have learning differences.

Great SEN tutor

Well, what can I say? After two 'in person' tutors let us down we decided to go for online sen. We found Alice and even with the short period of time my son had with her his maths confidence and knowledge grew. Alice had the patience, empathy and ability for children with sen. Great written feedback after every lesson to guide the student where to focus learning.

Don't shy away from online tutoring with Alice and if your child has additional needs Alice will find a different way to teach them and hopefully raise those all important grades.

Tgankyou Alice.

Alice has made me good and more…confident

Alice has made me good and more confident at maths. In my recent paper, I wouldn't have got some of the questions right but because I have Alice I remembered a lot that she had taught me. She is really good and understanding and she will let you have a bit of a break in between the lesson. I highly recommend her as she's good with sen students, knows the curriculum, and she has clever ways of remembering things and working out things in Maths to make it easier.

Alice is an outstanding tutor and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough. She taught my daughter GCSE maths for around 18 months as part of a home Ed. Package. Alice has a brilliant knowledge of SEN needs and supported my daughter in having the confidence and abilities to take her exams.

Incredible Dyscalculia Tutor

Alice was recommended to me 4 months before my daughter’s GCSE’s. Having failed her mock and previous assessments, with Alice’s support, patience and specialised, targeted work, she managed to achieve a grade 4 at GCSE. Alice identified areas of focus early on and worked at a methodical, slow pace with my daughter. Her confidence grew and she soon got to grips with complicated concepts that she had never understood previously. We cannot thank Alice enough for the support she gave to our daughter at such a critical time and would not hesitate to recommend her.

Incredible tutor

I selected this tutor for my younger brother who has included his review below:

She was able to help me pass my Mathematics GSCE. Without her assistance, I would not have been able to accomplish this. She is extremely patient, and she is able to make complex concepts much more easier to understand. Would definitely recommend seeking out her help if possible. I very much struggled with Mathematics prior to this.

I have had a myriad of tutors, and none of them had the SEN knowledge that Alice has. I have special needs, and Alice was able to meet my learning needs and possesses the traits that makes a great tutor. Thank you again for all your support!
