Al-Ko Mower - best ever purchase
We are approaching autumn 2026 and another year passes where I wonder if this will be the last autumn for our trusted Al-Ko lawnmower!
You see, for the last 10 or more years we have wondered this, and every year she fires up faithfully mostly with little fuss, against all odds.
Purchased in the summer of 1992, now over 34 years ago, we finally believe she may well be on her last run.
Now I hasten to add not for quality reasons, more lack of owner care. Yes exactly that, in all these years this mower has had only one blade sharpening, one spark plug change and a cleaning of that last spark plug I’d say well over 10 years ago. Oil changed probably once every 10 years with a few top ups now and again.
The steel casing has started to rust through now and a hole has appeared in its side a few years ago, the plastic grass bucket has had a few modifications to keep it on and we’ve had to fix the handle as it broke away from the body in the last year but other than this it’s kept going!
It’s literally bomb proof.
So hats off to this company for making a remarkably sturdy quality lawn mower that if I’d looked after it I dare say would outlive me by many a year!
It has to have been our best purchase ever!
