Central Idaho
For central Idaho AllTrails is missing many existing, marked USFS trails in its App. There are better online resources for this hiking region.
A terrible service!
A terrible service that only appears be getting worse. Filled with bugs the devs don't appear to be fixing and the service is currently down. Clicking on any trail returns a 404 error. Cannot be relied upon.
Won't let me unsubscribe from their spam
Made me subscribe to see a map for a walk. Map was rubbish and now they won't stop sending me emails asking me to pay for subscriptions despite trying to unsubscribe multiple times over a number of months.
Not safe
Hello,
The database is terribly wrong.
At every single trail I've planed, I faced paths that not existed anymore or were closed because they crossed private properties.
It obliged me to sometime almost to double the excpeted time on the way. I felt this quite dangerous, in terms of becoming tired and having a lack of food, water, light, network to inform the family ...
Without instructions this app has little value
This app may be better than I know, but as with many, there are no instructions. I got it to work for two days but now I tell it to start but it doesn't record walk...probably my fault but not if no help. I suspect this app does more than I can see, but with no guidance it's a piece of junk.
Great Customer Service
This star rating is not for the app as I didn't end up using it, but for the customer service I received. I reached out by email and they were so helpful, refunding me straight away. Would use in the future after this positive customer experience.
AllTrails charges fraudulent annual subscription fees
AllTrails charged me with an annual subscription fee three months after I deleted their useless app. Their tracking never matched my location better than 400 yards wrong, in spite of how much I waved around my iPhone 12 Pro. I had to cancel my PayPal account to keep AllTrails from charging an annual subscription fee that paypal refuses to refund because I paid their fee historically.
Took the half price offer oh dear!
Took the half price offer. Even with that the app is a nightmare to comprehend. Can’t end a walk one takes. Can’t get rid of their ask of rating a walk. No way to contact them. Except this way.
Do yourself a favour. Please do not waste your money on it.
Great for new hikers!
I took advantage of the seven-day free trial of the pro version of the AllTrails app and loved it. As someone new to hiking, I’m not yet confident enough to just ‘go out and explore’ and so I really benefited from being able to search for routes in a specific area before heading out. The easy/moderate/hard ratings and reviews of the routes from other users also made it easy to find a suitable route.
Now that my free trial is over, I have found I cannot download the route maps to use offline when my phone signal is bad (as it usually is in the remote areas I tend to hike) and so I’m very much tempted to sign up to the £29.99 yearly membership after such a good experience with the free trial. As a student with not so great cash flow, however, I just wish they had the option to pay for the subscription monthly instead!
Good app, but…
I’ve just deleted the All Trails app because yesterday, for the *second* time, we found that the route marked took us right over private land. Had to take a huge, long detour with three small children just to get off someone’s property.
We have had some lovely walks with All Trails (hence the three stars) but I cannot deal with how stressful and mortifying it is to find yourself unintentionally trespassing.
The app has been going for many months now - enough time for the developers to iron out issues like this. We also use the Go Jauntly app (the free version) and have never encountered any problems with the routes.
Crooks and Thieves
Crooks and Thieves
They renewed my subscription but not at the advertised or agreed price £49.99 instead of £29.99. They don't respond to emails at all.
Do not subscribe, you have been warned.
love this app but they made it worse…
love this app but they made it worse when they recently changed the system for filtering by star rating. They used to give us the ability to filter for 5 star hikes only and it would only show 4.75 star and above. This system allowed the ability to show only the best of the best. They changed the system so we can only filter by 4.5 star and above which gives way too many options in many cases and dilutes our ability to find the best of the best hikes in a area. It is now harder/near impossible and or takes much longer. It sounds like a small change but it makes a big difference. Please change it back or allow us to filter differently. Thanks
Frighteningly bad
Frighteningly bad & won't let me delete my account & personal info from their platform.
Don’t waste your money
Don’t waste your money, recently subscribed no use in UK as no relevance to os maps or grid references. Poor quality maps for hiking.
A disgusting company that think it's…
A disgusting company that think it's perfectly acceptable to publish a walk that is through a farm yard and along a track that are completely private and not a footpath or bridleway. They are endangering the lives of walkers that use this app, trespassing through a farm is dangerous.
I bought the App thinking I could print…
I bought the App thinking I could print of a detailed description of walk route.
However, whilst you can print off a map, which I already had, I still was no wiser. I wasn't sure which path to take, which style to look for, how far along the path to go, all basic things I needed to know. I like to print off instructions in case phone battery runs out. Was of no use to me.☹️
Large work to make service better
It was really hard to change old nice Gpsies for Alltrails. But after one year I am safe to say, that Alltrails Team tries to make much to help it's users and develop functionality. The service becomes user-friendly and gets more options.
P.S. I am using free PC-version only to store my tracks and to plan future trips. Not using app.
Don't waste your time or money
This app and the information behind it are just not worth the effort. There are hardly any trails and if you search near where you live (I'm in Kent) it will bring up a few trails miles away. It has a very amateur feel about the whole thing. The support is also a waste of time.
Map and gps location could be working…
Map and gps location could be working much better, but the app helps a lot! thanks
