Misleading coverage
Misleading coverage, salesmen are sharks, actual coverage is laughable. 1000 for appliances! Techs they approve to do their work are crooks too

Disliked that I had to call the company to find out the status and to find out NO technician could come to my home in Yuma to fix my washing machine. However, did like the reimbursement of $500 for a new washer.

I haven't had to use the home warranty yet, but the process of signing up was user-friendly.
Unsatisfied
I was told that if anything went wrong in the future it would be covered- wrong! Apparently that is only half true since there’s a gray area around something that’s “preexisting” even though a professional said it wasn’t.

My account is as charged several times before the date I was given and I made a claim for someone to look at my hot water heater last week and no one has shown up yet!
They do not pay Vendor Invoices!
We are a 36 year old Appliance Repair company in the Scottsdale AZ market. We have completed service calls for American Home Protect and they have not paid our invoices.
As a small business, we do work for these companies in good faith.
They finally paid the invoice, but did not pay the late fee that should have been paid since they were 6 months or longer past due.
I would not recommend doing business with them in a vendor capacity

In attempts to get an A/C unit…
In attempts to get an A/C unit repaired, American Home, utilizing their in network contractors, called a company in Sept 2017 to fix the unit. The contractor identified Freon had leaked & was low, filled the prescribed amount, and went along their way. As nothing was fixed, the warranty company was contacted again in Nov 2017, where the same contractor returned, replaced one seal / ring within the unit, filled Freon again, then leak checked. This was all for an economical amount of $775 total. The same unit again did not work in Jun 2018, due to no true analysis of why the unit was leaking Freon. The same contractor was called for repairs, indicated the leak was due to a more significant reason, and claimed they could not repair it due to inability to find proper parts and the unit was now obsolete. A recommended new unit was quoted at ~ $4500 value. At this time, the warranty company, due to their aggregate amount having been exceeded on this A/C unit above their warranty program value, elected to close out and send me a check for the nominal remaining value on the policy. Having to reach out to a repair contractor myself, we re'cd a referral for a gentleman who in his first trip to our home, identified the coil in the attic unit had deteriorated to a level where it was consistently leaking Freon. With one call, he found a brand new replacement part and fixed our unit within two days of his 1st visit. Now, his total invoice was for $1220 in total, as the coil replacement part was half this value. Had my warranty company been diligent enough to screen the efforts of their in network contractor or at least questioned why repetitive visits, multiple Freon fills & leak checks did not resolve the issue, my home warranty would still have some value remaining for future A/C repairs. In this case, the homeowner loses, as we no longer have any home warranty value for A/C unit repairs, and felt as though the last 10 mos. of repairs were a waste of time and warranty money. There is a price to pay for cheap, and my home warranty threshold value was it. The contractor originally performing repairs on our A/C unit couldn't have cared less about me, though they certainly did continue to invoice my warranty company until the well went dry. Not sure how the warranty company identifies its in network contractors. Maybe they need to rethink or rework their approach based on this homeowner's opinion.
Very informative and ready to switch
I was the phone for almost an hour
I was the phone for almost an hour. One issue is in claim process.
My question about our water heater had me being shuffed to different agents and a hold time of more than 49 minutes. I am waiting on a call back for the water heater question.
Had to use the service 2 times
Had to use the service 2 times. Both times it took weeks for a call back and an appointment. I cancelled the service after the second call and fail. My dishwasher would not drain. Contacted and it was 3 weeks before I received a call back. Then it was another week before the tech called to come and fix the dishwasher. I had stinky stale water in my kitchen for 1 month. On the 3rd week I cancled the service and went back to American Home Shield. I called in a service call and on the same day had a call back and the dishwasher fixed. American Home Protect is a joke!
