Trash company, they will take your payments and wont pay back out when help is needed. Getting ANY feed back from them never works, they wont respond to your emails at all ever.
Changed Total Insured Sum on Home without Notification. Emails do not do anything, they're just traceability to think you did something.
Relies too heavily on Emails now post Covid. Phone call lads and ladies are great. Closed their face to face shops and now we cannot deal with them like we used to and our household no longer feel like we should either.
Changed Total Sum insured for our home when it was already set 6 years ago. They increased it anyways to match the market without authorisation from us. There are two people on this property and neither have been contacted about it.

Based off the reviews I’m not surprised. I made a claim back in May it’s now June 20. They contacted me on June 10 after 6 weeks of freakin waiting, only to answer their questions and then be ignored. No help on their Facebook, no replies to my emails and sit on hold for three hours and no one answers. People don’t have time to f around with Shy-t like this and it’s not like I can just go to another insurance company and claim again.
Still no closer than I was a month ago at making a claim because they just ditch you and then hear bugger all and every time you contact someone about it they’re just as unhelpful as the next person but are quick to contact you when a payment is a day overdue. Funny that…

Been on the phone 35 minutes so far - AMI has reached the depths of NO customer service. Very hard to understand foreign speaking phone operator - who is based in the Philippines...... GET IT TOGETHER AMI - no body has time to waste on this lack of service. People want to feel that they are valued as a customer...... or they go elsewhere ..................

If I could give no stars I would. I have been on the phone now for over two and half hours. Just go somewhere else. It would seem to be impossible to get through to them. I guess this way they have fewer claims . Only the truly tenacious and unemployed can give up half a day to call them.
If you want a company who can't read your messages properly (or just simply ignores you) and gets everything wrong - choose these guys!
Wow - I'm just looking at all the other 93% of 1 star terrible reviews people have given AMI. Didn't think it was that bad. They are TERRIBLE with their customer service. Terrible is an understatement. They bare simply not there at all when you need them and when they do finally send an email - they don't read anything you've said properly and it feels like you are talking to a 13 year old who does not know anything and just gives you the most USELESS, SIMPLISTIC AND AUTOMATED response. Feels like you are dealing with a robot, only you are not. If you want insurance with a bunch of imbeciles who can't read or write, and ignore you when you contact them, choose AMI! Don't say I and all the others on here did not try and warn you.
Not recommended at all
Literally you have got no choices to contact them. They have got no offices around you and in case you call them they wont answer for ages and you just loose your time and money. Been waiting on my claim but no updates in online neither they contacted me after. Did a chat in Messenger and they said they would contact me in a week but nothing happening. We understand there could be high volume of customers but this long without any updates.

Up until now I've had great service from AMI. no longer am I receiving any service at all. Made a claim about 6 weeks ago due to a break in and claim was accepted straight away. Still waiting for payment. They keep promising they will contact through FB but don't. It's just getting ridiculous now. They still happy to take our premiums tho
Premium increased after telling them I settled my car loan
My monthly premium was $101.14 per month and my car had 2 years of financing left. I decided to settle my car loan and called AMI to let them know that there were no financially interested parties in the vehicle as the financing is over. The guy updated my policy and my premium jumped to $116.74 per month. Multiply that by 12 months and that's an increase of $187.2 per year all because I've settled on my car loan.
I will now cancel my car insurance and content insurance with AMI and will take my business elsewhere.

Only gave a 1 because 0 wasnt an option. Completely useless. I cancelled my policy with them half way through a claim that wasnt going anywhere. Whats the point in paying for something that is so painfull to use?. AA insurance is far far better

I gave them 1 as a zero was not possible. Absolutely terrible customer service. We have not received a cent of our claim 4 months after the event. We have been lied to, mislead and have received no contact from them at all, only speaking to them after being on hold for hours and hours. I will be changing our insurance provider asap. I am not an angry person but this lot are a joke.
Nothing but trouble
Nothing but trouble. My accounts have been messed up. I now know by mistake I have two different profiles. I'm having to endure hours of incessant interrogation over the phone with alot of cross-talk (others' voices being a major distraction).
Email comms have not been sent and all I get is "this policy will lapse".
Why do I get the impression that the people handling my case get paid for the time and the number of words they spew??
I'm cancelling my insurance today, I'm not going to endure this a moment longer

AMI is the worst insurance company i have ever dealt with. They can't investigate the matter and to be on customer side as they say AMI, WE ARE HERE TO HELP. what a joke, actually they don't care about you. Still waiting on number of issues to be resolved. Please don't ever by any policy from AMI and IAG group.

I'm actually very upset today, I phoned to change my address on my policy just to be told I will have to pay more on insurance for Both Cars. I'm so shocked by this it makes me sick to my stomach! Its the worst of the worst customer experience I have received so far from anyone her in NZ. Its appalling how I have been a good customer and I just get the don't care attitude over the phone. I'm stuck in limbo now because now I have to jump around to get new insurance because my own insurance is ripping me off. I just did a quote with another service provider and I will pay $49 less for both my cars than what i pay at my current insurance. Why do I have to move my insurance? Why can I pay less for the same comprehensive insurance at a different place than my own insurance? I want very Urgent feedback please AMI

Terrible company to deal with! Impossible to get answers about current policy, passed around from department to department where they all claim its the wrong department. Unable to register online as we have a lifestyle policy. So unable to contact them online and unable to get answers over the phone. Extremely upsetting and frustrating when we are trying to get answers about a claim to our property caused by cyclone Gabrielle.
No communication or knowledge amongst staff anymore

I have been a customer for 27 years but…
I have been a customer for 27 years but I am looking for a new insurser - DO NOT USE AMI. We are still waiting on a settlement for damage for the February floods - the carpet has still not been removed - all our quotes for the repairs have expired. They just don't reply to emails. If you call NOBODY answers - I have called for the last week and been on hold for more than 5 hours then you are cut off at 6pm. If you insure with AMI you are not really insured - We are now paying to repair the damage ourselves - after paying policies for 27 years. BEWARE!!!!
