False advertising the precision cooker 3.0
Purchased the precision cooker 3.0
States clearly on the box "wifi enabled."
What it does not state clearly on the box is that you must buy a monthly or yearly subscription (that's BUY as in $$ per month) for the "privilege" of actually connecting to the device and using the wifi/bluetooth.
Exact phrases on the box are:
"Enable dual band Wi-Fi to cook, ..."
"start cooking with one touch right from you phone, ..."
"cooking with the manual controls or the free Anove Culinary App."
Did you notice the FREE reference in the last phrase? Yeah me too, well free it isn't.
In my opinion that is false advertising. My decision to buy was influenced by the ability to use wifi/bluetooth.
Yeah sure, take it back right? Well sometimes (like my time) that's just not so convenient.
Bought the first oven almost 4 years…
Bought the first oven almost 4 years ago. I loved my unit, made me completely ditch my old oven. However, recently, the display stopped working. It’s a common wiring issue in their ovens from bad design. It will happen on a lot of units after some time. Here’s the thing. Warranty is expired. They don’t offer you a paid repair service. They don’t offer you a discount, a solution… nothing. Once your oven breaks - good luck, you’re on your own. I was thinking of buying the 2.0, but I lost all my trust in this company. The customer service is awful. There are other choices out there. Do not buy it.
Immersion circulator (Anova Mini)…
Immersion circulator (Anova Mini) didn't work when it arrived. I'm hoping they're paying for return shipping.
On top of that, their customer service is lousy. They keep heaping more and more work on me because their return system on their website doesn't work.
Their product doesn't work, their website return system doesn't work, it seems they don't even really want to answer the phone (they prefer you leave a message so they can get back to you whenever it pleases them).
So, they get the prestige of being Anova, ATK's choice, but they don't actually want to do anything after the fact. They're resting on their laurels.
By their score, here, it looks like I'm not the only one who thinks so.
Dangerous Precision Cooker 3.0
Anova Precision Cooker 3.0 defected and dangerous!!
I had borrowed the slow cooker from my neighbours, who had owned it for few years. As soon as I plugged the cooker into my kitchen, it caused a small explosion, burning several sockets and damaging the hob.
As a result, I had to call an electrician to replace the sockets and repair the hob, which cost me £300. Additionally, since the cooker’s warranty had expired, I had to purchase a new one for my neighbour, bringing my total expenses to £500. The electrician confirmed that the cooker was the cause of the dead short circuit and consequential damage. I’ve asked support to the customer care but they didn’t care about it and just ignored my emails.
I feel Ripped off
bought a nano and it works perfectly. very pleased with the device. however, at no time when buying the product did the marketing blurb inform the buyer that one the main features (using from a phone app for convenience) costs EXTRA via an ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION!
very very disappointed. I really wish I had bought a different brand now for less. I only paid a premium price for features I nowcan't use without paying again. I feel like I've been scammed. Terrible shame as I actually like the product, just hate being taken for a fool. If you provide features you know will sell the product make it very clear in the same paragraph there is a cost to using that service!
Excellent support
Excellent support. My faulty unit was replaced within a few days.
10 out of 10!
Anova Oven: If it breaks they don’t repair it
I have the first Anova Oven and after 2 years it broke. I asked for replacements and they will not send them to me because the Oven is not anymore under warranty.
I asked them to sell me the replacements and they don’t sell them.
So i bought a 600€ Oven 2 years ago, and I cannot use it because they don’t sell replacements and they don’t have repair centers.
Never buy an Anova Oven.
Beware of Anova's Incompetent Service and Fulfillment Issue
I placed an order with Anova 16 days ago for multiple items, but they only delivered one. It was obvious their warehouse simply forgot to include the second item. Trying to reach their customer support was a nightmare—endless wait times, unanswered emails, and an unhelpful chat system. Anova’s team is severely understaffed and lacks basic accountability. Instead of promptly resolving the issue, they insisted on checking with the parcel carrier (which was irrelevant) and then took their sweet time processing a replacement. Now, I'm forced to wait an additional 6 business days for something I should have received in the first place. Avoid Anova at all costs if you value your time, money, and sanity.
A Company of Lies, Deceit, and Disrespect.
I am not surprised to see the low rating here. What a horrible company.
I went to their website, and they offered a discount in exchange for an email address. OK, I'll do that. They might send good recipes and tips. Then, a bigger discount for a text number. OK. BUT, they did not honor the discount, saying it was not valid for the cookers. Deceit! No. I don't do business with dishonest companies. So I canceled, then sent them a note explaining and requesting that they delete all personal data. They responded by asking for more personal data and refuse to remove my data. The SPAM is continuous. I have contacted them in 3 ways now, and the SPAM keeps coming. I reported their domain for SPAM, and now I'm leaving bad reviews about their company that continues to break the law. As mentioned, a horrible company, and I don't even need to know about their products.
Very Disappointed with Ongoing App Fees
While my precision cooker works well, the Company was deceitful in not mentioning that customers must pay an ongoing subscription fee to use the app. Other sous vide cookers offer free apps and don’t charge ongoing fees. Very disappointed with my Anova!
Hidden customs fee
Very surprised to receive customs fees on this purchase. No mention of this during shopping and paying. Website in Norwegian led me to believe this was a company located in Norway.
I will not shop again from Anova Culinary and cannot recommend this company.
Deceitful sales strategies. At cost of early adopters.
My old Precision cooker was coming up on 5yrs and starting to make some noises but still working. They then sent me an email that they would discontinue app connectivity with the old cooker and only support the new ones. They offered 50% off at the time. I thought it was a decent deal to replace a device that likely won't survive another 2yrs. Unfortunatley only 1 month later the new device is even cheaper on a blackfriday deal. Also I received an email that now they will continue supporting the original devices. This is quite deceitful and the current device will be my last. I also used to recommend the device to friend and family. I will start to actively discourage friends and family purchasing an Anova precision cooker.
This is an unethical company
This is an unethical company. They are discontinuing connectivity on some products in a money grab. Buy cheaper products from the competition. This is not a premium product.
Product is mediocre at best, company is crap
Product was mediocre at best, but useless now. my precision cooker has been replaced one because of it breaking. Now they are shutting down the wifi functionality which i paid extra for getting the more expensive model instead of the ones without. This is making the thing pretty much useless, operating it without wifi doesnt work.
Do not buy Anova Precision Oven
Do not buy - Anova Precision oven - I’ve been waiting a month for my 4th oven in 11 months. The other 3 have all failed and had to be replaced. I requested a full refund but was denied. It’s been 8 days since they created the shipping label, for all the good that does. I used to tell people how happy I was with the oven, but now I tell everyone not to buy ANYTHING from them.
They add a subscription years after purchase
These guys are brutal. Their products break frequently, but they know this and so replace them quickly. However, apparently to fund their poor QA replacement policy, they are introducing a subscription for their tools that were previously part of the cost.
No care for the environment
Retiring perfectly working product from use. Offered "half price" on new model which will result in the old one going to land fill. Nothing wrong with it, they just don't want to support it any more. Environmental disaster.
Anova has decided to discontinue use of…
Anova has decided to discontinue use of wifi and bluetooth on their older models.
I happen to own one which is fully operational still, so basically they are devalueing an item i own due to them wanting to save money.
I was happy until now with their product, but this is unacceptable and should be illegal to remove functionality of a product i own.
Totally unacceptable.
DO NOT BUY!
Wish I stumbled on these reviews earlier. The products work great, that is as long as they actually work. If you ever at one point need customer support for an RMA, you're basically out of luck.
I've been waiting for half a year now on an RMA. Customer support is non existent. Stabbing myself repeatedly with a rusty fork would probably still be better than trying to deal with Anova support.
Simply the worst. Ever. Do not order.
Hands down the worst company I've ever dealt with. I wish I had read all the reviews on here before ordering from those thieving scammers. Do not buy from this business. They are terrible. Absolutely terrible. Customer service are rude, incompetent and ignorant. Ordered 3 items, the main item (nano) was and remains out of stock. They allowed me to pay for next day delivery for the device and yet still, deny any wrong doing. They've given ROUGH estimates as to when they will have it stock. Anova needs to be reported to trading standards and any local authority. Do it. Report them.
