I looked at the 'antique book' site + a 'Christie's expert' (??) started a chat. She asked that I pay $5 for an estimate. I agreed but my card was refused. I assumed I mistyped + re-entered the numbe... See more

They should be investigated
They should get no stars and I hope they a re taken off of the internet and investigated. I was checking the value of a comic book. They told me it would be a $5 charge. They attempted to charge me $70 multiple times. Got a fraud alert and when I saw the amount I hit no. They lied about the amount they charge you and it is all AI. The AI looks up your product online and just regurgitates what you have probably already read. I feel like they tried to steal my money, and they never respond when you question why they tried to take so much money when they claim it is only $5.
Less than a star if I could
Less than a star if I could. I'm getting charged $5 to connect to get $55 charge cancelled. A very very awful scam
I want a refund
I want a refund. You have been charging me a monthly fee that I did not approve of or sign up for.
I want to speak with your admin office, but your website does not provide the information needed to contact them.
I was also scammed with the $5.00 quote…
I was also scammed with the $5.00 quote and they charged my credit card $5.00, then $55.00. I also called my credit card company to dispute. I do hope the company did not subscribe me. I will have to watch my next credit card bill. I should have checked them out, but put trust in company. I never got scammed - please be careful.
Scam service - no experts
Same story here - $5 for the first question. $90 charge the next day. And the answer ... I waited over 3 hours for an expert - they answered at 3 am!!!! Next day they I provided a lt of information and pictures, and they gave me a really dumb answer that any Joe of the street could have pull out of his finger ... :-) When I called to cancel they tried to prove to me that over 2 year I will get .... then told me they will give a refund of $90 canadians, but they will charge me $99 USD for the cancellation ..... Horrible!!!!! How can I give them "-5" fortheir service ...
SCAM
SCAM . . . . BEWARE
They told me it would cost $5 to talk to an antique appraiser, and then they tried to ram $70 through my bank account, THREE TIMES.
Said they charged a $5 fee but when my…
Said they charged a $5 fee but when my card seemed to be declined, I left the site. Later I got an alert that they charged my card $65! Which my card declined.
I am having the same experience.
I am having the same experience as all the others. One phone call that was supposed to be $5.00. Instead they charged $65.00. Fortunately, I use Capital One who has a service called ENO. ENO assigns a unique virtual card for each vendor I use. As such all I had to do was cancel the virtual card for this scam. I plan to also challenge the original $65.00 and Capital One is usually very good at cancelling bogus charges.
Crooked
Crooked. They don't tell you the fees up front and then set it up as ongoing monthly payments!
The information wasn't even that good.
Total Scam - they steal your money
They chat connected me with an expert who gave me good value for $5.
BUT they also signed me up for a subscription for $90 a month .... and I have no idea how. When I chat connected with a customer service rep it was clear that this happens all the time. I had to be very direct and aggressive to get them to refund me.
It's clear that their business model is to steal your money.
sounds like a scam
they want to charge 5 bucks for appraisal so I thought I would research company first - glad i did seems like everyone is getting scammed - happy I checked reviews first - why aren't they shut down for charging people excess amounts of money continuously ???
If I could give zero I would
If I could give zero I would . Was supposed to charge 5.00 but now am being charged 55.00 monthly and cannot find a customer service number and site is asking for credit card again. Tried online chat but will not give a customer service contact.
BtW didn’t even get a valid response to my initial question. Will report to better business bureau
it is a scam
it is a scam. they said it would be a 5.00 charge and now charge my account 80.00 a month.
and to cancel this you have to put your credit card number in again. no thank you.
Never use this company!
It appears to be a clever scam
It appears to be a clever scam. I was in a chat and provided various pieces of info regarding the art piece I wanted appraised. I was then told to pay a $5 (FIVE DOLLAR) fee for a month's membership. In doing so online, the amount suddenly changed to $55! Magic. It was flagged as not going through, so I tried a couple more times and even tried to pay though Paypal. I got an e-mail from my bank alerting me to suspicious activity, so I logged into my account and saw 5 transactions for $55 being processed. I called the bank and had them canceled and now have to get a new Debit card. I am feeling like a fool for not checking here first.
Average Information & Unauthorized Subscription FEES!
I used this service last August for a quick review of a complete dining room set. I sent in some pix and then had a 15 minute call with an "antique specialist". the information was very general and I found out that best way to assess is to have someone come live to see your furniture. The real issue followed in that they signed me up for a monthly subscription fee of $65.00!!! Be VERY careful about how to use this site and I don't recommend them.
This is misleading
This is misleading, you go for a single free appraisal and not only are you charged but you receive a monthly charge from your credit card account
These people led me to believe I would…
These people led me to believe I would be charged $5.00 to ask a question. They then went on to charge my card the $5.00 and another $65.00 that I did NOT authorize. The "Expert" I spoke with basically looked up in the phone book in my area that could help. I was under the impression I was going to get a quote as that is what I contacted them for. Total waste of money and unauthorized charges to boot. I have canceled my Credit Card and intend to contact the Attorney Generals Office and report FRAUD.
Huge scam!!! Stay away!
I was just trying to find out how much an appraisal would cost. It led me through a "refundable" $5 charge but never answered my questions about price. Then I got a fraud alert from my credit card saying that they had charged me another $55. I never did find out what an appraisal would cost, or what the terms would be. I've spent an hour trying to straighten this out and I'm nowhere near done. Stay away from these fraudsters (as well as JustAnswer which they are a part of).
Suspect site, check your charges
You answer some questions about your item with a bot, then you are referred to an appraiser. Before you speak to the appraiser, there is a one-time charge of $5, refundable (I assume deducted from the aporaiser’s fee). But when I entered my payment info, my bank sent a notice of charge declined. For $65, not $5. This may be a legit operation, but their practices are suspect.
SCAM - stay away
Stay away from this fraudulent business. They promise a "1-time" $5 charge but then hit your credit card for $48 EVERY SINGLE MONTH thereafter. Try to call them? Only response is an automated message, "We do not recognize the number from which you are calling. Goodbye". No email contact. We have to have our bank reject the charge each month and go through the fraud process with them. Save yourself the aggravation and go elsewhere.
