Disappointed...

Really wish the quality of this drone was better. After having issues with the DJI apps not working on my Android phone I decided to try Autel. I got the EVO 2 lite+ and it flew great on the first flight. After that it just went downhill. Constant issues with connection problems, if I was able to even get it up in the air it would only be able to reach a mile before having connection issues again. The flight before I sent it into repair it started to fight me and veer off course before crashing into the snow bank. They updated the firmware and are now sending it back but customer service was being reticent about answering my questions like if I would need to send it in every year for firmware updates. Still no response. I will definitely never buy from Autel again. I really wanted to like this company too.

Bad drone repair experiance

I recently purchased an Autel lite drone and had a terrible experience. On the fifth main flight, the drone crashed after initiating a return-to-home (RTH) function. After nearly 2 weeks of back and forth with Autel, they finally agreed to repair the drone under warranty. It took over 10 weeks to get the repaired drone back, and when I received it, I was surprised to find a bill from UPS for £48, stating that I needed to pay import duty. This is untrue, as I bought the drone in the UK. I ended up paying the bill just to get my drone back. This experience was terrible, and I have never had this issue with DJI drones.
I give 2 stars since it did get repaired not for customer experiance.

These Drones are JUNK!

These Drones are JUNK!! The batteries suck and they don't support their products. I spent over 1500 on their drone, case, and accessories and they told me to pack sand (for lack of better terms). It also went nuts on me and caused damage to my neighbors house. Their drones are a liability and they will get you sued. They are dangerous and should not even be legal. I insure drones as I am in the aviation insurance business and I will NEVER insure one of these. Junk! Don't buy one! Get a DJI or something that a company stands behind.

Autel Evo Nano Plus Drone - great rival to DJI Mini 3 Pro

I purchased the AUTEL EVO NANO+ drone from an excellent retailer called WEX Photo Video, in June 2022.
(I have given seperate review for WEX on Trust Pilot).
I was torn between the obvious DJI Mini Pro 3 and the AUTEL EVO NANO+.
Then with the help of you tube reviews, my mind was made up, and this quick comparison will show why.
I felt the whole world seemed to be going for the obvious Drone by DJI, but I decided to give AUTEL
a chance, as they were making an incredible effort, and not only does the Autel Drone look awesome, in white,
(other colours available), but the video quality is much better, with a slightly larger CMOS/CCD 0.781" in comparison to the DJI Mini 3 Pro 0.769", both drones are 249gms to make them more useable in the UK,
the diagonal spam of the Autel is 253mm compared to its' rival at 247mm, both have a range of 6km,
and the Autel has a f1.9 lens compared again to its' rival of f1.7 lens, and interestingly enough,
live-view for the Autel is 2.7k/30fps, compared to the DJI which is 1080/30fps.
So, having received the package from WEX for the Autel Evo Nano+, I set up the Autel AIR app on my phone, charged both the drone and the remote control unit using the supplied cables, and was ready for action.
(The Evo Nano+ also comes with 2 pairs of extra blades, 4 extra screws, and all the extra cables needed to make it compatible with
Iphones, and Samsung Android variants, including a long USB-C to C cable for connecting remote control unit to a large tablet.)
Upon enabling the APP on my phone, I ticked "allow USB connection to enable the Autel Air App", and then turned on the drone, carefully away from obstacles, and within a few seconds, the Autel Air App, recognised the drone, and registered it, and asked me if I wanted to do a firmware update, which I said 'Yes' to.
(Don't forget, when you do say YES to a firmware updated, make sure your phone, your remote control and the drone are FULLY charged, and never turn any of the 3 items off during a firmware update).

Then I took drone outside in garden, and did a compass calibration (using the settings on the app),
then using the controller joysticks, (position 4pm and 7pm) started the drone motors.
It was so easy to control too, left joystick, (acscend, descend, rotate left, rotate right),
and right joystick, (forward, backward, move left, move right).
Despite all the many extra functions, this was all I needed as a beginner, along with the return to
home button on the app or on the controller.
I am utterly delighted with the Autel Evo Nano+ drone, and have no regrets. The video quality on the
SD card is amazing, and I felt so much more confident using it, having had a much heavier DJI Pro 4 several years ago, which (despite having a 1 inch cmos/ccd), I had to sell quickly as these became
illegal in the UK.
So overall, give the Autel Evo Nano+ a go in favour of the rival, as Autel have gone several steps beyond for the same price.
In the event of you needing extra blades/properllors (due to the odd accident with trees etc), these can
be ordered from Autelpilot.uk, £9 for 2 pairs of blades, or from ebay, £11 for 4 pairs of blades, (but
the latter takes a month from China).

There is one thing to be really really careful about, when changing blades/propellors, it is very easy
for your screwdriver to slip, while undoing or attaching blades, and this screwdriver can slip into the finely wound coils of one of the 4 motors - so take great great care.

Leaves customers with no support and never answer their phones!!!

Immoral unethical company that sold me an X star premium drone then discontinued support on it and batteries production shortly thereafter. They refuse to make the batteries making the drone inoperable and those batteries could easily be made and sold so people did not need to throw out their perfectly good drones. They did this on purpose. They simply NEVER answer their phones never in last two years. Horrible company too to bottom and inside and out. No different than the guy that owns a gym and sells people 5 year extended gym memberships the day before he closes his doors! Call the Washington State Attorney general office and report them.

2 Technical issues in less than a year not good

I got my autel evo 2 pro just over a year ago and the video and stills are amazing, I went with this over DJI because of there bad customer service record, but about 6 month's ago it developed a fault in the gimble so sent it to be repaired, got it back seemed ok, then just after Christmas it developed another fault in the gimble, got in touch but the communication from them as been unacceptable and in turn it as gone over its 12 months, I ask for a replacement and they said no because it had gone over the 12 months, I had also taken out there care package which is meant to put your mind at rest, there care package also includes replacing the drone should anything go wrong with it, I reached out to them well with in the 12 months but because of there poor communication issues it looks like I am going to be a victim due to a technicality, they have offered to repair it again but 2 faults in less than a year is not giving me confidence in there system and I feel they should replace it, these drones are not cheap and if they want to be a competitor in the drone market they need to look after their loyal customer's which in turn will protect the brand, going by my experience so far I wouldn't recommend them, and you have only got to look at there reviews on here to understand why they have a very poor score, Autel you need to wake up as you are falling behind the competition and take notice of our reviews, I am still waiting to hear back from them on this issue, if I get a result I will update the review but there is no telling how long that will be considering there poor communication

Something amiss with customer service

I was blown away by their customer service after I bought my EVO in late 2018 and really liked the aircraft, but more recently I noticed a distinct shift in the quality of customer service. Both times I sent the EVO in for repair, it came back with the gimbal protector not fully snapped into place, so the gimbal was bouncing around during shipment. I let them know after the 2nd time this happened and got no response.

Most recently, ALL 4 of my batteries became "faulty" for some strange reason and all technical support could tell me was to properly dispose of them. I guess that means the $100. batteries have a 3 year lifespan, but it would have been nice if they could have at least offered to sell me new batteries. I wasn't contacting them for advice on battery disposal, I need a functional drone.

As for the aircraft, I have to point out the lack of control with EXP curve settings, which from what I could tell, the EVO II is similarly hampered by. The specs of the EVO II are impressive but without the ability to tune stick input curves, recording smooth video is more difficult than it needs to be.

Great drones but be careful if buying mid-2021

Great products but Autel are about to change their chips which will make current (v1) EVO drones, Live Deck and Smart Controller incompatible with the incoming v2 models. Before buying current v1 products in mid-2021 onwards, ask vendor to confirm in writing what your upgrade options are going forward.

Very heppy with the customer service

I'm very surprised about the negative customer support reviews! Because my experience is the opposite.
I contacted them for focus issue, the guy (Gian) responds quickly and the whole process the same guy.
After providing some pics/video with the problem, I had to ship it to Germany, without costs for me, because they provide a shipping label. I had the drone within 2 weeks back home and the problem was solved. Strong points are all the time the same customer service representative, who response quick. Also give updates. No shipping costs and quick repair. I also like this drone and it's possibilities.

Horrible Autel service in Germany. Avoid them at any cost !

I have have bought Drone Evo 2 Pro from store in USA in January 2021. It Has arrived to UK after 3 days.
No issues with quality everything works perfectly until system upgrade in March and my hell started from here.
After upgrade gimbal just has died and was no way to fix it at home.
I have called Autel in USA and they redirected me to German service of Autel trading under name VITECH GMBH.
After 2 weeks and lots of hassle Vitech has send me post label and i have sent drone to them.
2 weeks later spoken by online chat with service support and they told me drone has been fixed and is ready to come back to me .
Label was dated 23/04 but posted on 29/04.

UPS started changing delivery date again and again and after 7 days i have call from them as my parcel has been hold due to missing document SAD3 for imported good from Germany to UK
Online support of Vitech trying to help but no one in his office bother to give detail to UPS and clear this parcel.
I have wrote many emails, try to call but no solution at all. I have emailed service manager also but silence and no help. UPS now charge £13 a day for storage.
Right now i have no choice just ask for refund of $1400 or replacement of new one and avoid Autel service in Germany forever.
2 months later i have no drone and no chance to take it back.

Do not trust the hype or the company

I purchased the Evo 2 pro and was initially very pleased. So pleased, in fact, that I wanted to show others how good it was. After letting them fly it for awhile I told them to aim it at a large building to demonstrate its highly touted obstacle avoidance. It was a clear day with very little wind and we were in a parking lot with the building the only obstacle. Initially the drone reacted as it should by approaching and then stopping. Unfortunately it then decided to accelerate right into the building. The building won that encounter with the drone becoming separated from the camera. The flight logs verified all this. Unfortunately Autel determined that since there was a pilot in charge I should not have depended on the obstacle avoidance, and they refused to consider this a drone failure. To make matters worse, their offer was to charge full retail price for a new camera unit (exact same price I found online), plus an hours labor for the 5 minute repair (that is how long it took me after I chose to do it myself). So buyer beware, the obstacle avoidance may avoid some things, but not a big obvious building. Combine that with a company that refuses to stand behind the claims they made and you have a good case for choosing a Skydio.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware. Unless you enjoy blowing a ton of cash on their "rugged bundle" for the Evo II series, only to have a rotor redesign a few months later render the case (which costs in excess of $100) obsolete, I'd stay away from Autel and go for a manufacturer that isn't stuck in a perpetual cycle that resembles amateur hour.

Autel's answer, by the way, was pretty much a non-answer and advised me to make "modifications" to the case on my own.

Better than DJI

I tested both autel evo 2, evo 2 pro, dual thermal camera drone with 640 resolution, they all performaed well, in many ways autel is better than DJI in same class drones(Mavic 2 series), longer flight time, more collision avoidence, hardcase, easier gimbel protector, legs unfold same way, no NFZ, 800m altitude, mapping and regular software on same app. etc..

Autel - Terrible Support

just got off the phone with Autel. I have an X-Star which I have used lightly. I think I purchased in in 2017 or about 3 years ago. I have really enjoyed it. When I started to use it after sitting for a while a few days ago, one of my batteries was fine, but the other one wouldn't charge. I called Autel support which indicated that the battery is dead. When I asked about buying a replacement battery I was told that they aren't available. I have checked on the internet and only found two used batteries which I am afraid to buy because they may have similar issues. I think it is ridiculous that they have stopped producing batteries for this model, particularly since battery problems are well documented. It seems inappropriate that I will have a drone that works fine but can't use when the battery fails. If they are going to support their products like this I have no interest in upgrading to another Autel product and would strongly recommend that others think twice before they spend $1,000 on a product they aren't going to be able to buy parts for.

ALLTEL drone It is a great piece of a equipment. The drone crashed on Christmas Day due to a pre-programmed returned home at 25% of battery life. The drone was approximately 80 feet away from me. If I could’ve flown it straight to me the drone would’ve not crashed. After talking to Alejandra at ALLTEL customer service. I am very unhappy with the way he is handled this issue. I don’t know how this case is going to be resolved but you might need to find a different drone company or they need to fire Alejandra.

Great customer service.

I contacted Autel by email as I required a new battery and charger for my Evo drone. I had tried to order on their website but it won't accept orders for the UK. Alejandro replied and explained the reason I could not order was that the drone isn't for sale in the UK so I can't order with a UK address. He very quickly worked out a solution so I could get my accessories and sent an invoice for the order. I sent my first email at 21:20pm UK time and the order was completed by 22:45pm. This has to be without a doubt the best customer service I have received. I highly recommend Autel as a company especially their customer service. I would also advise people thinking of a drone to consider the Evo as an alternative to other named brands.

Read before you buy Autel x-Star Premium Drone

This is just my experience, on my 2nd XSP. The first flew away because of a FC failure, but they said I also updated my firmware when I should not have. Yet on the EXP adjustment menu where you can set your controller stick gain, it said I needed to update the firmware on my craft. Anyways I was without a drone for a month. I have had my replacement all of a week, and it is now gone because of a compass failure. Don't read this as a statement trying to bash reputation, because I am not. But if I can save you from loosing an expensive aerial camera, then I have helped and done my part.

I would like to say I am dissapointed in the ability of the controller to record hardware level information in the event of a flyaway. If you do not have the ability to recover your drone in the event of a crash or loss, it is a very limited flight recorded that Autel uses to determine fault and warranty replacement. The data that is left can be iterpreted in favor of the craft and pilot error too easily. So just be prepared for an unfavorable outcome if you do loose your XSP. I would reccomend waiting until they correct this, because it is possible to capture more information then they are currently doing. Also if you do have an XSP and your compass indicator on the flight app is erratic, don't fly it even if it passes calibration as this is not recorded properly by the flight recorder. I would also invest in a beacon system so you have a better chance of recovering proof of such issues and not be out over $1200 after extra batteries props and filters etc. My outcome is still up in the air, but either way if my drone is replaced I am selling it just based on what I know now about how they determine fault. In my opinion the unit works well when it does work, so did the 3DR Solo. The Solo was awesome but very unstable when it comes to being consistant. I will say though when my first Solo malfunctioned, they were able to determine a motor pod failure from the log in the controller and they replaced my craft and my gopro hero 3 with a hero 4 black and I paid $100 for the upgraded gopro is all. I purchased a DJI Phantom 3 Standard for my brother for a trip to see my Father to enable him to Fly in the mountians he lives in before he leaves us, and I have yet to have my Autel's make it a few flights before the trip. The DJI has crashed into power lines, trees, flipped, and even got rained on, still has yet to have a single issue. So If I had it my way, DJI would remake the Solo and that would be my goto aerial imagery tool. But as much as I wanted to have anything but what everyone else has, DJI has won me over after having 3DR, Xiro, Hubsan, Parrot, Aosenma, and a few others all eventually become a letdown. I wish all pilots have a great experience no matter what brand they do buy, just thought I would share with you my thoughts and maybe help ensure a few others don't learn the hard way such as I.
