Completely Unprofessional Presenter

I have just attended an online session - ADHD-Understanding Executive Functioning is key to understanding ADHD. The presenter was completely unprofessional and couldn't handle being called out on the points she was making. She got visibly annoyed and argumentative when she realised she didn't have any facts to back up her points. In terms of the actual presentation, there was no new information given that a quick google wouldn't give you. She explained plenty about what people's problems are but gave no actual help or support suggestions. If you struggle with motivation "just motivate yourself" or if you forget things "just set an alarm". Great advice! Telling people that because they have ADHD they also have autism in my opinion isn't helpful either especially when she then went on to say she isn't a doctor. Waste of an hour and definitely would not recommended these people in any way. I am sure most people in the group have left that session feeling worse than when they began and still with no answers. A few good points were brought up such as selective mutism as a response to situations but again no real information on how to deal with it.

Thank you for your feedback.

Autism spectrum disorder and ADHD are related in several ways. ADHD is not on the autism spectrum, but they have some of the same symptoms. And having one of these conditions increases the chances of having the other.

Experts have changed the way they think about how autism and ADHD are related. The fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) said that a person couldn’t have autism and ADHD. But the newest version (DSM-5), published in 2013, allows for a person to be diagnosed with both.
As i said in the presentation, I read all new research that emerges from academics that are researching autism and ADHD. This gives the the latest upcoming discussions from professionals.

To have someone come onto my presentation and say i am giving wrong information is rude and damning to my reputation.

My presentation was for others to gain a better understanding of Executive functioning skills and how they impact a person. Which will be different for everyone.

Sorry to have wasted your hour.

An Invaluable Resource and Support 💛

I’m made to feel so welcome and visible! The presentations are always delivered so clearly and trickle light onto just enough information which leaves the latter half of the talks open with ample time for further discussion, enquiry, resources, shared experiences and tips. The Advocates are such great listeners and will adjust their delivery and clarification should anyone experience having difficulties. They have been an invaluable resource which makes me feel supported and wholly connected. I can’t wait to see where they go from here!

Really informative presentation and a great introduction to understanding sensory processing disorder. It's given me an idea of where to start looking a bit deeper into some of the issues some people may experience with processing their environment.
