I had a great experience with the customer service, especially with Carmen. She was very helpful, friendly, and professional throughout. I really recommend this car hire company and would definitely use them again. Excellent customer service! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Extremely deceptive and unprofessional business practices by Autovia and Ecovia in Puglia. I paid a premium total of €700 for a 7 day rental, averaging €100 daily which included third-party (DiscoverCars) Full Coverage Insurance and a €95 one-way drop-off fee from Brindisi Airport to Bari Airport. I contractually booked a mid-tier family Compact SUV (Ford Puma). Instead, they forced us into a low-spec, stripped-down commercial passenger delivery van (Ford Tourneo) with boxy sliding doors and absolutely zero factory navigation software. Navigating an unfamiliar delivery van through a foreign country on unknown roads with no built-in dashboard maps is stressful.
Since the insurance was through the booking platform, the agent informed me at the desk that any potential damage would have to be paid out-of-pocket first and then reimbursed. However, receiving such a low-spec vehicle for premium SUV pricing is completely unacceptable.
Worse yet, out of the money paid at the desk, €160 was an itemized premium fee specifically for two child safety seats. In return, they handed us a generic black seat and a worn, completely unpadded blue plastic booster sleeve. This booster retails brand new in local Italian shops for under €15. Charging a family €160 for €30 worth of cheap, substandard plastic equipment is an outrageous and unfair overcharge for a family safety feature. Do not trust their 'upgrade' or 'similar vehicle' excuses. They pocket premium money for family SUVs and hand you rock-bottom commercial delivery vans. If you are traveling to Puglia with children, avoid Autovia and Ecovia at all costs.

Very pleasant experience. Got upgraded to a much better (practically brand new) car for free. Staff was very polite and helpful. No issues with booking or extra charges.

This review concerns the Autovia Palermo Airport desk that handled my collection on 8 August 2026. I arrived on time with my passport, driving licence and original physical UK American Express card. The card was in my name but, as is standard on many UK Amex cards, it displayed my first-name initial and surname. The desk refused to release the prepaid vehicle solely because my first name was not printed in full.
I received no vehicle, keys or practical alternative assistance. My family was left stranded and I had to arrange an emergency replacement rental costing £1,515.65. The replacement company accepted the same card without difficulty.
Regardless of the booking intermediary, refusing a prepaid vehicle over this card-name format—with no workable solution at the desk—was an extremely stressful and expensive experience. Customers using UK-issued Amex cards should obtain written confirmation before travelling that the precise printed name format will be accepted.

Everything went well with the rental. Car was lovely and service was good. Gentleman on counter was helpful although both times went there he was alone, so we had to wait a bit.

I booked car hire via Ryan AIr with Autovia/Ecovia. However when I presented at Autovia/Ecovia desk at Pisa Airport their representative refused to release car at the airport desk on pretext that they claimed my credit card to be used for deposit payment was from a “digital bank”. All other documentation was in order and not disputed eg credit card in my name as lead driver, valid confirmation email and valid ID.
However credit card presented was a VISA physical card, was not virtual payment card and is not issued by a “digital bank” as confirmed by my credit card company. I have used this credit card without any issue for previous car hire in the past including at Pisa Airport. The rental agreement received from Ryan Air furthermore makes no reference to “digital banks” as not being acceptable
Autovia/Ecovia therefore had no right to refuse my card.
What is a significant concern is that Autovia/Ecovia representative at the desk at Pisa was then prepared to release the car if I was prepared to pay a non-refundable “protection fee” of €300 to Autovia/Ecovia using the very same VISA credit card which they had earlier refused. I was appalled by this. This is at best poor practice and at worst potentially fraudulent.
To add to the extremely stressful experience Autovia/Ecovia representative was unhelpful and unsympathetic throughout.
We were forced to hire a car with another company at the airport at a much higher rate. This other car hire company had no problems accepting the very same credit card which Autovia/Ecovia had earlier refused
I have contacted Autovia Customer care direct but to date I have only received a perfunctory AI generated response from them saying that they will look into this incident.
A truly appalling experience from the start which has has ruined my vacation.
1/5 star rating is the lowest I was able to give in order to leave a review but if given the choice I would have given 0/5.

Awful experience. They would not accept a Revolut Mastercard as this "was not a real bank" and tried to charge us 48 Euro extra per day. The lady in Sardinia Cagliari airport was incredibly rude and told us to wait for 1 hour for the manager. Would not recommend. Useless

The experience was very good. The pick-up and drop-off process was very quick and straightforward. The staff were also very helpful and professional. Most importantly, they don’t try to surprise you with hidden or extra charges when you return the vehicle. Very professional and trustworthy.

I recently rented a car from Autovia and had a very disappointing experience. Although I had reserved and paid for a Volkswagen T‑ROC, I was given a BYD ATTO 2, which is a clearly inferior category. No explanation or compensation was offered for the downgrade.
On top of that, I was forced to purchase full insurance at €56 per day because I did not present a physical credit card for the deposit. I did provide a valid digital credit card, but the staff refused to accept it, leaving me with no choice but to pay the extra cost.
The employee who attended us was unhelpful and unfriendly, making the whole process even more unpleasant.
I contacted Autovia’s customer service with a detailed complaint, but I never received any response. email: info
Overall, the experience resulted in unexpected costs, poor service, and a vehicle downgrade. I cannot recommend this company based on how we were treated.

Significant delay on arrival at Bari Airport. Car did not arrive, staff were very confused and helpless. Had to accept a damaged car as office was about to close. Drop off at Naples airport - staff member was also very unhelpful and was charged for petrol despite filling up just outside the airport. Would definitely not recommend.

I had a problem with my credit card, and we proposed to the office employee to buy the service of a second driver for my wife, so she could use her credit card only for the deposit, because the total payment of the rental invoice was prepaid online. The employee didn't accept, making pressure on us that she wouldn't rent the car. And then she proposed us to buy the highest insurance possible, so it wouldn't be necessary to make a deposit. I emphasize that the insurance amount was 250 euro approximately, and we had rented the car for 170 euro. We accepted because we understood that that there wasn't other way. What we noticed next was that she had blocked even the amount of the deposit form my debit card, the one that was used to pay the insurance.

I have rarely experienced worse customer service. We spent around three hours at this office simply waiting to get our rental car.
The entire process was painfully slow and inefficient. Employees would repeatedly interrupt the customer they were dealing with to answer phone calls, meaning even straightforward requests took an unreasonable amount of time.
We needed to change the main driver on the booking, which they initially refused to do. Only after we paid an additional €600 insurance fee did they suddenly agree to make the change.
Communication was another major issue. For a rental office located at an international airport, where a significant proportion of customers will inevitably be from abroad, the level of English spoken by the staff was surprisingly poor. On top of that, we found several members of staff rude and unhelpful.
And this clearly wasn't an isolated experience: during the approximately three hours we were there, we witnessed at least four other customers complaining about the service.
The whole experience was unnecessarily stressful, expensive and incredibly frustrating. I would only recommend booking here to my worst enemies.
In addition they still haven't released the holding deposit charge on my credit card despite it being a month since we returned the vehicle.

This was my first time renting a car from Autovia, and the entire experience at Brindisi Airport was very smooth, from collecting the keys to returning the vehicle.
The staff were friendly, professional and helpful throughout the rental. Sara was especially helpful, and the staff member who assisted us when we returned the car was equally welcoming and professional.
A €900 security deposit was pre-authorised on my card when I collected the vehicle. The day after returning the car, I checked my account and the pre-authorisation was no longer showing. The process has been handled smoothly so far.
Based on my personal experience, I would happily rent from Autovia again and recommend the Brindisi Airport branch.
Thank you for the friendly and professional service.

This company is disgusting, the staff at pisa airport are so rude . Made a mistake and forgot my credit card, my wife booked it on her credit card but put me as the main driver , they wouldn't let us change the main driver to my wifes name, they said if we get intouch with the broker which we did we would have to wait 3hours for another car. Spoke with the broker again because we were meeting people and he said if you cancel you would lose 150euros . After been in the airport for 3hour we booked with someone else. Don't mind losing 150 euros we made a genuine mistake but your trying to put it down as a no show which is bullshit and charge the full price, You need to give your employees a lesson in customer relations so arrogant. My advice do not use this company
