UPDATE ON THE LAKES AT ROOKLEY

UPDATE ON THE LAKES AT ROOKLEY: Don't bother to go to This COMPANY FULLSTOP. My Experience was the most Awful experience ive ever had , unless you want to be shouted out but what was supposed to be staff and spend time in the smelliest and filthiest place ive ever experience and believe me ive travelled in my past, the only time this place maybe fitting is at Halloween to be scared , shouted at and literally have rats in the accommodation with you, I didn't have the pleasure of the rats , so i guess i had a lucky escape. I stand by what i said initially, it NEEDS CONDEMNING.
It has put me off ever going to a holiday park ever again and i WONT and even holidaying in the UK , NOT GREAT FOR THE ISLE OF WIGHT TOURIST BOARD. Just make sure you spend your free time or holidays , where you are looked after by Staff and its basically clean and you feel welcomed, the only memories i have are NIGHTMARES not good ones. I had to fight my Bank even though I paid with my Credit Card to get all my money back from this stinking place. P. S. if you write a bad review don't even get a review.

Hot tub not working for 50% of stay

We had a exclusive lakeside lodge with hot tub, cost £562 for 2 nights for 4 adults 17th-19th January. Lodge was nice, price was good for what the experience should have been.

Firstly we arrived and all unpacked around 17:00 on Friday, the freezer/fridge not on. Thinking nothing of it we carried on, disappointed we couldn't put our food in but knowing we'd get it sorted we continued and we'd be eating the food that night we just planned to cook it, but the oven wasn't working either, gas yes electricity no.

As this was happening 2 of our group went to get in the hot tub only to realise that wasn't working either, we rang reception who insisted somebody would be out urgent, approximately 60-90 mins later somebody arrived, by this point we'd attempted to get in the hot tub but as it wasn't working it was cool water and freezing cold temperatures outside, so not possible.

Having spoke to the man that came out we had the conclusion the hot tub was tripping all the electrics off and so we couldn't have the hot tub on. Assured it would be rectified first thing Saturday morning as the team wasn't on (Friday night).

09:00 came Saturday morning and we'd heard nothing, I again rang reception to be told they couldn't see anything but would raise it as an urgent, approximately 90 mins later and 2 lads turned up (the hot tub team) they drained it down put chemicals etc in and made the assessment water had gotten into the control panel causing the whole lodges electrics to trip out. Assured it was rectified the lads left, another hour passes and the tub wasn't getting hot, sticking at around 30, again we tried to get in and it wasn't fixed, not getting hot, no jets working or light inside the tub.

Again I phoned for somebody to come out, the same lads came out drained it and filled back up with hot water just saying it was the issue but left and nothing else said. Again when we went to get in the tub it had dropped to 27°. I phoned again, the same 2 lads came out, told us the heating element needed to be changed, control panel sealed and jets changed as they were broke.

Eventually around 17:00 on Saturday it was fixed all we had to wait for was the hot water to fill it up in order to get to temp quicker and we could use it. Around 18:00 this was done and we was able to use the hot tub as intended. By this point we were all fed up having booked for a great experience relaxing weekend away and unfortunately not being able to enjoy the main attraction which was the hot tub, that being so we were also waiting in all day for the lads to be back and forth to fix it so didn't end up leaving the lodge.

I was given an email address by the receptionist (who was very sorry and fantastic help) I sent an email on the 20th of January to which I've still had no response on the 31st of January.

I will add I've been to Tattershall twice previously and not had the issues however this was a disaster from the start for us, we were celebrating 3 out of 4 guests 40th birthdays and unfortunately has left a sour feeling and memories from it.

Tattershall Lakes (Absolutely FANTASTIC place) via Sun Holidays

Booked a long weekend stay (17th - 20th Jan 2025) via the Sun holidays website using the codes collected.

It had cost us £130 for a 3-night stay for 3 Adults and 2 Children.

We stayed at Tattershall Lakes in Lincolnshire, we had a 3 bedroom, 2 toilet caravan with central heating and radiators.

We were given Entertainment Passes for the duration of our stay for free and had access to the Pool and all other amenities.

Included with our stay, the gas/electric was free/in with the cost of our stay (£130) - You can barely get a hotel room for 1 night for that price, let alone 3 nights for 5 people!

The caravan was huge and immaculate, very well looked after and maintained.

We had an INCREDIBLE stay and we can't wait to go again in the near future.. We love to travel but we love travelling on a budget the most.. You'll be hard pressed to find another bargain like this anywhere else in the UK, we would 100% recommend a stay here.

The place is very well equipped for most people, lots of things going on so you'll never be bored.

A family member loved it so much she's thinking about buying a caravan there so she can stay anytime.

Mmmmm Sandy Balls

Mmmmm. We stayed in an exclusive up to 10 berth lodge. I am so glad there were only 7 adults and two toddlers in travel cots because the sofa beds were unusable. I lifted the cushions and quickly put them back. There was rubbish under them!
When staying with toddlers, we also had our dog with us I always bring my own hoover. So glad I do as I filled it on my first clean with it.
The guttering around the cabin was broken in some areas and dripping. The worst spots were right in front of the front door. A bucket with a mop was conveniently placed there but filled quickly. The weather was at minus temperature during our stay so the deck area around our cabin was like a skating rink.
When I mentioned the problem a very small mat was provided to place in front of the door that quickly froze too.
The decking used around the cabins is very poorly designed as there are no gaps for water to drain through, it just pools, making it very dangerous and slippery especially when frozen.
Good stuff:
The cabin was very warm, we had WiFi. Beds were comfortable and lots of storage space. Cooker worked, fridge and freezer adequate. There was a dishwasher and a washing machine.
The hot tub was lovely and looked after every day by maintenance, it’s a pity same isn’t said for the lodge as it did need some outside maintenance.
The facilities around the site are nice : the pool was lovely and used every day by us. Toddlers pool nice and warm and the sauna lovely touch.
The soft play area is lovely too but was cold during our stay, had to keep moving.
Restaurant Open odd days during our stay. We had a lovely meal at the pub (fighting cks) down the road.
The pub does good coffee and the staff were lovely there. The shop is very expensive so bring your own basics with you.
The walks are wonderful too, our dog had a great stay.
A suggestion:
Towel Hire!!!
Why can’t one fee be charged for towel hire for the duration of your stay allowing a towel drop after each use and fresh dry changes each time like hotels do.???

Tattershall Lakes Christmas 2024

We stayed here for Christmas 2024
23rd to 28th, Upon arriving we checked in with the guest service, we was greeted by lovely staff that was very helpful, we got on site for 12:30 and was handed our keys straight away which was a bonus as you normally Can’t get into our accommodation until 2:30

We stopped in one of the rockstar lodges once we got into the accommodation it was all clean and tidy, our son loved his bedroom as it was Equipped with three single beds and two TVs which he thought was amazing

Site staff was extremely helpful, polite and friendly

The only downfall to the rockstar was the mattress. It was very uncomfortable.

Plenty of towels provided

Hot tub was brilliant was filled up and ready to go upon our arrival

Onsite shop was very expensive but we found a co-op 4min drive from the entrance

Food was lovely on site

We saw Santa on Christmas Eve which was very magical he cost £25 per child

If you have never been I would download there app in advance as there is a list of all activities available to pay for in advance

We would definitely recommend this place as a lovely break away, would love to visit in the summer x

**Away Resort Review: Not Quite the Escape We Expected**

Our stay at Away Resort came with more challenges than anticipated. The main concerns we faced included:

1. **Lack of Reception After Hours**: Once the working hours were over, there was no reception staff available to assist with any queries or issues that arose.

2. **No Emergency Contact**: In case of emergencies such as power outages or lack of hot water, there was no one to contact for immediate help. This lack of support was quite alarming.

3. **Poor Network Connectivity**: The network connectivity was almost non-existent, which meant no light, no Wi-Fi. This significantly affected our ability to communicate and stay connected.

Overall, these issues turned our supposedly relaxing getaway into a rather stressful experience. Improvements in these areas would greatly enhance the comfort and convenience of future guests.

---

I hope this captures your experience effectively. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to add or modify!

Great for whole family!

We’ve stayed here on several occasions now and it’s a great, affordable break for the whole family!

We’ve been in all seasons, and there’s always something to do.

Only advice would be to ensure you bring things like tea towels, washing up liquid, etc. as they’re not provided!

St Ives Bay Filthy accommodation

WARNING!! St Ives Bay Holiday Park....definitely not a holiday. This park was acquired by Away Resorts in 2021, since when standards have plummeted. Filthy accommodation, site very scruffy and the beautiful decking area at the Sands Bistro/Bar/Pool end of the park replaced with block paving, litter and cigarette butt strewn, left the site after realising how badly this previously family owned site had gone downhill and received a full refund. I can only think of one word to describe the whole experience....Filthy! Away Resorts are still using outdated photographs on their website, what you get when you arrive is not necessarily what you think you paid for when you booked. AVOID. Just booking our next summer holiday in Cornwall, as indeed others will be, time for this review as I don't like to leave negative reviews, I would really like to avoid anyone experiencing the same shock as we did.

Booked a weekend away at Mersea Island

Booked a weekend away at Mersea Island. We wasn't expecting half of what we got when we arrived.
I firstly booked a basic caravan, then noticed we had been upgraded to a luxury caravan.
Heating was already on when we arrived which was a plus point, accommodation was lovely and clean, washing up accessories provided.. my 18 year old dog loved his welcome box.
I didn't know that the onsite facilities wouldn't be open, so I googled well in advance what was in the area. There is a lovely pub nearby called the Dog & Pheasant, good food and at an affordable price.
We only meant to use the caravan as a base, but for the price paid, away resorts have gone above and beyond.
I myself have worked in tourism for 20 years and I will say, if you have an issue with your accommodation report it straight away. If not much is open, have a look online at what's in the area. It's only you that can make your holiday, so make the best of it!

Booked to stay at Freshwater

Booked to stay at Freshwater, IOW weekend 6th -8th Dec, then storm Darragh hit the whole country! With national news advising everyone to not travel unless its essential, we rang Away Resorts on the Fri am of our holiday booking, to see if we could amend our booking to the following week. We spoke to Steve Dunn the custoner service manager for the company, who was so unhelpful! Would not alow any amendment, only if the weather forecast went to a red warning!! So we managed to get to the IOW and our holiday cottage, but we are now having a 6 hour delay waiting to find out if we can get a ferry home today! Away Resorts and Steve Dunn need to review their customer service policy with regards to adverse weather conditions, and i suggest a course in good customer service management training for senior management... such a shame as the whole team at Freshwater were amazing, thank you

Would rather stay in privately owned accommodation rather then Away Resorts accommodation

Been to the Tattershall Lakes park many of times before but it's always been at caravans that was privately owned, so this was the first time we have stayed in an Away Resorts accommodation.

We chose a luxury lodge....didn't get any luxury though.

Was supposed to be an 8 birth Lodge with the sofa bed, but was only set up for 6. Had to ask for the spare bedding to have covers, spare cutlery and glasses, only 6 chairs but apparently the site had no spares and they only suggestions was either eat sat on the sofa or eat in shifts. Very minimal cooking equipment like pans and trays. Would recommend you bring your own stuff if you want to cook.

As we had a child with us we booked to see the shows and mrs claus kitchen, the show on the Saturday started earlier then on the ticket, ticket says 730pm start but it started at 7pm. Mrs claus kitchen was rushed, not very organised and for the price was pretty naff.

We love Tattershall lakes... However...

Firstly I'd like to say how much we love Tattershall lakes and we go numerous times year .... however ... there are many things that need to be improved in order to make it even better and make it thrive in the future.
We normally stay I'm a petfree lakeside lodge with fishing peg and all we have had a couple of issues with the accommodation in the past and Tattershall rectified this by offering large sums of money off future holidays, this last weekend we went left us the most disappointed we've every been .
We recently brought a dog so we changed our accommodation to pet friendly and we were extremely disappointed with the cleanliness of the lodge , it was carpeted and absolutely filthy !! The worst iv ever seen if im honest and I'm a very clean person so this had me on edge straight away .There was also the overwhelming smell of dog which to some extent I can expect because it pet friendly however my own home doesn't smell of dog and I work very hard to keep it clean so I would expect the same level of cleanliness when I'm paying hundreds of pounds to stay for 3 nights .
Other issues we had this time were the kitchen sink didn't drain properly and had a foul smell like a blocked drain and also the master shower tray just filled up with water when showering which isn't supposed to happen .
The lake we were on was the smallest iv ever seen and my partner caught nothing the whole weekend and iv never seen him so disappointed when fishing at Tattershall because the normal lake we stay in he catches 15lb plus carp !! His biggest was 25lb!!
Some positives to the weekend were the pantomimes ( brilliant ) great atmosphere, lovely food, kids love the activities, arcade etc all this stuff we love.
Upon leaving I meet a lovely lady called Andrea ( security) and she happen to ask me how my stay was so I was brutally honest with her and she wrote my concerns down about the lodge and said she would speak to someone in the office.
She also asked on things I thought Tattershall could improve on and coming from someone who would like yo own a caravan on the site one day Iv many ideas of things that could be added to improve peopls stay .
1- Having a golf cart style service to chauffeur you to and from your caravan especially at night when you may of had a couple of drinks and don't want to walk 25 mins to the other side of the park . Obviously you would have to pay for this service which I would be more them happy to do .
2- More things for the little kids to do like a soft play or a better park , in peak times the park is far far to small for all the families.
3- Give customers a choice of what lodge they stay in , this would help massively in making sure you have the best stay .
4- when booking a fishing holiday have some information in the caravan explaining what fish are in the lake your on and even a book that other anglers can write in what they have caught , it's the little things like this can make a big difference.
5- WIFI this has to be a big one that needs sorting out immediately. It's impossible to connect to the WiFi in the further parts of the park even if the password has been left .
It really needs improving to make your more chilled out stay more enjoyable in the caravan.
There are alot of thi gs that could be improved upon and I really hope that Tattershall can take people feed back on board and make some changes.
And massive thanks to Andrea for taking time out to see how our stay was and reassuring us she was dedicated to making Tattershall an even better place then it already is.

Nice view of the lake definitely not luxury accommodation

This was our second stay at The Bay Filey, first time in Indulgent Meadow Lodge and this time in an Exclusive Lake Side Lodge.

How could standards of cleanliness and levels of customer service deteriorate so much in a 12-month period?

From walking into the lodge, you could tell the general cleanliness was poor with numerous cobwebs and a layer of dust on the picture frames and mirrors etc. Unfortunately, on further inspection it was identified that there was blood splatter on the lounge blind, crisp and crumbs on soft furnishings in the lounge , mould inside the sink unit drawers in the shower room, ensuite shower drain was full of hair/scum and worse of all human faecal matter on the toilet brush. Maintenance defects included a broken rear port hall window, faulty pop up waste to ensuite sink preventing it from draining and fraying to bedroom carpet.

With regards to the furnished accommodation the illustrative pictures on the Away Resorts web site bear no resemblance to the actual furniture in the open plan dining and living area. Lodge is for four persons but there was only three dining chairs and lounge seating for three. TV is 32inch flat screen with basic Freeview channels only, It is not a smart TV so no access to on demand services.

A complaint was raised on the first day of our stay and after finally speaking face to face with the accommodation manager the lodge was subject to further cleaning and additional furniture being made available by day three of our stay.

As per Away Resorts strapline "Discover Different and Make Memories" we certainly did but our experience is not the sort of memories you would want to make.

Finally nice view of the lake but definitely not luxury accommodation

Just came back from a 4 day nightmare…

Just came back from a 4 day nightmare at golden sands Rhyl run by away resorts
I have never seen a caravan that dirty in my life absolutely disgustingly filthy smelly full of dog hairs even tho we payed for a pet free van the furniture was that dirty they finally came and took all the cushion away to clean them leaving us with nothing to sit on when the cushions came back they were soaking wet so we still had nothing to sit on for 4 days.we could not cook or eat in the caravan it was that bad so we had to eat out every day that got very expensive by the end of our stay the staff on site had no idea how to do there jobs only after arriving back home 4 days later I finally received a phone call from the manager at golden sands Rhyl and she told me she knew nothing about it has her employees had not passed on my issues to her and they were just trying to make it go away it won’t ever go away I will be contacting the 3 owners of the site and will wait and see how that goes I would just like to say I would not recommend golden sands in Rhyl to anyone you will
Definitely regret wasting your money at this place I am very surprised none of us came down with anything but that’s probably because we spent a fortune on cleaning products ourselves when we left that caravan it was a thousand times cleaner than it was when we got there absolutely disgusting golden sands Robert
