Card Security a Joke!!!!

I have had 2 cards in the space of 1 week used to sign up to websites I have not requested. A female manager in card security tried to tell me she had called, emailed and texted this is not the case as I would clearly have the calls in my register, the last text was a week before she claimed to have sent one and the email did not exist. She continued to insist she had called and that it was my fault, I asked her for her email to send a screenshot and she refused, this tells me all I need to know, pathetic customer service from BOI.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS EVER!

The customer service agents are useless and are unable to follow simple instructions. I'm supposed to receive monthly statements, but they hardly ever come (although the bank has my correct address). The customer service agents say they will send them out when I phone to complain, but they never issue the ones I request.

Worst bank ever

Worst bank ever, registering 2 times 1 payment, then the cash is blocked for few days, if you need a loan, you might as well wait to rain with cash and you get it before they would approve it..
Not a bank fot the people!
I was denied a loan of 2000 after 10 years of banking with them and few days after different bank approved 25000 loan so I closed my account and never again boi!

❌ Avoid Bank of Ireland for Mortgages

❌ Avoid Bank of Ireland for Mortgages! ❌

My mortgage application with Bank of Ireland has been a super slow and frustrating experience.
Every time I uploaded a document, it took more than 5 working days for review, and they never ever inform one time as one set, dragging out the process unnecessarily.
Even at the final stage, the delays continued. Communication was poor, and the entire process felt outdated and inefficient.

If I had to do it again, I would never choose Bank of Ireland.
If you value speed, efficiency, and good service, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere!

I applied for a loan with bank of Ireland declined

I applied for a loan with bank of Ireland for 3,000 euro which was declined it took over a month to here from the bank the requested my contract of employment and a second payslip almost one month from the date I originally submitted the new loan.
I sent in a complaint online and I was told I had an overdraft which I used a fair bit over the past year that was the reason my loan was declined.
My credit history was fine but my overdraft was the problem on this occasion.
Bank of Ireland has always declined loan applications from me there's always some excuses to decline they can't really be bothered with small loans the bank is not interested in the ordinary working person they were bailed out during the financial crash in the Irish government had to use tax payers money to bail them out back in 2008/09 so why don't they help people now?.
Is the something bigger going on? Who does the bank of Ireland serve? It would seem to be the case it's the very wealthy in society.
Is the Irish government behind shifting non desirable customers to leave and go to the Credit Union what need is there for the bank of Ireland as the computer says no.

2 weeks for them to send a bank statement

2 weeks for them to send a bloody bank statement. Nearly missed out on being able to buy a house because of them (...as if it wasn't hard enough). And when you call them to check on the status, their system is conveniently down so they are unable to check. Why would anyone choose to take out a mortgage with them if this is the level of incompetence they show? Other banks let you download the statements instantly without any hassle. BOI are quickly becoming obsolete. AND they charge us for their woeful service and poor UX design. I will be switching banks in the near future for sure.

Bank of Ireland has been the worst…

Bank of Ireland has been the worst banking experience I’ve ever had—and I’ve banked in both New Zealand and the UK. Their app is outdated, glitchy, and frustrating to use. I closed my personal account after they started charging €6 per month for what, exactly? A terrible user experience and an archaic banking system.

Now, my credit card—which I’ve had since 2023—has completely disappeared from the app. I can’t make 3D Secure payments, check my balance, or view transactions. It’s beyond frustrating.

I’ve moved all my banking to Revolut and am seriously considering cancelling my credit card, cutting ties with Bank of Ireland for good.

If you want poor visibility of your transactions and no visibility of your subscriptions - opt in for the account there. I tried to cancel unwanted (scam) subscription and it is impossible, They advised me to contact the scammer. So I had to cancel my credit card completely. No more credit card with them anymore.

Appalling app

Appalling app. You have to renter personal details when opening a new savings account USING THE APP! Then you wait 2 weeks and eventually are texted the new account number which you have to manually enter back in to the app for viewing. Even then they may refuse to add the new account to the app. When you ring customer service to fix it they don’t understand the problem. When you go in to the branch staff are obliged to ring the same clueless call centre in SE Asia ( and the problem is not fixed) Seriously awful.
Also if requesting withdrawal (in app) from savings account to current account takes 3 working days!

Great customer experience

I had called BOI for the first time after I needed some assistance regarding my mortgage I already have with them. Everyone I spoke to was really helpful and they got me through the to the department I needed once I explained what I may need. Hats off to Steve Gribbon he was such a pleasure to speak to, I really appreciated his time and efforts with me. He followed through on every thing he said he would do in an efficient manner! Really couldn't complain with the service. Thanks BOI and more so to Steve, he's a credit to your company!

What's wrong with this "bank"

What's wrong with this "bank"? I opened an account. Got confirmation, got a card, got a PIN. Just no account number.

They won't give it to me either, I've called three times and sent emails. I can't get my account number! Is it stupidity or fraud?

I had a disappointing experience with…

I had a disappointing experience with Bank of Ireland. The process for [specific issue, e.g., opening an account, resolving a transaction] was extremely slow and inefficient, and I found it difficult to get clear answers from customer support. I believe there’s a lot of room for improvement in terms of communication and responsiveness. I hope the bank can streamline their processes and prioritize better customer service in the future.

Go BOI

I recently had the misfortune to be persuaded to join facebook, i should explain that i am part of a generation that grew up before mobile phones and the internet were invented, I was amazed at all the bargains being advertised and since covid have been more used to ordering stuff online and so ploughed in to order a number of things from these adverts, never dreaming that fb would be complicit in allowing so many (if any) scam ads on their platform.
The only saving grace was the fact that my means of financing the purchases was a boi credit card and i have to say that they have been brilliant in helping me to recover my money from the "non delivery" scams so far. It seems that there is no fool like an old fool so I still have 2 more false purchases to work through but I would have no hope of doing it if I had used a transfer or debit card.
Thanks again BOI I dont know where i would have been without u the last 40 years, you go everywhere with me and have been all round the world several times at this stage and helped with purchases, from the local creamery to airplane tickets from sao paulo. Keep up the good work!

Outsourced Customer Service is Disappointing

It's very sad that you cannot speak to an Irish person when you contact an Irish Bank. To have communications fully outsourced is sad to the Irish economy. I've called three times to complete a simple request; each time being told I would called back only to never hear from them again. Can we have customer service agents in Ireland who understand us?

Myles O'Grady has NO CLUE how to run a bank

Having workers in other countries is no problem as it saves costs. But when the cannot speak THE MOST BASIC of English, and repeat the same question over and over because they do not understand, then it reflects poorly on Myles O'Grady - so sir, pull up your socks.

Stuck in the 80s

Stuck in the 80s. Their app is primitive. Their business processes are worse. For example, was told three different things by three different people about opening another bank account with them. This is what a dominant position will do for innovation, zero.

The worst Bank Ever

I had applied for a car loan and it was rejected by the underwriter without giving any reasons. When, I tried to contact them to find out the reason firstly, I was not able to contact the deciding authority. So, whoever answered my calls, they were all like worse than robots, just reading the dialogue paper Infront of them. I didn't get a feeling that I was speaking to a human. They are useless. They are pretending like listening to me but actually not. Because, whatever I give my reasons, they gonna repeat the same thing over and over again. Before rejecting the loan, at least they could discuss with me and get more information that might enhance my application. No courtesy...to do so.
