Don't fit properly, uncomfortable
Shoes don't fit properly and are not comfortable. Requested a return/exchange and had to pay another R200.

I bought a pair of shoes in December and needed to have them swapped for a bigger size. After a lengthy process of “applying to exchange” they eventually came to fetch the shoes and i still haven’t heard back from them. I even had to pay to have them exchanged, and stil no news after many attempts to contact

False advertising
Shoe is advertised as a zero drop sole, it is not. Company only offers returns on non discounted and non special offer items but all their items are discounted meaning they sell you a shoe that isn’t what they say it is and then conveniently offer no returns on said item. A scam if I’ve ever seen one.

Shoes are great, but generic, saw a bunch of different brands on Temu or Instagram that look exactly the same, would buy again but not for the price for a generic item

Very Comfortable
The Barestep shoes were comfortable from my first wearing. I have some hip and balance problems and I notice that I feel much more comfortable in reference to these issues when I am walking in my Barestep shoes.

I was excited to purchase tgese shoes while they were affordable and made sense.
However, I ordered two weeks ago and their tracking is non-existent. I have sent 4 emails with inquiries and recieved zero replies, not even a courteous form reply. Anyway, as a e-commerce business owner, I am understanding of shipping delays but the lack of customer service is a deal breaker for me. With the immense competition one would think a smaller company might try harder.
Tracking system is simply non existent, it does not update.
Emails go without any reply.

TEMU SHOES & THEFT FROM ONLY SENDING HALF OF MY ORDER
I see now from the pictures that your product has changed from being authentic to just adding “barestep” to Temu shoes. My order was for 2 pairs, I only received 1 and within a few days the lace has snapped. Probably my fourth time gently putting them on. Your business has become a scam and I will share this comment everywhere to ensure that others don’t succumb to this lie.
Shoes never received. No response to inquiry!
I placed my order on February 3rd. Today is February 17 and I haven't heard from this company since then. I've emailed several times to try and locate my order but haven't even received the courtesy of a response. Perhaps I'm the outlier but I'm still waiting and I caution anybody contemplating ordering from this company to be very cautious!!!
Very Unhappy a dissatisfied with lack of attention to my order
Since the date of order as recorded below, I have had no communication regarding the intended delivery date.

I have had no response to that at all
Currently it feels like Barestep do not want to communicate - The is no contact number to follow up on.

Terrible Customer Service
I placed my order in December and needed to exchange one pair. I completed the required exchange forms immediately, but only received a response two months later. After making the required payment for the exchange, the courier collected the item, and since then there has been complete radio silence. It has now been over a month since collection, with no updates, no confirmation, and no communication despite follow-ups.
This level of service is unacceptable. The delays, lack of transparency, and absence of communication show poor customer support and process management. Based on this experience, I will not purchase from Barestep again.
The most atrocious customer 'service'
We tried to buy the Black Friday deal (BOGO). Their website kept offering upsells, which we did not want and unchecked before purchase. Yet, we were still sent an extra pair of shoes (i.e. 3 pairs in total), which we were initially charged for, and were charged the unwanted shipping insurance.
We received the package only after having to contact Barestep ourselves to follow-up on why we had not received the package. We did then manage to get them to process the refund for the extra pair of shoes, but still had to pay for the unwanted shipping insurance.
Upon finally receiving the package on the 11th of December, we found that it contained 3 pairs of Active 2.0. One pair fit correctly, but we wanted to exchange the second pair, and informed them on 17 December 2025. Returns simply were not working on the mobile ssite, the have NO telephone support, and the customer support representative tooks DAYS to respond on email. In fact, they took so long to respond that we also had to change addresses for shipment twice.
We requested specific replacements that they had in stock at the time, but they've taken so long to respond that those sizes then sold out. It is currently 16/2/2026, and we still have no resolution.
The Customer service is absolutely terrible.
