It's a scam, forget about Base44, please don't do what I did. I persisted, I'm Elite 3 and I got caught red-handed modifying the code 🤣, but also your AI is buggy, your employees manipulate user data... See more

Before I committed to this subscription, I saw the negative reviews already posted here. People were flagging the same issues including credit waste, broken AI, and slow support. I chose to look past them. The marketing is convincing, the demo projects look impressive, and the website makes a strong case that this platform can replace the need to hire a developer or designer at a fraction of the cost. I wanted to believe it. I signed up on a Monday.
By the end of that first day, I had already run into a fundamental problem. The AI builder would tell me it made changes and nothing changed. I went back in, manually corrected the code myself, and tried again. Same result. The platform was not doing what it was designed to do, and I was burning through credits every single time the system told me it fixed something and did not. By the time three days had passed working on one single project, I had used roughly 80 credits. Not 80 credits building something. Eighty credits troubleshooting errors the system itself created.
I submitted two support tickets and used the AI chat to try to work through solutions in real time. It took three full days before support responded. When they did, I asked for a credit refund to cover what I lost due to system errors. Their response was that it is against company policy to issue credit refunds for system errors. The system breaks and you pay for it. That is their position.
I then requested a full refund of my purchase. That request has not been resolved.
I want to be clear that this review is fair. The platform does produce visually strong outputs when it works. The design quality is genuinely good and that is worth acknowledging. But one positive result does not make up for three days of wasted time, 80 lost credits, a support team that took three days to respond and then declined any accountability, and an unresolved refund request on a yearly subscription.
What I experienced is not an isolated incident. It is the same story repeated across multiple reviews from other customers who tried to warn people before I ever purchased. The platform overpromises in its marketing and underdelivers in practice. It does not disclose how credit heavy the troubleshooting process is or how often users end up digging through code trying to fix what the AI should have handled.
If you are a business owner or a professional trying to save money by skipping a developer or designer, this platform will cost you more than simply hiring someone who gets it done right the first time. The reviews were there before I purchased. I ignored them once. There is no reason for you to make the same choice.

Base44 is okay for getting started, but once you hit real bugs it becomes a frustrating money pit. I repeatedly got stuck in a loop where it would claim changes were implemented, yet the live preview didn’t reflect them — or a new regression would appear (layout breaking, missing UI features, even blank/white screens). Credits kept getting consumed with each attempt, and I ended up spending hours going in circles.
In my opinion, the workflow feels engineered in a way that keeps you paying: fixes don’t reliably stick, you get bounced into “one more change” after “one more change,” and you’re charged while you’re still debugging whether the previous change even made it into the running app. There’s not enough transparency or safety rails (clear diffs, reliable proof-of-change, regression checks before charging), so you can burn through credits fast without getting to an actual resolution.
If you’re building anything beyond a toy prototype, I can’t recommend it. It cost me real money and a whole day of time for basically no substantial improvement — just repeated loops.
WARNING: It breaks and adds things on purpose to eat up your credits even if you specify DO THIS ONLY. I would dearly love to meet the people who made this, as I would av' a word in their shell like, if you know what I mean. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, AND COSTS ARE YOURS OBVIOUSLY.
Hope this helps. You are welcome :)

WORTHLESS! Will make it seem like you are getting somewhere than act like it can't find it's ass from it's face and completely destroy your app. Waste of time, energy, and everything else. I'd pay for a plan, but you've already made it clear how worthless your clearly artificial and absolutely not intelligent AI is.

Extremely disappointing experience. I followed the documentation thoroughly and provided detailed instructions exactly as outlined in their PDF guides, yet continued to encounter persistent backend errors.
Core administrative features were not functioning properly, including Super Admin role management, subscription tier changes not applying, and frontend/backend state inconsistencies that resulted in pages remaining stuck in loading states. In multiple instances, authentication failed with 401 Unauthorized errors when accessing User/me, which prevented sessions from being created or maintained. Pages would appear blank until manually refreshed.
When I asked the platform’s AI why features were not working, it explicitly pointed to backend and authentication flow issues within the platform itself. However, when I contacted support, they shifted responsibility to user error rather than addressing the system-level failures. The responses were inconsistent with what their own AI diagnostics indicated.
This was not a matter of development expectations or learning curve — it involved foundational platform functionality failing, including authentication and core administrative controls. The lack of accountability, conflicting explanations, and inability to resolve platform-level issues made the service unreliable and frustrating to use.
I wanted this to work, but the experience ultimately eroded confidence in the stability of the platform.
3/3/2026 - As you can see on their response, they overlooked a lot of the factual points I mentioned. This was the same type of responses I got from their support team.

Absolute trash that doesn't come close to what it advertises. Do not spend your money here, learn how to build an app yourself and you'll get so much more for so much less.

The one star is for the initial build: pretty cool first time experience creating an app.
But I decided to get a paid plan to keep my site private as I wanted to share progress with my team. That's when things fall apart: they have NO live customer service. I just waited 24 hours to get someone on their chat who didn't read the transcript that my payment might be FRAUD. Instead of helping confirm this true or not, they just stated I was on the free account and maybe try the Forgot Password protocol.
24 hours later, they doubled down on their own narrative but because the customer (me) can't have a dialogue, key details are missing. Like, "if I'm on a free account, why has my credit card been charged?" It really sucks having no one to talk to here - it's 'insult to injury' on top of being a scary experience.
Conclusion: Cool interface but buyer beware! Don't work with these guys. Service is not acceptable if/when things goes wrong.

genuinely just a flaming pile of garbage, exactly what you'd expect from an AI company. It promises building websites for you, but the AI like always just hallucinates shit and pretends to know what the hell its doing while constantly making endless mistakes while they take your money. Do not use this service.

No support whatsoever...
So, the website can build web apps and it works faster than many competitors. However, you're locked into their backend which can make migration a hassle. They don't offer data centers outside of the US which makes PIPEDA compliance very difficult for Canadians.
But, the biggest problem with Base44 is the complete lack of human support. I submitted a ticket through their support bot. The ticket was regarding a bug in their chat system that sends duplicate messages (effectively stealing the credits you pay for). The bot said that it escalated the issue to human support and that the typical response time is within 48 hours. I waited 6 days and then sent another message checking in as I hadn't received a response. The bot assured me that someone would get to it. I waited 4 more days (10 days total). Then I get a message from the bot that it closed my ticket because it didn't get a response from me. I was still waiting for a response from their human support. There is no way to reopen a ticket, it says I have to create another ticket. I'm done wasting money and time with this nonsense.

I started using it and ran out of credits so I thought I would get a plan, do what they say you can do with a plan, generate code and use it on your space. The plan I got does not allow for that. This was not made clear until AFTER I purchased the plan. I requested a refund instantly. After a week, they closed the case. I replied because their AI bot said it was sending it to a person. A person got it, instantly closed the case stating their policy of absolutely no refunds, even if they mis-represented the abilities of the plan. Asking for the week credit I lost waiting for them to reply, will update if they do. Overall, may be OK software but they mis-represent it's abilities to lock you into contracts.
Pure trash. AI agents do not follow the outlined instructions and keep forgetting things randomly, all the freaking time.
It's a complete waste of money and nerve cells while trying to navigate the utter hot garbage generated by Base44's AI bots.
Now they advertise themselves SO MUCH on Youtube --- trying to fool people into buying this pure garbage solution. Run away, use a CLI instead in the terminal and provide instructions to it instead of using this garbage Base44 platform.
Works worse than competitor lovable and once making a bug report, it ignores the help and send you to developing country help desk. That wouldn't be a problem if it would actually do a proper job but they don't
I could already tell this site was a joke in the beginning. I asked it to build a replica dating site just like bumble and tinder and to make it fully functional with back office. The free credits were enough to create it. This site was absolute garbage, looked like a 4 year old built it......then they want you to buy credits to shape it. RUN from this scam......
The credit system sucks!!!! customer service doesn't do anything to get you a refund when their "AI" doesn't work properly or implement any changes that you have asked it to do. this by far is the WORSE app building platform know to man. They steal $$ from their customers and have NO desire to correct the issue, by far the worse waste of money EVER! I will just go back to my normal way to code, BASE 44 AI is complete TRASH and a rip off!
I don't think I've seen a worst AI builder in this era.
Burning through credits like crazy, app itself it's terrible with lots of bugs and the requests do not even match the output. A total mess of a software.
In absolute farce, their customers report is horrible. I have spent 2 and a 1 hours with their AI bot, which just sends you down one rabbit hole after another. You cannot speak to a person. There's such a bait and switch. It's a farce, but with a shed was a pretty high level plan. I was supposed to be able to have certain functionality, and now they want me to spend another hundred dollars a month to give me what I was supposed to get for their initial plan.I bought stay away.Stay away if you buy from him.You only have yourself to blame after reading this

The LLM truly does not understand the requests its given. the credit system is bullshit when you constantly have to ask it to fix the same problem multiple times with no result. Whoever made Base44 should truly be embarrassed. Way to spend your whole budget on a super bowl ad, dumbass!
Each time I have my personal challenge I think if I can resolve it with Base44. I built apps that helped me to optimize my daily routine. It is easy, do not require technical background. Highly recommend to try Base44 and explore
bought an app couldn't even change the text, kept crashing wouldn't maintain the changes asked for money back for a faulty product and am being told no refund. Avoid this what appears to be a scam company at all costs
