The worst bank online service I ever…
The worst bank online service I ever faced.
There is a bug in my BBVA bank app. It is not possible to open a chat with the bank (beside the app itself is a catastrophe, it seems like it was written by students who were kicked out of the university). I already wrote several emails and raised several tickets to fix the bug. Since 1 year no progress. Just bla-bla answers or completely ignored.
Fraudulent practices
I would rate with no start but unfortunately not possible. So first they lied when they told me, that I have to open an insurance with them in order to open a bank account with them, secondly I was told that the policy is for one year and if I don't extend, it will automatically expire, another lie, they extended and so I was kept in the policy against my consent to it, when I contacted them what is going on, they said to me that the previous guy wasn't accurate and that I must give them a month notice before the expiry date, then I was told, that it's no problem to cancel it and that I have to just contact their insurance part of the BBVA and they will cancel it for me. So I did that and they just simply told me that it's impossible now and I have to notify them again before the new expiry day so it can be cancelled. Don't know what should I think of this practice but if I may suggest, everyone should stay away from this bank.!!!!
Dubious security practices. Avoid.
The worst bank I ever had experience with.
Your account is protected by a password THAT IS ONLY 6 SYMBOLS. They are not allowing to have real passwords. And as a cherry on top IT'S NOT HASHED! AGENTS TO VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY MAY ASK ANY SYMBOL FROM YOUR PASSWORD (1ST, 2ND LAST etc).
One can only speculate about their other dubious security practices if they allow themselves to store passwords like that.
Also agents always have troubles when calling to them. Echoes, glitches. Or they speak incomprehensibly. Their web-interface is broken (for me, camera didn't worked).
Avoid.
Not customer friendly
I'm a foreigner to Europe and at first thought BBVA was a good company until I started having problems. First there is no English speaking staff nor can you get English help if you call customer service. If you don't speak Spanish then good luck. Also you can't apply for any credit card or loan online, everything is done from the office but good luck to find someone working when you need them. Plus, no one speaks English so going to the office for help is still a big fail. I like their online app but besides that BBVA is only a good company for local Spanish residents. Oh also if you get an account online you get different features than you would if you open an account from the office and there's no way to switch or connect accounts even though it's the same company. Smh
Very Poor Customer Service
This bank is very difficult to communicate with. The phone line for English speakers is not always available despite the 24/7 claim. Our local branch is pretty awful. Nobody speaks English and they barely acknowledge you. They keep sending me credit card promotions but all the details are not available online, so went to the bank for clarity and the woman just waved me away like she had no idea what I was talking about. Now they are sending me emails requesting the same documents I used to open the account--only updated with new income and date. Every time I upload them, I get an email telling me they need verification. The first rep I spoke with told me they want them notarized, which in Spain means a lot of money and trip to an official notary. They cannot notarize US government documents anyhow. I called again and now they say I have to be contacted by my 'personal advisor' who has to call back at their convenience. When she called I was in an appointment and asked if she could call back in half an hour--no--she said she wouldn't be there. She told me the documents needed to be translated to Spanish from English. I had them translated and uploaded them just as prepared by the translator--English first, then translated stamped pages. Not good enough--another email telling me to validate. Meanwhile, I made an appointment through their app at a branch in the next town, because nobody speaks English at mine. They confirmed my appointment in the app--and it is still there. It is there because after gathering all of our documents, we went to the appointment at the confirmed time and the bank was closed! The note on the door said closed to support a 'labor effort'. Went to another branch. Also closed. I called again and the rep told me that the 'computer' only sees the first page so assumes it is in English! This means that nobody actually looks at the document. Now I've uploaded only the Spanish, so I'll wait for another rejection by email. The are also asking for renewed residency card as ours expire soon. Although our residency has been renewed by the government, it is close to impossible to get an appointment to get the card and everyone in the country knows this, including banks. I said I would upload the government approvals--they said no. They said to send the appointment copy and of course we are still trying to make an appointment with absolutely nothing available. I'm prepared for the bank to block the account when the card expires if we still have been unable to get an appointment for the renewal card. I'm taking most of the money out and just leaving enough to keep the account. Luckily we have another bank that is not harassing us for documents to keep the accounts going that we cannot provide until the bureaucracy opens up more appointments. BBVA has basically been running us in circles and driving us crazy as we try to comply with everything they want. Meanwhile--why do they confirm appointments and then close the branch without any notification to those with confirmed appointments? Following my non-appointment due to the bank closure, I received an email survey asking me how the bank appointment went! This bank does not inspire confidence at all.
Wrong name and surname om the debit card.
I became a client of bbva 1 month ago. Firstly they say you can do everything online you just need to go and identify yourslef at any bbva branches. I did so, but then at the branch they tell you ah no, you need an appointment, so I had to go two times (it would be better if they wrote on the website "please call and make an appointment"). After this was sorted out, but then 10 days later I got my debit card and there was my name on it twice, instead of surname and name (my name and suranme are ksenija maricic, so on the card it was written ksenija ksenija). I go to bbva bank, thinking it is the safest to go directly to the bank and sort this out, there is a lady that does somenthimg in the computer quickly and tells me you will get the new card after 10 days. It's been 3 weeks -nothing.. after 2 weeks i call bbva and they tell me ok now you will get it after 10 days, it's been 4 weeks- nothing. Even worse, I actually then also received credit card with wrong name on it. What should I do, i went to the bank they didn't correct it, I called them, they didn't correct it. Where should I go next? I am very disatisfied as I really need the card, but really. I dont trust this bank anymore.
They told us over and over the house…
They told us over and over the house insurance was only for one Year. It got rebilled without retroactivity. Sadly we cannot proof their promise as it was communicated live and not by written proof such as a text or e-mail.
Always ask for written proof if you want an important answer to your questions about your contract. Sales person misinformed us.
If you call them and ask for an English…
If you call them and ask for an English speaker they will transfer the line abd it's always unavailable. Very poor customer service
Excellent current account
Excellent current account, the only Debit Card that gives 4% cashback on all purchases until 2025. There are no others with such a high percentage.
The current account also yields 4% per year, which is good.
By creating a new account and entering the following reference code: 77660060551481
you will be able to receive €10 credited to your account plus another €10 if you activate a direct debit.
Customer service absolutely useless
I asked a simple question via email. Where on earth I can pay a fee in cash in the city I live. (Since they are digitalzing everything, in all banks, there seems to be just no option to pay in cash anymore.) They responded that... I should go and ask at the offices! Two stars and not one because it's the only bank which at least had an email for inquiries on their page.
Disappointing bank and arrogant branch.
Puerto Banus Branch in Andalucia has agreed the appointment and then when we show up he says come back another day. Service is unresponsive and disappointing. There is no helpful kind service. There is a distinct arrogance in this branch and their approach to customers. All I requested was my loan certificates. There has also been many problems with BBVA card use. There's also a general lack of understanding of how they are supposed to file my tax returns and a poor online service that doesn't allow for a foreigner to register as a Spanish resident. Not good for an international bank. After 9 years I am now moving my account and mortgages to another Spanish bank with better terms and a real personal and friendly professional service.
Impossible to speak to a manager but good app.
Impossible to speak to a manager. BBVA has a better app than other banks.
Terrible interface and support
Terrible interface and support, it’s clear why neobanks are eating up market share
worst bank ever company
Worst bank ever. I opened my business account in October and since they blocked it for "suspicious activities". Giving me no explanation, no emails, nothing. They are not unblocking and waiting for them for weeks to happen something. I do not recommend this bank.
On top of that they mobile application security is the worst i have seen in my life. Customer support asking me for CCV numbers, pin code, and password as well in a phone conversation. Ridiculous
I was scammed by a nonexistent real…
I was scammed by a nonexistent real estate agency, and they have their accounts in this bank. They stole 2.400,00 € from me!!!

Debit card not delivered/ unhelpful customer service.
I called BBVA to block my card due to an unauthorized payment that was taken from my account on 20 Nov 2023. Via the same call, I requested a new card be delivered to my address, Today is 29/01/2024 I still do not have a card but the bank was very swift in charging me for an undelivered card. I had Insisted to the lady I spoke with on phone while I was trying to get a new card that I prefer to pick the card up from my BBVA branch but she Insisted on me providing an address. I took my time to spell out the address for her but I don't know where she got the delivery address she used.
I had also made several attempt to speak to someone on phone in English (I don't speak good Spanish) but the line get dropped every time. I requested a call back someone called me back 2 weeks after this and wasn't helpful. I went to the BBVA branch I opened my account maybe the card was delivered there but all to no avail. This is really frustrating to say the least. I'm just wondering why you have a customer service if this low hanging issue cannot be resolved since Nov 2023.
Excellent service
Excellent service. A bank that just works well without undue timely paper processes. Seems like pretty much any issue can be addressed remotely (which we love). The app is super functional.
Avoid this bank if you want peace of mind
I moved to Spain in June with an NLV/Retirement visa and was looking for a bank to have my utilities paid, and conduct daily living transactions while here. I unfortunately chose BBVA, even after hearing about people having their accounts blocked etc. I figured i was not doing anything nefarious, and didnt have millions that i couldnt account for so i had nothing to worry about...boy was i wrong! I followed every automated request from the app, uploading what i could or thought matched their request (compared to what was officially available from my own country.) For months i did everything to get ahead of my account being blocked (with 200 euros in it because i didnt want to be stranded in a foreign country and have no access to my money!) Alas i failed, even after paying 350 euros to have a lease agreement for my house back home translated, certified and uploaded. The requests for "payroll" kept coming, even though my TIE stated boldly that i was not allowed to work. Regular calls to their English speaking helpline were mostly useless and speaking to an in branch representative was apparently out of the question. The account was blocked for 3 weeks in early December. I called the helpline again (I think i have spoken to everyone in that department!), eventually the account was unblocked and those dreaded, anxiety causing alerts stopped. I had the best sleep since i arrived in Spain that night! Then 24 hours later, the alerts came again. Another call and this time new documents were being requested. Deeds, tax returns (from my home country), lease agreement ALL OF WHICH had previously been uploaded ad nauseum! So now I sit and wait again for the next threat of being blocked out of my account again, with the boilerplate explanation about money laundering etc. If I could give them zero stars I would. In the meantime I will be looking for a bank that wants to work with me rather than against me. Because at the end of the day I just need a peaceful night's rest!
NADIE
The worst manager of BBVA Benalmadena Costa. This person is in no way doing her job towards her clients. She ignores all urgent calls, ignores her previous appointments and causes great difficulties for a client like me. For this reason, and thanks to her, I am going to change banks as soon as possible, as soon as I am cured. I am stranded in France due to an injury to my left foot that requires a lot of medical care and hospital care too. Being locked out of my account access, I am unable to pay my bills and taxes with great difficulty. Despite numerous reminders from Madrid and me, this person does not respond to us. I conclude that I am part of a ghost bank and nothing more. What a shame!
I do not recommend this bank to anyone. NOBODY
Awful.
Awful.
I get a message out of the blue telling that they spotted some ('non existent') suspicious online payments.
They block ant online payment.
No way to restore it.
Not from the app not with the customer service: I requested to be called and, guess what? None called
