Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 66 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the cancellation process, finding it intentionally difficult and requiring a phone call rather than an online option. Customers also reported issues with subscription sign-ups after initial offers, resulting in unexpected charges. The products, particularly the wine and beer, were frequently described as poor quality and overpriced. Reviewers also highlighted issues with customer contact, noting long wait times on the phone and a lack of responsiveness to emails. Some people mentioned being pressured to stay when attempting to cancel, and a few even reported continued charges and unwanted contact after cancellation.

Rude staff

Rude staff, they do not accept your subscription cancellation ànd take another £38 for three bottles of cheap screw top red wine ànd even tho they haven’t even processed or dispatch the order (even though you have cancelled your subscription) they will not cancel the dispatch ànd told me not to bother returning as they don’t accept returns either. Do not order your better off going à supermarket than paying £12 à bottle for 12% screw top red wine

Would give less than 1 star of I could

Would give less than 1 star of I could. False advertising of getting beers from breweries. They use a dog shit contract brewery that somehow doesn't understand how beer works.
I got a free box and I STILL want my money back.

I got subscription as a "free gift"…

I got subscription as a "free gift" when I bought some cookware online. Received first box of wine which I felt was inferior quality (All 12% bottles) The second box was the same - only two tasted OK...I went to cancel online via my account and then discovered you have to phone them to cancel - I didn't have to phone them to join!..to me that is terrible practice and I would not want to have any dealings with a company that operates that way.

Vile wine

Vile wine, majority goes straight down the sink. Cancelling is difficult as you have to call.
They refused to give me a refund even though the wine hadn't left. I offered to sent it back, they still wont refund.

Reply from Wine

Hi There. Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you may not have enjoyed some of the wine. The nature of our wines is that from time to time you may receive some that are not ones you might usually drink, and while our wine experts always try their best to choose what they think our customers will enjoy, they can't always meet everyone's specific tastes. I can assure you that our wines are selected for their high quality. We work with and support our smaller vineyards, rather than larger productions. Our products are of the highest quality and we offer many products that aren't always available elsewhere.

If you did want to contact us but were unable to phone our customer service at 0131 285 2684 for whatever reason, you could also contact us via Facebook Messenger or Twitter DM as well as dropping us an email through our support desk via this link https://www.beer52.com/helpCentre/home. Our help centre link is at the bottom of our website and emails to our customers.

We require 3 working days' notice before any billing to cancel or change an order, if this was not given then at that stage we cannot offer a refund as the order has already been processed to our warehouse,

Due to the nature of our product, all cases are non-refundable unless defective in which case we would send a replacement or a refund. In accordance with our Returns Policy, which you have agreed to upon subscribing to our service, Beer52 does not accept returns unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Thanks Wine52

Beer52

Beer52 – the most disgusting “beer” I’ve ever had the misfortune to taste. Seriously, it tastes like actual piss. Watery, chemical, sour urine-like aftertaste that made me spit it out immediately. I’ve had better beer from a petrol station for £1.
They hide behind “you must call us to cancel” even though half the boxes were undrinkable. Classic scam tactic to stop people cancelling. Customer service is non-existent unless you waste 30 minutes on the phone.
I demanded a full refund and they still tried to argue. Ended up doing a chargeback because this company should not be allowed to sell this rubbish.
Avoid Beer52 at all costs. Absolute fraud disguised as craft beer. I feel physically sick that I paid money for this.
If you already fell for it – cancel your card recurring payment immediately and open a chargeback. Do not let them keep your money for literal piss-water.

Awful company

Awful company. Cancelled my order after 3 bottles of disgusting wine, they still charged me anyway. Now customer service won’t answer my e mails and the people on the phone line say they can’t refund me over the phone. Never buy from this company!!!

If it seems too good to be true......

My experience is identical to many others here.
Booked tickets on Trainline.
Received free wine gift offer 'pay postage only'.
Accepted offer - BEWARE at this point - you WILL be enrolled in a subscription which IS NOT clearly communicated to you despite the company claiming it is clear at every stage of the transaction - surely not everyone with a similar experience can be so blind to something so obviously stated by the company - NOT!

Received the wine after paying postage £7.95 - it was actually quite good in fairness.

Fast forward a month and I notice a pending payment of £36 to Beer 52 coming from my credit card.

Contacted them on the phone and in fairness the guy cancelled the subscription but I have not received a confirmation email despite the guy saying they would send one. I checked my online account and it does say the subscription (that I didn't knowingly agree to) would be cancelled before the next payment is due.

Unfortunately business practices like this don't inspire confidence in me and I have contacted my bank and they have blocked any further transactions from this company.

It's actually a shame that the company - which is obviously a legitimate business - uses practices which could arguably be described as deceitful. All the negative reviews can't be helpful for their reputation

Dishonest and Shady Business Practices – Avoid This Company

I’ve been trying to cancel my Beer52 and Wine52 subscriptions for two days with no success. Both phone numbers listed on your website disconnect immediately, and your online contact form just redirects back to the same number.

I’ve sent multiple emails and messages but still haven’t received a single reply. It’s incredibly frustrating that a company can make signing up so easy, yet make cancelling this difficult.

Originally, I planned to keep my Beer52 subscription and only cancel the Wine52 one, but after this experience, I cannot support a company that operates with such dishonest and shady business practices.

Please provide a working telephone line and someone who can actually assist customers wishing to cancel their subscriptions.

Avoid this company.

Signed up for a trial wine box. Clearly states pay only postage for trial box. Once trial box has been received you will be on our standard subscription, cancel at any time.

Got my trial box, decided to cancel. Had to call to cancel and was told, you can cancel till you pay for your £36 2nd box.

Either the customer service advisor was lying or it's false advertising. I checked the full terms and conditions and nowhere does it state you must pay for one full box before cancellation.

Have sent a full email. Explaining this. Currently waiting on a reply.

Avoid this company like the plague.

Would avoid this company completely

Would avoid this company completely. They lure you in with cheap offers, but the downside is you cannot manually cancel via their website.

They force you to ring up and cancel where they peer pressure you into staying, despite me cancelling, they then didn't cancel my subscription as requested and I got recharged for another month.
Your contact details stay on their system, which they will contact or share to further harass and get you to resignup.
It is not a scam company, but a very dishonest, shady and immoral one. Would avoid.

£10 per litre for weak and weird beer !.

£10 per litre for weak beer !.
My story is similar to many here, thought I had just bought a single trial case of beer. Then, a month later I find that £27 has been taken from my Pay Pal. Called to say that I did not wish to subscribe but told that it was too late and I should have read the small print. My CASE arrived but it contains only 8x330ml cans, several at 3per cent and most at just 4.0. This equates to in excess of a whopping ten pounds per litre! .
Cancelling on line is frustrating and impossible, you go through the entire process, just to be told, at the end, that you need to call them to cancel.
You call and are forced to listen to a very long and monotonous propaganda about the wonderful BEER 52.
Operators are pleasant but obviously used to dealing with "pissed off" customers and have developed very thick skin.
All in all: very expensive, they also appear to be roff loading many weird beers that taste awful and presumably didn't sell elsewhere.
Really disappointing Company.

Subscription trap - AVOID

This company is shocking from start to finish. The wine itself isn’t that good, and when you opt for their so-called “free trial” of 4 wines, it automatically switches your subscription to that package - without making this clear upfront.

When I tried to cancel, the experience was appalling. After pressing “I still want to cancel” I thought I had cancelled and was not given a straightforward option online. Instead, I had to scroll down to discover they require customers to phone them to cancel which led to me after having confirmed intent, not actually as I had thought cancelling!

When I raised this, they hid behind their Terms & Conditions and refused to refund me, under the premise their T&Cs are above the law. But under UK consumer law, this is illegal:
• The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 both state that cancellation must be as easy as sign-up.
• If you can subscribe online, you must be able to cancel online. Forcing people to phone is an unlawful barrier.

This isn’t just my experience - many other reviews here describe the exact same “subscription trap.” That shows it’s a deliberate, systemic practice.

If this happens to you:
• Report it to Citizens Advice, who pass cases to Trading Standards.
• Submit a complaint to the CMA.
• Ask your bank for a chargeback since the renewal wasn’t obtained fairly.

Avoid this company. Misleading subscription processes, unlawful cancellation barriers, poor wine, and dreadful customer service.
