Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 66 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the cancellation process, finding it intentionally difficult and requiring a phone call rather than an online option. I've just been ripped off buy the…

I've just been ripped off buy the sister company Wine 52. They took £36 from my credit card relating to a wine subscription that they auto enrolled me for after I took advantage of a 3 bottle for the cost of postage offer. I get the courier to return the goods to Wine 52 but they have refused to refund me my money. I will be taking this matter as far as I can, not because of the money, but because these type of companies need to be exposed!

Such a pain trying to cancel

Such a pain trying to cancel! They phone you back between the hours of 9-5 when most people at work.

I asked for the box to be returned and refunded got told they have no returns policy…. You just have to keep it.

Finally find out they do have returns policy and can return for a refund within 21 days.

Such a stress cancelling not worth the hassle until they set it up to cancel online, even when they say you can email them to cancel all the email does is get someone to phone you so end up in the same boat!

Absolutely Useless company

Absolutely Useless company. Very manipulative. You can’t cancel your subscription without pressing cancel seven times to then only be given a phone number to call and you can only call between nine and five. What a pointless online business and then when you call customer services they don’t give you any kind of service. I tried to refuse a delivery that I did didn’t want Want it and they sent it back to me again. And then charged for it absolutely pointless. Avoid at all.

I had an awful experience with Beer52

I had an awful experience with Beer52. They charged me for a subscription I never knowingly signed up for, without even notifying me beforehand, which is a direct violation of UK consumer law. Despite requesting cancellation on the same day as the charge and refusing to accept the delivery, they still delivered the box to my concierge and refused to process my refund. Their lack of transparency, disregard for proper alcohol delivery rules (no signature, no verification), and refusal to adhere to basic consumer rights make this the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Avoid at all costs.

My 92 year old mother got caught up in…

My 92 year old mother got caught up in this. She didn't realise it was a subscription. On their website you can do all sorts of things. Weirdly when you go to cancel you have to phone and sit in a queue! When I got though they wanted reasons for cancelation. In a normal process, like an online link, that is fair enough. However in this case it was obvious they were looking to do some selling. So I just cut the lady off and said I don't have to give a reason. When are they go legislate against this. Also, didn't really like the beers much!

Avoid, avoid, avoid

Yes, I got caught out by this dreadful company in exactly the same way as so many others. I signed up to an 'introductory offer', wasn't aware I'd been signed up to an subsciption, and when I went to cancel the subscription online, and no matter which way I tried to do it, I had to call in to cancel. Also, both of the online 'cancel' and 'pause subscription' options had been suspended for 24-hours so I couldn't select these options to prevent payment being taken and the next order being delivered. When I called to cancel, I was led to believe I was cancelling January's subscription, and I was talked into taking the second part of the "2 part introductory offer in March" which I accepted, and then I could cancel. However when I checked the account later, I discovered the January subscription hadn't been cancelled, and a full price box at £36 was being sent then next day - as well as the 2nd part of the introductory offer in March. I called back, but it was a complete waste of time but it was a complete waste of time as there was absolutely no way Beer/Wine 52 were going to do anything about it. Told me to email in, but all of the emails have been ignored. Very misleading, underhanded, hard sell tactics being used by this company which are completely unacceptable in this day and age. No decent company needs THREE DAYS notice to cancel before a payment is taken, when none of this is made clear to you in the first place. Shame on Beer/Wine 52 - you deserve all the appalling reviews you're getting, and ultimately your company will suffer the consequences of this. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Fraudulent Practices – Beware of This Company!

I am appalled by the deceitful and unethical practices of this company. I purchased a single product using a discount coupon, only to find out later that I had been signed up for a subscription without my consent!

This is not only fraudulent but an obvious attempt to trick unsuspecting customers. To make matters worse, canceling the subscription is deliberately made difficult, requiring you to call their customer service—where you can’t even retain proof of your cancellation request.

Their entire process is designed to exploit customers:

Unauthorized subscriptions.
A convoluted cancellation system that wastes your time.
Complete disregard for transparency and consumer rights.
I was charged for additional products I never agreed to purchase, and now I am fighting to get my money back. I have saved all communications and will be filing a formal complaint with consumer protection authorities.

If you’re considering buying from this company, don’t! They rely on trickery to lock you into subscriptions and make it nearly impossible to cancel. Avoid this scam at all costs.

I strongly urge anyone who has had similar experiences to report this behavior and demand better business practices.

Scam

Scam, which is a shame as it should be a good service product but they will keep taking your money even after you think you have cancelled. It’s very difficult to cancel!

I’m having to take it up with my bank.

Missing manners - return if found.

Missing: Manners of call centre staff

Please return if found.

Have to actually call the customer service team who will give you a sales pitch if you try to cancel, even when you tell them you don't want to hear them.

Shame on anybody promoting them too.

Utter disgraceful service

Utter disgraceful service! Got offered a free product but paid delivery fee. Did not sign up to anything. 1 month later they start debiting my card. Website is a joke and cannot delete or cancel your account. You then need to spend hours trying to get through on the phone.

Reported to my bank for fraud! Do not sign up for any free deals. This is a scam!

Poor Products and Poorer Customer Service

The products are, at best, mediocre with some just not worth bothering with. When trying to cancel my subscription, the wait was intolerable evidencing the number of people trying to cancel! When I finally got through it was very difficult to understand the operative as it was clearly a foreign call centre. The noise in the call centre made it difficult to hear the operative.

Scammers

Was offered a free case of 8 beers through another company and all I had to pay was delivery. £6+ . Not a bad deal I thought. Only to find out Beer52 had created an account for me. Only found out when they emailed me saying beer on way. Contacted them for refund, no refund as per T&C which I never saw or signed. Blocked them at my bank. Hopefully Beer52 have cancelled my so called account. They are nothing short of Scammers.
