Great beer and really fantastic customer service. Jed went above and beyond to sort my issue.
The website is super easy to navigate and contacting the company via email or a phone call (if you're able) is clear and well set uup.it a rare thing to get quality products and great service in the same place.

Awful customer service

Awful customer service, awful employees who don't help at all and just read from a script. Requested a call back from a manager which was "cancelled." Impossible to cancel once signed up (and they get you good!)
Would recommend not dealing with this customer at all.

Never going to give you up!

As other reviews the beer selection was "interesting" however the fun comes when looking to cancel.
I finally managed and cancled 3/4 months ago.
Just recived a phone call to offer me "Congratulations, you have been selected for a special offer".
I have made a formal request under GDPR to remove my data. It will be interesting to see if I recive any further contact.

Hopefully you read before you click!

As with all the other reviews, this is a hidden subscription at the end of a Morrisons checkout! The fact that I am normally very savvy on spotting these types of hidden subscription, demonstrates that it is designed to catch people and not have retuning customers!

Didn't order

Didn't order, opted out of marketing but still got text marketing.

Deleted message as assumed was spam. They're saying I ordered via text and won't consider refund.

Not impressed.

This is total scam

This is total scam. I was presented a discount code to make a purchase just paying the postage. As far as I knew this was a one time transaction. But these people have a condition that I never ticked to accept, that they make you a member and take your money without any consent to send future merchandise. I never knew that I was a member till your money was taken again. Very disappointed.

Scammers

Scammers, free box turns into a VERY difficult to cancel subscription. I NEVER signed up for a subscription. No emails nothing, just your parcels of dreadful beer is turning up and we've taken money from you. The beer is like thick sweet chocolate.

Blatant GDPR violations

Blatant GDPR violations.

Charged me and tried to send me something because they received a reply to a marketing SMS. The phone number they had on file was very old. They refused to do anything about it.

Not a scam, but...

It's not a scam but they have some shady business practices. I don't know why they don't make it more transparent and easier to cancel, the goodwill they'd generate would surely take them a long way? Perhaps annoying people works as part of your business model, I don't know. The beer was fine and I don't think the price is that bad considering how much craft beer costs in shops these days. Can't see this being a sustainable business, particularly with the clearly terrible customer experience.

If I could zero I would CROOKED

If I could zero I would. Wish I had read the reviews here earlier

Ditto previous reviews. Predatory marketing tactics sums this company up. Complete scam and disingenuous. Offer at outset - free case of beer if pay postage, and I paid for this at reduced price as gift for husband thinking if he liked he /we may purchase more. Thought no more of it. Didn’t receive any emails or contact from Beer52. Suddenly Over month later I
am notified by yodel that I have a delivery on the way and I have had £27 taken from my bank account, Had no apparent visible mention of this anywhere in signup process or even an email before the next box is sent out. The company say I had an email, which I didn’t, and say it was in the offer small print. It is Impossible to get sense out of this company. The customer service team and rude a condescending, and the more senior members don’t care and trot off the same spiel about how the terms are in the initial email (which I and others never received). I wonder how many people they are scamming a day? I will be taking this further as this is unfair practice. The company states it was sorry if I missed their emails. THERE WERE NO EMAILS. Perhaps part of the plan to cream money from people? Worst immoral way to behave and dreadful customer service. You also can’t easily unsubscribe once you do spot they’ve signed you up!! Avoid!

Great beers and wine

I signed up to the subscription for the beer and wine, as it was on offer. Very good beer and wine, but couldn’t justify the full price and ongoing subscription. I would, however have them again in the future. You are signed up to an ongoing subscription but you can skip a month, and I found cancelling easy. I emailed them and they sent a text confirming if I did want to cancel or take up an offer. I confirmed I wanted to cancel and they did it straight away.

Avoid - scam to get you onto a subscription which is VERY hard to cancel

You'll receive a tempting offer for a free crate of beer or wine with £6 postage but you're unknowingly signing up for an expensive monthly subscription. The quality of the beer/wine is so-so but you're paying at least double what you would from any other store. The snacks are worth 50p at best and are the kind of thing the airlines throw at you mid-flight. You'll search in vain for the menu on the website to cancel only to find a note right at the bottom of the page asking you to call them, but only Mon-Fri 9-5pm when you're at work. You'll spend 20 minutes on hold and then spend a further 20 minutes receiving a hard-sell to prevent you from cancelling. I rarely bother to review things but this company actually made me angry.

Lied about unsubscribing

I ordered a "free" case of 10 beers where you only pay 5 pounds postage through a discount code offered by a sponsored youtuber, intending to simply take the good deal and then unsubscribe after my cheap case of beer but as many many other people have detailed, their unsubscribing procedure is abysmal, and to make matters worse they clearly lie.

First of all they have a mandatory waiting period of 24 hours after signing up before they even allow you to click "Cancel my subscription" even though there is absolutely no reason for this to be in place other than as an attempt to make you forget about cancelling. Secondly, once you CAN click this button, you are given page after page of extremely shady links to other deals and websites, the kind of ones that are like "complete 10 surveys for a free 10 pound tesco gift card!" or to their other sister services such as wine52 etc. Third, after you navigate this absolute minefield of ads and guilt-tripping messages, the "cancel" button is hidden in an unassuming small font compared to everything else at the very bottom of the page sandwiched between yet more deals, and clicking on it just directs you to a page saying you may only cancel via a phone call between the hours of 9-5 and cancellation is not possible online.

All of this is shady enough, and the line itself is a nightmare and the operator on the other end will push as many ads and attempts to change your mind on you as possible - BUT, somehow it gets worse. Right here on Trustpilot they are replying to everyone who mentions their nightmarish phone cancellation method by saying "We have streamlined the process and you can now cancel via twitter DM, facebook messenger or our help desk" BUT THIS IS A LIE.

Going to the helpdesk and selecting the Topics "My subscription > I want to cancel" brings up a pop-up that simply tells you to call them to cancel, this pop-up locks you out of the help desk entirely, so they are outright lying not just on their site but on here too as there is no way to cancel through the helpdesk as they claim, it just leads back to the phone cancellation.

As if all this wasnt enough, even for people who DONT want to cancel their subscription, there are shady practices and blatant false advertising on their website - such as offering a button asking "Do you want 2 free beers next month?" and when you click this it charges you extra and the beers are absolutely not free as advertised, the button should be "Would you like to pay extra for more beers?".

I highly recommend avoiding this company, and if you have the displeasure of dealing with them without beforehand knowing the way they treat their customers, be ready to have to contact your bank in order to resolve issues with beer52, and please make complaints to governing bodies and consumer protection services such as the ASA/CMA/Citizens Advice regarding their false advertising, blatant lying and breaches of consumer law so that they are held accountable, it's the only way anything will change.

As a side note, they also have 2 different claimed and verified pages for their business under the same names: One as Beer52 and the other as beer52.com. This is to attempt to hide the sheer number of negative reviews left by people with the same experience, and I highly suspect the positive reviews on the newer listing to be in bad faith as they all claim easy cancellation as a keyword, which is demonstrably not true.

The most horrendous online scam I have…

The most horrendous online scam I have ever fallen for. Signed up to try the free box and paid just under 10£ for shipping.

The beers that are sent are of a horrendous quality. Really terrible flavours are added to accommodate people who really don’t understand or value anything on a traditional beer taste.

On top of this unsubscribing is nearly impossible. I unsubscribed immediately after trying the first beer. The website takes you through 6 pages where you consistently have to refuse to continue the subscription.

I thought it was done there, but NO. Today I got a notification that my next delivery has been shipped out. Turns out after all the cancellation pages there is a small section at the bottom that says you need to call the company to cancel. I have reported the company as fraud and will be sure to inform my community that this company is horrible and one to avoid.

Sad that your sales strategy is to harass and force people into your subscription.
