Consistently awesome support

Consistently awesome support. Amount of times this company has helped me is ridiculous, always super knowledgeable and nothing too much trouble.

Brilliant company, what is so surprising too, is their pricing is at the cheaper end. Brilliant.

Why?

I've written two reviews on this company. The first was 1 star and the second 4 stars which was back in February and I remarked perhaps in a years time we'd be at 5 stars. Unfortunately we didn't get to February 2020 as today I've come into an email advising our service is being withdrawn in seven days following an audit and I'd best find a new hoster quickly. I've asked for an explanation but am still waiting and frankly I'm just so disappointed as I would probably have gone on in February and given them 5 stars. This simply doesn't make any sense unless they are closing down or cant be bothered with the wee guy anymore.

Never experienced customer support like this!

The team at Smart Hosting are so incredibly helpful. They are always incredibly quick at responding to any queries and super supportive so you know you're in safe hands. Even for someone with limited knowledge, they make the process of hosting a website easy! I would recommend wholeheartedly to everyone.

Shady business practice / hiking prices & squeezing customers

Shady business practice. Were more than helpful and encouraging to get me to move over from Hostgator (whom I'd been with for 11 years).
Initially very good and at the agreed & advertised price.
Then out of the blue more than treble the price with a drop in service level & no clear explanation or guaranteed time on supposed improvements to justify the more than 3X price increase.
And to add insult to injury, this past week they emailed me to say that I needed to up my plan - when I have fewer websites than I have ever had, fewer than when they encouraged me to move over & use less bandwidth then I ever have.
We do training & have recommended Smarthosts to 100's of students & we have had multiple complaints from people who've followed our advice & now found themselves footing expensive monthly hosting payments (with the >3x increases).
Not honest or ethical business practice. Locking customers in then squeezing them & forcing them to pay more.

On a positive - their online chat support is always very good & I appreciate it's not their fault. It's the management & decision makers.

Very dissapointed & frustrated with these people.

A few years ago I started hosting a few…

A few years ago I started hosting a few sites with Smart Hosting and was so pleased with consistently excellent service I moved a bunch of other sites over from a couple of other hosts. Since then I've started reselling hosting through them due to their reliability. Speed, support and the configurability of shared hosting space has always been pretty decent.

trebling my renewal invoice

Been with this company for a few years now, I came to them originally when they had the best support in the business however I believe the business have new owners and they have slipped back and are now more interested in ripping off their loyal customers

today I have received the renewal for my basic hosting which they have simply renamed premium hosting although it is exactly the same as my previous package and they now want treble the cost for that exact the same package

this is really bad service and taking the micky out of their loyal customers

There are plenty of other hosting companies out there so anyone thinking of using this company beware as they are only interested in making money

I note that looking at other reviews that smarthosting (or should it be 'notverysmarthosting' after this move) have even stopped replying to reviews, they didn't miss replying to any reviews before they started ripping customers off

I also remembered when I joined the company before they were taken over they had a 100% good reviews and were top of their category for hosting however that seems to have slipped now some what that they are more interested in the buck than the customer

Can't be trusted - Stay well clear

Please read the negative views below and stay clear of this company. They will look after you at the start.

Following the shocking service that customers experienced 2.5 years ago our loyalty has been rewarded with (in my case) a 192% increase in renewal charges.
I expected an increase this year, the service is worth paying a bit extra. But to go from £27.39 to £79.99 is ridiculous!

There is no point in contacting them direct as is suggested in their response to other reviewers, as it is obvious by the reply that I received to my email that the intention is to get rid of the customers that remained loyal through thick and thin.

Customers with websites down that they ignored for days on end! Customers who they promised great things to, if they stayed with them.

They say "we really do care and value our customers" in one breath, whilst adopting an 'If you don't like it then leave us' attitude throughout most of the negative posts.

Price is not my core concern, but as I can get better value, the same quality and reliability with more resources, then you will fully understand my reasons for moving to a cheaper provider.
YES... I am moving to a provider who is giving me overall better service for less and they have a 5 star rating on Trust Pilot with NO negative reviews.

So, shop around folks, you WILL find better for LESS!.

I always responded in a positive way to requests by the Manager in the past and always followed his advice and guidance on ways to ensure both security of the server and to ensure that I do not tax resources.
For them to penalise people like myself for the situation that they are in stinks!

They have never offered true unlimited to people like myself and I never expected that they could.
To put limits on accounts has to be the way forward and they have never charged enough for the standard of service, so a price increase was inevitable.
But an increase of 192% for the handful of sites that I have!
What a way to repay loyal customers. Slap them with 3 fold Increases!

I have 5 Sites - out of unlimited. 7 Databases - out of unlimited and
use less than 2Gb of Disk Space out of unlimited. Unlimited which they offered me!
Is this the statistics of an abuser?

Don't forget.... 2.5 years ago they where ignoring support ticket for days on end.
Now that they answer 3 x as fast, the want 3 x the money!

I have been with this hosting company…

I have been with this hosting company now for 2 years.
I have deliberately held off reviewing them despite being asked a lot at the start as I wanted to see what they were really like over time with responses etc.
I am useless with IT but every time I have asked for their advice they have been able to help me understand & move forward
They gave me a free SSL where my last host said that SSLs are not free, you need to pay
There was an email autoresponder issue which they sorted within a day & my last enquiry high priority was responded to with the relevant answer within minutes

Amazing customer services

Amazing customer services. Jack B was excellent with his tech support and knew exactly what he was talking about. A true expert. He had a lot of patience and was very polite, delivering clear instructions to solve my issues.

Don’t bother.

Moved to smart hosting, part of Krystal hosting around a year ago. Since moving, their pricing has well over doubled. They have introduced a “security feature” which disables clients accounts, and have also blocked customer from accessing their emails using their phones. Support very limited. Wish we’d never moved.

Even Brutus was not this cruel

I used to be a massive fan. I stick with them when they went really bad and had a huge amount of problems. They even cost me clients, however I worked with them and we resolved the issues and I remained a loyal customer.

And how do they reward this loyalty? How do they say thank you for staying with them despite when things went wrong?

They increased my fees by 243% More than double!
You may think that OK, maybe we are getting more? more performance? more reliability?

Oh that is a negative. they have reduced all the services and performance has gone down with servers not able to cope with website that they used to be able to cope with (probably over loaded them).

Loyalty to Smart and also Crystal hosting is not longer an asset for them.

I am extremely disappointed. They have broken my trust.

Bunch of..........

What can i say about these bunch.
I have been a customer for 3 years with these guys and up untill few months ago service was ok but over the last couple of months. They keep blocking me from accessing my website and my emails. As a result i keep missing bookings and important emails.
Now i understand that i am just a small time customer but i am still a paying customer and despite assurances that they have sorted things out, i missed few important emails and 2 bookings today just because they keep blocking me without notification.
What a joke
