Been using Smarthosting for a total of 4 years. I've never experienced any issues in terms of downtime & speed. Their support team has always been very friendly and polite with any questions I have, and normally complete the ticket within a few hours! They always explain in detail what they've done and never afraid to go that extra mile.
I've recommended these guys to anyone who's asked for a top-quality hosting provider, and they too have been very impressed with the service given.
I think their pricing plans are very reasonable and still dirt cheap for the features you get. They even helped me transfer from a small unlimited single cPanel account to a reseller account and did all the hard work for me. Not sure why there’s so many complaints about prices, they’re still extremely cheap and the support you get is top quality.

Repeated problems
Repeated problems, downtime, slow services and poor customer service since this company was bought out.
The prices have gone up and the quality down. Shame, they used to be very good.

How to lose all of your loyal customers
I have been a customer since early 2016 due to their unlimited reseller package. Everything was good and I was happy with the price and the service until they sold out to Krystal Hosting during 2017. Not long after the takeover we experienced issues with the service and found that tickets were not answered for a week causing us an awful lot of headache! However they did resolve this and ticket response times improved so we continued with the service under Krystal's stewardship.
We received an email in February 2019 informing us that they were removing the unlimited part of our unlimited plan and that our monthly bill would double for the privilege of losing unlimited hosting.
They now charge based on the number of accounts and storage in your plan. From researching other hosting companies this makes them uncompetitive in this sector now as there are much better deals out there. We have moved all of our sites to another host and have closed our account. It's a shame to be forced out after being a loyal customer for over 3 years but I refuse to pay more for fewer features.
Disappointed with the price increase
I have been with bestwebhosting.co.uk from 2016. I bought a lot of additional hosting services like Windows VPS, reseller hosting.
I was with them even when simple tickets took days to answer causing me to loose a lot of customers.
Now, there has been an increase in the hosting price by 8x, which is very surprising.
Very disappointed.

Response time very good (client support & actual server).
I have seen a few negative reports about costs but I would say highly competitive especially when the whole package is considered - one can actually talk with them and they are SMART.

Simply The Best
Moved over to these guys from HeartInternet a few years ago. I was previously paying a lot more per month for a reseller service that offered clunky control panels and was a hassle to get to work with anything. I was a bit suspect of Smart Hosting at first, the url just seems a little gimmick to me but I took a shot in the dark and moved over to them, and I'd suggest you do the same.
The service is fast and reliable, they're incredibly informative of any changes and are always upgrading their systems while keeping customers in the know. On top this and the icing on the cake is their support, Jesus its fast, and the guys actually know what they're talking about, both of these points are a breath of fresh air, I can't say enough good things about them.
So to everyone considering Smart Hosting I say just do it! And to everyone at Smart Hosting, thank you all very, very much for all the help you've given me and the great services I've received, Bravo!

Smart Hosting has the best customer support
Smart Hosting has the best customer service ever. They have an instant chat service, which truly is instant, where you talk to a real person, and guess what? Their support team is in the UK (I don't have to state the problems, and challenges dealing with support staff who are not based here, there's hundreds of complaints about big companies outsourcing their customer service reps to India and the Phillippines).
Their support staff have helped me so many times rectify silly mistakes that were my fault, the very same day. Anything else that needed more time, was still sorted. Since being with them, I have no complaints whatsoever. Truly I hope and pray as they grow and expand they are able to keep that level of customer of service, which will be a challenge as they get larger.
Every support agent that has responded to my support tickets has been exceptional. Today Aaron T restored my site in less than 3 minutes, as I couldn't figure out the backup options inside my cpanel, but he took care of it, and VOILA!!! My site was up and running again.
Wait for a sudden price increase and the trap …
I have been with this hosting company for a few years. I paid a yearly invoice upfront. They then increased the price several times and they do not respect the invoice they have issued and I have paid.
If I was going to stay, I had to pay more. I canceled my account and they did not refund rest of the year that I have paid upfront.
This is not acceptable. Any price increase must respect prices and invoices that have been raised before.
This is basic customer service.
Good Service, But cannot be trusted
Some backing up SH about "pay based on service". Yes i know that.
The service is good, in fact i can give 5 Star. But change pricing and policies constantly. It show that this company cannot be trusted.
Other company treat their earlier customer with "grandfathered" account. But this company show no mercy.
Because it their server, so they can do anything. Bad move. Anything from Krystal, i will not buy anymore. Because they will change price and policies regularly for their benefit.

Price hike for less service
As many have said here. Used to be a good company, but then sent a letter informing their customers of a price increase. Not only that, but they were going to reduce the level of service for the price point you had originally signed up to. As a business plan/model this is pretty stupid, and many will vote with their wallets. Never had an issues with them up to this point, but that email was a quick way to lose customers. Will move to a new provider now.
