A really high quality conversion in an idyllic peaceful location is a good start. Add to that the warmth of the welcome from the friendliest hosts, along with fresh flowers a sponge cake and milk in the fridge is most welcome after a journey from South Derbyshire. It is a beautifully decorated and very well appointed home from home set in a genuine farm with its own private garden. Peace and beauty is everywhere, we’ll be back!

We had our previous holiday cottage cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Managing to find another one through Sykes Cottages, very quickly, booking on line was very easy. I had an email confirmation straight away, so was really pleased. I had to make a quick call with a query, again very quick & efficient with the answers. A day later I had a further email with all the property instructions etc. Very efficient!
I would recommend Sykes Big Cottages.
I was surprised with this apartment for my 30th birthday weekend away with my partner. I had never been to Pitlochry before and to say the place is beautiful is an understatement. This property is in the perfect location , just off the high street if you like. It’s spotless , has everything you need & the bubbles on arrival were a nice touch. Couldn’t recommend this apartment enough for a lovely get away.
I stayed here with my cousins and their partners, the house is just fantastic and ticked every box we wanted it to. Great location close to motorway and the Lakes. House was nice and warm and the rooms were all well laid out. Massive dining room table and plenty of seating in the two lounges. We spent a lot of time around the dining room table in the games room playing pool. Lots of tvs everywhere where but we didn’t use them. All the rooms are en-suite, lovely comfortable beds and bedding. Nice big outside table and garden to enjoy however due to the cooler weather we had we didn’t get the full use of them unfortunately. Nice open plan and airy dining/kitchen area with breakfast bar to use. Well stocked kitchen with plenty of cutlery, glasses, plates, pots/pans /dishes etc. All in all a very nice and clean place to stay. Owner is also very friendly and very helpful. (We had to postpone this holiday twice due to lockdown 2020/21) Look forward to staying here again at some point.

The Barn was amazing a real home from home.
We had the downstairs bedroom, a huge double with dressing room & a huge shower, it was lovely & clean towels put out for us.
The kitchen was so nice, huge wooden table that could easily seat 8. We were welcome with a bunch of tulips & some Welsh cakes.
Everything you could need, beautiful cups, plates, bowl's, etc lots of cutlery, pans, ovenproof dishes etc, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, remember to bring dishwasher tabs, & a range. Bring dog bowl's & beds. Also bring a cheese grater coz they don't seem to have one.
Walk along the quaint hallway & there is another bedroom with a bath & WC etc.
Walk a bit further & you come to an incredible lounge. Two leather sofas, beautiful furniture & three armchairs so plenty of seating, coffee table in the centre. WiFi available. Log fire, central heating. DVD player. Quality lamps & cushions.
Go upstairs which has a child-gate on it. Beware of the stone steps that lead up to two further bedrooms, 1 double & 2 singles plus another bathroom. They have sinks in all the rooms.
Go outside & there is a covered barn area, with an addition fridge & freezer. The logs are stored there & it includes a BBQ, so bring matches or firelighter.
There is a little room inside the barn that houses the boiler & has a washing machine & tumble dryer in it.
There is a huge, beautiful garden that wraps around the Grange it's fully unclosed so the dogs can run free, children's play area, patio furniture, whirlygig in the garden & clothes horse in the barn area, parking for several cars.
You will be amazed & very happy there
Note : the Grange is eco friendly so there are separate bins for general waste & recycled waste, food bins etc. They use eco friendly products, so loo rolls, cleaning products etc.
We will definitely come again. 😊

Trying to book was easy but processing my payment was difficult. I got a receipt saying I was paid in full then another reminder is emailed saying I owe $50 or my booking may be canceled.
Confusing as I signed in on site and tried to pay balance but did not get option.

Our booking which I received confirmation for and payment confirmation didn’t in fact go through which I was then left Un- notified thinking the booking was going ahead and only due to looking at my banking I noticed that the payment hadn’t gone through. I phoned the company to check who advised me that it hadn’t gone through which meant the booking wasn’t confirmed but didn’t ever send me anything to say that and now the dates I wanted have gone and now it’s ruined the plans we had for my mothers 50th birthday!! Not pleased at all.

Although disappointed, I fully understand the reasons for the late access and early departure from the property.
Honest Opinion about using big-cottages, Snapfish/Expedia – DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THEM
This past weekend we had a booking at a lovely cottage in York for a friend’s hen party. We booked it well in advance via big cottages, I then called and made an amendment and found it was managed by Snapfish but the payment was taken via Expedia. We were all traveling a minimum of 2 up to 4 hours to the venue from different parts of the UK. Everything was going great until we turned up at the cottage just after 4pm on the Friday evening to find it had been double booked and the owner had no knowledge of our booking or the website we had booked it on. I called big cottages to be told firstly all they could do was offer me a “COMPLIEMTRY REFUND”. Thank you for not charging us a cancellation fee for your mistake, Such an unhelpful response from a customer service assistant, This would take up to 15 days to receive and after 40 mins on hold they could not give me any information to make a complaint or put me through to the department to do so. I also asked if they recorded there calls which they replied yes but would not give me a copy of the call. So, they left 8 women stranded with no accommodation hours away from home and gave no compensation for their mistake or any offer of assistance with accommodation for the night.
I do not recommend ever using or booking through big cottage, I would find a more reputable company with a competent customer service team and complaints procedures. Disgraceful company and worse customer service I have ever experienced.

Very easy to book online but had to ring for extra information. V helpful person on the phone but unable to be 100% sure of the answer on this occasion.
Booked a cottage in Wales and all seemed ok. Received confirmation then nothing from owners.
Rang up and they said booking was fine. Next day email received with different reference number saying not available anymore so rang again.
Was told that it was still on under original reference so quoted second ref and was told it was the same holiday.
I asked if it was on or off and they couldn’t say for sure but suggested I wait until the week before and see if I heard anything - by which time the free cancellation period would have gone by. Couldn’t get a definitive answer at all, no matter how I asked.
I was then asked if I had any other questions and wished a nice day.
Needless to say I cancelled and booked the same cottage on a different site.
