Bike Rent NYC Reviews 

I bought a used bike from this company in the end of May. At the time, they were offering free shipping in the city. I had to contact them, and tried to set up a time, but they were VERY unresponsive to emails. I understand that we're in the middle of a pandemic, but they need to get more organized with facilitating bike sales. I ended up just having my husband pick up the bike from the store a week later. When he got there, they only had one size available even though they advertised 3 sizes on the website. Flash forward a month, the bike is falling apart. I've taken excellent care of it and yet the front derailleur and chain broke off. I contacted the company about it: no response. I brought it to get fixed and tuned up at a local trusted bike shop, and they charged me $200. I should have bought a brand new bike for this price that actually fits me. Moral of the story, do not buy a used bike from this company.

I had an excellent experience with Bike rent. This place helped me a lot during this lockdown by providing me with a helpful (and coveted..) bike. As an essential worker, I am very grateful for their assistance and generosity.

I ordered a bicycle from the Bike Rent NYC online shop. 10 days later I had to call them about the shipment. When I received the shipment then two days later it was a completely different and wrong product. Customer service was of little help and made promises that were never fulfilled. After another week I still haven’t received my product and the contacts will not answer their phones or emails and their mailboxes are full. Consumers beware.

Excellent service. Great bike. Just a tune up a few tweaks and it’s just as new. Awesome bikes would highly recommend anyone to use. Safe and fun.

I'm from Australia where the rear brake is operated by the left hand. Operating staff should have pointed out that at NYC the left hand operates the front pedal. Surely every bike hire should include a brief handover about operating procedures. Unfortunately, I used what I thought was the rear brake which was in fact the front one. Head over hills. 30K hospital bill.

Pretty simple process. Just viewed options and bought the one I wanted. However, I have not been contacted by Peter since our initial contact and do not have possession of the bike almost a week later.

I was fortunate enough to have the great opportunity to be able to be gifted a bike thought Transportation Alternatives which was donated by Bike Rent NYC (as I am an essential worker who has worked through this pandemic with a vulnerable population. The transaction was SEAMLESS, the employee who was there was warm and welcoming. I will be going back to purchase two used bikes for my children so that we all can travel safety during these uncertain times.

This company generously donated bikes to anyone doing volunteer or essential work in NYC during Covid. This generous programs has allowed me to safely travel to help feed the hungry and I can't thank them enough.
