Very satisfied customers

We were overseas first time visitors to Edinburgh. We wanted to get a more complete picture of the city than the Royal Mile(!) so decided to bike the Waters of Leigh, having read a bit about it online. We went to Biketrax because it was closest to our accommodation. What a joy to do business with them! They were SO helpful. Our bikes were ready and waiting for us, we were given very helpful information about where to ride and what to expect with the few detours. We purchased a cycle map from them which proved very useful. We spent about 5 hours in total on our bikes and loved every minute of it. We rate cycling along the Waters of Leith then to the Portobello and back around Holyrood Park the best thing we did in our 3 days in Edinburgh.

Nice staff. Good contact. Well prepared bikes. Dispite of choosing city bike a got road bike what was nice surprise. One thing to improve... Adding fix kit. after 1h from beginning my mate had got flat tire and his journey finished. No support from biketrax dispite of calling to them. Transport cost (Uber) wasn't covered by shop. Hi PI,

I'm sorry to hear you got a puncture! We do include puncture repair kits and spare tubes free of charge, on request - so I'm sorry this wasn't conveyed to you.

We check & service our bikes between every hire, and that includes checking the tyres - we understand that punctures still happen though, of course, and that is out of our control but unfortunately we can't offer you on the road support, as we'd have to double our prices! We are always very happy to fix punctures on our hire bikes for you free of charge when you bring the bike back to the shop.

Thanks for hiring from us,

Luke

Absolument parfait !

Personel was really nice, helpful and willing to share info on the city. They are also really easy to talk to even if not perfect english on our part. I made a reservation for a city bike and could change it for an e-bike the morning of the pick up without any hésitation or problem. That was really appreciated.
Also the bike was in perfect state, looking very recent and worked perfectly throughout the day. Perfect expérience!

Friendly staff and good bike selection

Friendly staff and good bike selection. Plenty of clothes, tools and equipment in the shop.
But:
- bit confusing hiring system
- thought that I get back some Quids if bikes got back earlier
- thought we could get bike maps for cycling around in Scotland

But all in all recomendable!

Hi Ronny,

Thanks for your review! If you'd like to email us with some comments as to how we can improve the hire system I'll happily take them on board.

We have maps on sale for Edinburgh and the Lothians, and some Cicerone guide books for popular routes throughout Scotland and northern England, so I apologise you did not find them!

Lastly, it is company policy that hire deposits / payments are not refundable except in exceptional circumstances - obviously having the bikes booked meant that we turned away other hires for the same bikes. We will endeavour to make this policy clearer in future.

Thanks,

Luke

A First Class Experience

Biketrax is a great company to deal with for bike hire. Both in telephone inquiries and in dealing personally with staff in the shop I experienced nothing but the highest standards of curtesy and helpfulness. I and my family, visiting Edinburgh, were hiring bikes for one and an found that the shop's location, close to the canal basin, made a great starting point for some safe cycling in the city. The canal path and connections from there to Edinburgh's cycleways made for a great day's cycling.

Excellent experience

Hired bikes from Biketrax to cycle along the canal and really enjoyed the experience. Bikes were pristine, staff were very friendly and helpful.

Canal very nearby and a great place to unwind. Watch the swans and moorhens going about their business. Colourful barges ambling along with cheery waves from their occupants. In contrast, watch the rowers speeding by. Well worth it.

I would recommend these guys to anyone

I would recommend these guys to anyone! So friendly and kind and truly genuine.
I loved that they didn’t have any hesitation to rent out to two teenagers and were very inviting!

What’s awesome is a very long list but a few of the top points would be that:
1. No credit card needed for a deposit! Which for me was brilliant I’m only 19 and haven’t got one.

2. Great bike knowledge and help with setup

3. Shop is near to the big cycle paths and routes in Edinburgh so you can get riding quickly

Overall a great ship they are running there

Quick tips: if you rent the Ridley Noah out, get your saddle height just right before you leave, they will tell you that the adjustment needs a specific max torque and so I didn’t dare touch it even though my saddle was a tad low, or an even better idea would be to ask to take the wrench out with you.
Ps - check out the door handle
