BitcoinIRA is a fee trap, plain and simple.

Depositing money was insanely easy. Withdrawing it has been one of the most frustrating financial experiences I’ve had.

I made a large deposit and over time realized I wasn’t losing money because of Bitcoin — I was losing money because of fees and terrible execution. Setup fees, trading fees, monthly fees (charged to a card AND deducted), ACH fees, wire fees, transfer fees, termination fees… it never ends. You’re getting hit from every direction.

The spot prices are awful. When you sell, you’re forced to accept a bad price again.

Now the exit: I initiated a full withdrawal over two weeks ago. I was promised 48 hours multiple times. Instead, it’s been constant follow-ups, mandatory video calls, “compliance reviews,” and delays. It feels intentionally burdensome. Easy in, hard out.

On top of that, once you finally escape, they tack on termination fees, ACH fees, transfer fees — and whatever else they can justify from their master services agreement.

If you’re considering a Bitcoin IRA, read the fine print very carefully. In my experience, this is not about helping you hold BTC tax-advantaged — it’s about slowly bleeding you through friction and fees.

If you truly need crypto in an IRA, I’d wait until this space is more normalized. Right now, platforms like this are extremely expensive lessons. I strongly regret using BitcoinIRA or stick with an ETF in your traditional IRA.
