I've used Bitly since 2008-9 for school, and then graduated and started using Bitly in my Marketing career.

I use Bitly's free plan for URL shortening, analytics, and customizing the back half of the URL for Social Media, Digital Marketing focused on advertising.

It was a good buy works great .. very dependent

My advice to anybody looking to integrate a link shortening service into their service offering is to avoid using Bit.ly and to source an alternative provider.

Bit'ly have a very can't do attitude towards problem solving as opposed to having a can do attitude. This is very unlike most modern day tech companies.

Disappointing to say the least.

This used to be a good service, but like so many other firms, they have been taken over by greed and are now charging large fees for services that are free elsewhere (and which they have monetised already via tracking data). Their customer service approach also seems to involve telling customers they are wrong over and over again until they go away. Shame.
