Summary: paid via booking.net on a Sunday for a hotel that night (via hotel listed on hotelmix.co.uk).
Arrived at hotel (hours later) - gave them my name; gave the booking reference: no reservation. They don't deal with booking.NET
Had to book & pay again, via booking.COM (instant confirmation)
Rang booking.NET Monday morning. They explained they hadn't received the additional information requested (I had inputted payment details. THEN it requested I authorise the payment in my bank app, before returning to the webpage. THEN it requested I upload or email: my passport or driver's licence PLUS bank card photo showing first 6 digits and last 4 digits BEFORE they could confirm the booking).
My email provider sent a delayed delivery message: they'd been unable to deliver my emails to booking.NET for the last 12 hours. Their server would continue trying for 48 hours - the same amount of time booking.NET states the rate could change.
I repeated:-
- I wanted a refund and that I had opened a dispute with my bank.
- The booking was for last night.
- I had rung the number on the hotelmix.co.uk website twice yesterday (on hold for 12 mins).
- I had sent the requested information.
- It wasn't my fault their email server wasn't working.
- I had to pay again, as the hotel had no record of my booking.
Thankfully, she refunded the money immediately and sent email confirmation. I closed the dispute with the bank. I obscured most of my driver's licence, including the photo and I've ordered a new bank card.
in future, I'll stick to booking.COM (I'd rate the resolution 5 star, because it was quick - the money was refunded to my account in minutes; but also, they didn't have a leg to stand on because the booking had already ended, they'd taken payment and not reserved the room with the hotel)
Had this been for an advanced booking, I may not have been as fortunate.

Our joba trip was changed and they understand the problem and help us to solve
Dodgy - there's no other word. I wish that zero stars was an option as this service needs to be reported to the police. They accepted my reservation and took payment for a hotel... that was closed. I didn't know when I booked, but the hotel had been contracted to the government for quarantine usage for several months before and after my booking. The booking agent had no business taking the booking and had no business charging me, it's just lucky I questioned it with the hotel directly.
The confirmation stated "Total amount:5306US$
Included
Taxes and fees
Not included: 45.6% Service charge, 179.40 USD Service charge.
This is deceptive, since the service fee calculation is not clear.

I would give NEGATIVE stars if I could. I thought I had booked through the hotel's website to only find out after I paid, my booking was unfortunately through booked.net. I was traveling to Barbados in December and didn't receive my negative COVID test results in time to for my flight so I had to push my travel plans back by one day. I reached out to the hotel, they told me they couldn't make any changes on their end so I'd have to reach out to the company I booked with. I did. I sent multiple emails. No response. So instead of not having a guaranteed reservation, I booked another hotel room and disputed the charges with my bank. Only THEN did I finally receive communication back from this bogus company asking why I wanted to dispute the charges. Somehow they rebutted the disputes I made highlighting the fact the reservation says non-refundable and no cancellations. I didn't want either I just wanted a CHANGE and a RESPONSE. We're in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC things/plans are constantly changing. How is this in any way justified??!!

Imagine my surprise while looking up my family’s cabin in Colorado; that we have had in the past as a rental property thru a legitimate site VRBO. Up pops photos of our family home for rent thru booking.net. Booking.net is a fraud. They do not have permission to post photos of our cabin. They do not have permission to “pretend” to be able to rent it. I strongly suggest to you booking.net you remove these photos from your bogus site immediately before we take legal action.

On 8th July last I put in a review based on fact that Booked.net had refused my hotel refund when I had to cancel due to Covid travel. They responded to this on 18th August to say essentially that hotel had no cancellation clause and there was nothing they could do. I was left in no option but to engage my travel insurance. Luckily they had the resources and knowledge to follow through the issue and proved that hotel had never taken the money at all and only when Booked.net were presented with the facts from the investigation did they concede and they refunded my money on 11th December. I would NEVER TRUST this booking site.

I thought I was on a hotel's website in Shrewsbury. Made the booking and have my credit card details for payment. The next page then asked for a photo copy of my passport and credit card. At that point I thought this must be SCAM. I tried to go back to the previous page and it would not let me. Contacted my credit card company to find that 1 Euro had been debited from my account. I subsequently received an email from booked.net asking for the passport details. I replied to say that I wanted to cancel the booking and I will be checking over the next few days that ther not been any charges on my credit card. I have now booked directly with the hotel.

Efficace !

We booked a hotel through booked thanks to a low price.
During our stay there was a misunderstanding with the hotel and we paid twice for the stay.
The hotel had to inquire and recontact us but despite our reminders it never answered us.
Thanks to the intermediary of booked we were able to be reimbursed. I recommend this service because we can trust them. We had fast and pleasant exchanges by email and we are kept informed of our file. Efficient!

Due to the coronavirus situation, we first had to postpone a firm, non-refundable, booking and then finally cancel it. We asked for total reimbursment wich was granted. Thank you so much to the hotel and booking agent Kate.
Very friendly service and we could cancel the reservation without any costs due to Covid.

I really believed i had booked directly with the hotel as we had stayed there before, The scammed website was very convincing.
Just before our travel date I contacted them to ask about changing our dates due to concerns over rising covid rates and looming airline cancellations, I was surprised by the response as the hotel is a small family run hotel and i’d expected a good reply, it was then I discovered that I had booked through an agent? I was told that no date changes or refunds were possible as they had reciprocal agreements with their hoteliers and suppliers ie they have paid the hotel so we lose our money. We stood to lose both the flight and hotel costs so we decided to travel.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were told our booking had been cancelled by a company called OTS (a supplier to Booked.net) we were provided with the cancellation form as proof, next day we were told by the hotel manager that either a cancellation or a no show would result in the hotel receiving absolutely nothing at all from the agents.
I contacted booked.net a few times, they said they would Investigate but that was the last I heard.
It worries me to think there are possibly thousands of people this year paying for accommodation but losing it due to covid and these deceitful people are keeping all of their money whilst paying hoteliers in distressed resorts nothing at all, this practice surely is not legal?
RE YOUR REPLY
Thanks for your reply, I find it amazing that you are trying to get me a refund as I have not asked for that! The hotel are not responsible in any way for my complaint!
I suggest your over enthusiastic reply is purely for the purpose of convincing readers that you are genuine?
I have emails from Kate in your office confirming our reservation after the date that it was actually cancelled by your supplier! That’s along with a statement about refunds and date changes not being possible as have no way of retrieving the amount from the hotelier, this was a lie, the hotel manager told me the agreement they have with the agent does not allow for cancellations or no shows and they would not receive any payment at all from the agents.

1 Star because 0 isnt an option.. They advertise locations that they dont actually have the permission from the owners to advertise let alone take a booking, if you give these scammers your money there is a good chance you will never see it again, or have actually booked anything!

I cannot believe that such a website exists and claims to be legal. I found out by chance that they are advertising our property without permission. The advert is awful - full of wrong and misleading information, with photos lifted from a legitimate website. I asked them to remove the advert, but they said they couldn't, and that they had an 'agreement' with 'suppliers'. The only 'supplier' they have named is Travolutionary....whoever they are - but we never gave them permission either! As I write, the dispute continues. I want them to remove all trace of our property. They want me to send the correct details!!! Unbelievable.
Following the reply from booked.net. We have not signed any contract for this property. If you believe we have, please send a copy so we can check the signature is genuine. You continue to claim that your 'partners' gave you permission to advertise our property, but you never name them. If you had nothing to hide, you would be much more transparent.

Shocking service - do not use!!
I booked a stay for August 2020,during the coronavirus pandemic) and was told that I wasn't liable to receive any money back as the hotel weren't offering flexibility on non refundable stays. This is not the case and had I booked directly through the company I could have changed my stay rather then lose my money

I filled the submit form twice, emailed support twice and rang the London international number without getting through. I've had absolutely no response from this company. Because of the COVID-19 virus I can't go to Bali this month. I want my money refunded.

Regardless of the fact that I booked a fixed fare with no change options, my request for a corona-based refund was granted. This solution obviously required a good cooperation with the chosen hotel, which was also very customer-oriented. We were looked after by Jane, who did an excellent job and kept us informed of developments in a timely manner. We shall book again, once the Covid-19 problems are behind us.

I had a booking for a hotel in Dieppe, France and was not able to take up the booking because of the UK government imposing quarantine of 14 days of return to England. Technically, I wasn't entitled to a refund for the booking and just accepted that I would lose money. However, Kate from Booking.net contacted me and said she would try to get a refund. To my surprise, she was successful. She didn't have to' go the extra mile' - very impressed. Will certainly use Booked.net again.
