My last two borrowed dogs were well behaved.

I couldn't recommend BorrowMyDoggy more! We lost our dog Django last year but aren't in a position to get another one for a while. We joined BorrowMyDoggy and now walk a huge Saint Bernard called Ginny who our kids LOVE. We literally borrow her as our own - we walk her and then take her home and she lies on the sofa for a cuddle. It gives us the perfect snippet of dog time!

I found Borrow my doggie easy to navigate and took my little dog Snowy to meet a young 7 year old young lady who enjoyed his company for a couple of hours so they got to know each other. I think the site is ideal for young and old alike to get some idea as to what it is like to own a dog and perhaps find a breed they enjoy the company of.

Recently joined Borrowmydog, easy to navigate.
Made contact with my first pooch/owner, and now walk their dog.
Have also been approached by another owner/dog too.
I like that I have total control of when I walk their dog , if available.
So it's a win win for all!

I'm disabled so I my dog doesn't get enough exercise.
I only let those with an upgraded membership borrow my doggy as they will have used their bank card.
Thre borrowers are wonderful, dog loving people who, for whatever reason, can't have a dog of their own.

Easy to navigate website, connected with a local dog owner and set up first meeting with ease. Would recommend.

Borrow My Doggy has been a fantastic experience. We have looked after some lovely dogs and made lifelong friends. I would recommend it to anyone.

my dog became sad and anxious about being alone when her sister died, in addition I started to have to limit my working from home unexpectedly. BorrowmyDoggy was a lifesaver for us all. We have had a few, long term borrowers who love my dog as much as we do. She is happy, I’m delighted. She now has it confirmed what she always thought…. EVERYONE LOVES HER. 😂 Been a member now for 7 years and couldn’t be happier, sure people don’t always respond, thats to be expected and not the website’s fault, persevere.

You have to pay £48.99 in one go to be able to send and receive messages, without this you cannot do anything on the site, this is a lot to pay in one go. They should at least allow monthly payments, that would give customers piece of mind, knowing one month you may not find someone but then the next month you could try again, then maybe if you have no joy after 3/4 months you can decide whether to carry on with a small payment of £4.08 per month. They'd have a lot more custom if this was the case and a lot less bad reviews. I am not interested in the 30 day money back if it doesn't work (which is what they will probably reply to this review with), that is no good and as I hear from other reviews some never get the money back! It could take a few months to find a borrower, just allow people to pay monthly!

I not only met and walked Ted a lovely miniature poodle, but also made firm friend with the whole family. Excellent to know that you are insured whilst walking someone else's lovable dog.

I have met a lovely young couple who have taken Louie out for 2 long walks. I am very grateful to have them in Louie’s life.❤️

I joined whilst I was furloughed during Covid, due to my schedule being unpredictable at the time, I never got the chance to be matched with anyone.
I rejoined in May 2025, I was matched with a wonderful 1 year golden retriever (who I see pretty much every week and now provide basic recall training for)
Due to my preference of bigger dogs and working with welfare dogs in my profession I have had wonderful messages from owners reaching out.
I would advice new borrowers who are thinking of joining up to pay to become a more active member as owners respond more knowing you are active on the site (just a thought of course)
I took on my second dog (4 year old German Shepherd) in Nov 2025 who’s been a delight to have on the odd overnight stay.
Had nothing but positive energy from BMD, as I cannot own my own dog right now, it’s a great feeling know long you’re able to help out!

Borrow My Doggy made it easy for me to match up with somebody who needed an extra bit of help with their dog. Premium membership (a fraction over £1 a month for the borrower) means you have 3rd Party and vet insurance, giving you peace of mind, so it's well worth it.
I would recommend Borrow My Doggy to anybody.

I've been using Borrow My Doggy as a borrower for almost 5 years and I love it! There are all sorts of dogs needing a variety of walks and my experience has been positive.
I personally commit to one dog at a time and do regular twice weekly walks to suit the dog, the owner and me!

Disappointed - 2 connections I made bailed at the last minute and then the 3rd “had a cold” and didn’t meet as planned.
1 good connection I made..we walked and got on really well, then never heard from her !
Generally really disappointed

I paid a penny short of £50, messaged an enormous amount of people, one responded to say they are not available. Most of the borrowers are either not paid members so they are unable to communicate or have been inactive for months or even years. A manipulative, dishonest scam company leeching on people’s hopes and needs, taking their money and not only providing nothing in return, but taking even more money from the unsuspecting customers with their “autorenew” membership. Shameless. The scam system they built should have been obvious if I’d given more thought to it before I paid for a so called “membership”. Daytime robbery. Be very careful.
Ps. Following my review I received an email from them to try and further sell me the idea of the nonexistent dog loving community and giving me lectures where I went wrong, why I didn’t get any response from anyone and that I should take my dog elsewhere if I need someone to give him company while I’m away. Appalling organisation.

If you’re considering using this company here’s what you need to do. (From someone who has been there-done that)
If you’re someone with a dog. Hire a reliable dog walker. Someone you can depend on to look after your dog and who you have a contract with.
If you’re looking to borrow a dog, ask your neighbours, or go on to Facebook and ask there. The vet line isn’t really helpful because animals need to be seen in person most of the time for a diagnosis or the owner can tell you if somethings wrong.
The insurance is not worth the paper it’s written on as the circumstances for claiming are limited. (Check the fine print).
Sorted! Just saved you your money :)
Ps it’s a recurring- long term subscription model where you need to unsubscribe straight away or you’ll keep being charged. If you’re a dog owner, you’ll keep getting phone calls from the BMD team. Not worth the hassle.
