Poor customer service response in yard on Various occasion
I ordered cement on line and arrived to collect. Various staff were around but no one acknowledged me. After about 5 mins a guy asked could he help. I explained what I was there for and he advised that my order had not yet reached them and so I needed to go to the office. Ok, it had only been about half hour since I had ordered and so fair enough.
On returning from the office the guy I had seen had moved off with another customer and so then went through the waiting and ignoring process for about another 5 mins before I got the attention of a lad who helped me.
This repeats similar experience that I have had on a number of occasions ( at least 4) at this yard.
I usually use Hales who are very helpful and always friendly and polite but Bradfords in Ross is much closer for me.
I wish the leadership of Bradford’s would teach and encourage their teams in basic customer service. It really matters in todays world and costs nothing.
Try observing Screwfix or toolstation processes and staff. A world apart!

Amazing team at Ross-on-Wye
Being not in the building trade, it is sometimes a little daunting to go into a builders merchants, but this visit was a pleasant revelation. I was phoned quickly after putting in the order and advised to pick up the coving from the yard. Not being certain where to go, I went into the sales room and greeted in a prompt, friendly, professional manner. On the way out a member of staff delayed to hold door open for me, with a smile and passing some pleasantries. Due to my lack of IT skills, my invoice hadn’t been emailed so I went back into the reception, where the initial chap again promptly helped me and printed out a copy of invoice, finishing by giving his name to be contacted if any issue in the yard.
I then went to the yard and was met by two chaps, who were cheerful and friendly, and quickly helped me collect the coving.
What a brilliant team at Ross-on-Wye.

Returns policy bad for environment
At the request of my tradesperson, I purchased three 25kg plastic bags of cement on 20th December. This morning, the Ross on Wye branch said it would accept return of one unused bag, but when my husband travelled to the branch with said cement, his request was refused. So, now it is destined for landfill - not a very environmentally friendly policy!

The oak sleepers I ordered and were delivered were of terrible quality. I sent them back. I still haven't heard from anyone whether they are delivering better quality ones or not. Not even a phone call
