Buildspect Consulting specialises at providing evidence and advice for building and constructions projects, which is designed to be used as evidence in the courts. We then back that up by appearing in court to provide oral evidence where required. This gives our clients the facts, from an independent source, allowing them to either settle a dispute, or argue in the courts from a position of strength.

Like the previous review, Buildspect did not complete the task, yet still invoiced me. I have disputed this invoice and their response was to refer it to a debt collector.
I engaged them to put together a building inspection report, that could be used in a dispute with my builder. They accepted this engagement, however, on reviewing an existing report which was put together by the builder (which would have taken them 5min), declined to go any further stating they could not/would not add any value.
I assumed that was the end of it, but 2 months later received an invoice for a considerable amount.
I have referred them to Consumer Affairs

Well, they were willing to take money for a half completed job could not accurately investigate and document a very simple building defect which stalled my case over a month with no right up. I requested my money back at. First, they were not forthcoming. To which I walked away from but said I would follow up when I had time. They eventually recognised and refunded my initial deposit.
We had arranged for buildspect to come out and inspect our home as we had experienced some movement. After discussing the matter with the building inspector it was agreed that the damage was caused by slab heave as a result of the building works. We had to wait over a month for our report and only received it after I had called asking where it was. Once reading the report the building inspector had included things we did not discuss and had stated that the slab heave was our fault. When I called him he stated that he had simply changed his min (some 4 weeks later) and had not bothered to contact me to advise me of this. Not a good experience. I would never use buildspect again and I refused to pay for a report the contents of which were never discussed with me before hand.
I can't speak highly enough. We used Buildspect twice when buying our first house and they saved us from buying a newly renovated property that looked great on the surface, but in fact needed $60k of essential work. We used them again when we purchased a second house and again they did a thorough job. The inspectors were always available to run me through the reports in layman's terms. And they were very, very quick which was is important when you're making offers and negotiating with real estate agents and banks. I recommend them to everyone :)
Professional, thorough and very comprehensive.
My job was a small one but Buildspect treated as seriously as any expensive project
Corporative, quick response n full explanation details of work report.
Took the time to talk me through the pro and cons and legal ramifications. They seemed sincere and honest.
John of Buildspect attended an AGM (after hours) to assist Owners understanding of the Engineers Report and steps to achieve a reasonable outcome for Owners if they decided to proceed to VCAT.
All Members present were satisfied with the advice given by John
The work completed was of a high standard but would have given 5 stars but work not completed in out opinion in a timely fashion
I hired Buildspect to perform a Quality Assurance Inspection during Handover Stage of my property in Docklands, Victoria in January 2016 since I was an overseas purchaser domiciled in Malaysia hence unable to attend to the handover stage in person with both the developer & builders.
Excellent and professional in their service and detailed report presented which made it easy for me to follow-up with the builders and developer.
All was good except for the day the neighbour was upset as an appointment was made with her at 10am and the inspector did not turn up we later found out he was elsewhere and advised that he did not have a work order for the job. It was eventually sorted but neighbour was not happy and client would have preferred more communication all round.
This is the second time I have used this company and they are efficient, no fuss and thorough. I have no hesitation in recommending them. They are also pleasant to deal with, and urgency is not a problem.
Peter was excellent. Very respectful of our pool. Report was helpful. Referred us to have the Pool X-Rayed and a Chemical Engineer - Andrew came to assist. From the outset Buildspect were on the ball. When everyone else in the pool business came up with all different theories as to what was wrong with our pool. Peter and Andrew did not assume anything. They conducted tests and gave the data; which showed where the pool builder had made mistakes. The pool builder then couldn't argue. Whilst we still haven't settled as the matter in now in VCAT the buildspec employees have always answered our calls promptly. They have always been respectful of our property. I would definitely use them again and would have no hesitation in recommending Buildspec.
Buildspect were requested to review a new build and provide a report on the quality and level of workmanship.
The report provided was clear concise and professional in its summary and presentation outlining all areas of builder related non compliance to standard and regulation throughout the job.
I would recommend BuidSpect and certainly use them to provide expert guidance.
We engaged Buildspect for a property inspection, prior to purchase. The review was detailed, thorough and provided quotes on rectification which we can now verify were accurate. They were timely, and it was easy to arrange. The consultant was also available to for a phone call to discuss any questions we had about the report. This was immensely helpful. Highly recommend.
Mark Hardman's inspection of our new home was excellent.
He detected a number of items that we had previously not noticed.
Money well spent, thanks Mark.
The company is acceptable and my experience was ok but the cost was no more than others in the industry are charging
