Scammers. Subscribed me to their book club without my recollection. Customer services is barely available. Only found their email/number in this feed not on their website. I emailed this email address, waiting for a reply. Aweful, should be stopped.

First time purchasing from this company, I was seeking a hard copy of " the game of life and how to pay it" by Florence sovel shinn. I searched online trying to find a cover that appealed to me and came across buuks. Co.uk collection version. It was just what I was looking for. I have a preference for minimal, classic and timeless designs in most things. This cover was hard back and black - well thought-out and I'm sure fluorescence herself would approve of how buuks on this case have represented her book. I know it would be a good read as I've already listened to the audio and it resonated with me immensely but I wanted to hard copy as I prefer to have a book to hold and reference etc. I Brough one for myself and another for a friend who I knew would find florences ideas useful. I say it's valuable in so many ways, reasonable price and quality from the words on the page to the book cover. It's also not a big chunky book it's nice, comfortable hold about A5 size.

I bought a book a year ago for around £3,50 and they automatically rolled me into their membership which I was not aware of. Charged monthly £15. I never used their service. The book I bought from them now cost me £180 . When I realised what is going on , I asked for refund They refused to refund any of it , instead sending me long emails to show how genuine and transparent they are. Don’t buy anything from those scammers. You will be better off by paying few pounds extra for the book you need elsewhere.

This company are an absolute nightmare. Their customer care is atrocious. Claudia has been my contact. I cancelled my membership immediately after first payment in November and they are still taking money from my account 3 months later despite acknowledging their technical error. I placed an order which was never delivered. Instead of providing me with proof of delivery as I requested they are insisting on a photo of the packaging for the one out of 6 books that was delivered. The book was a gift for a child who lives 200 miles away and they didn’t keep the package although what purpose this would serve is beyond me. On many occasions I have asked for their CEO email and have been ignored. They owe me several books and 3 membership payments which they will not honour.

Complete scam, my son bought a book, but received 2 copies, one to his uni address, one to his home address, he got in touch with the company they said they will refund his money as long as the book is returned within 14days. So I took the book and tried to send it to the given address with Royal mail,48 hour tracked. I was told that the postcode is not valid, it is an old postcode that is no longer used. The book would never have got to the given address due to the false postcode, I tried to put it into Google maps and that app could not find it either. So I would be extremely surprised if anyone gets any money refunded! Keep away from this site!!!!!!

Read the reviews, this is a scam and the company will not refund you. I went to my bank and they recovered all the funds as there was no doubt this is fraud. If you get scammed, go to the bank and report it as fraud.

this company is a scam. Disgusting - they should be utterly ashamed of the way they conduct themselves. I bought a book for £6 back in 2021 - Order no.
902215 £6.44 18 /5 /2021 - and this, I now discover, triggered a 'membership' that entailed £15 going out of my account every month ever since. I shall be looking into this. I bought a book for my niece and have ended up paying out hundreds of pounds. I am so upset and angry. What a way to conduct yourselves. It is perfectly evident from the reviews on this site that your company does not make the subscription clear. Who in their right mind would order a book for £6.44 and commit to paying hundreds of pounds for nothing? There has even been an article in The Guardian newspaper about your company written 15th June 2021 - and you are still profiting shamelessly from your deliberately opaque billing. If you cared about your customers you would make things clearer. I will not be letting this drop.
++++
further to your reply below..
When I ordered the book in May 2021 it was certainly not clear - and I am presuming you have made the terms more clear on your website since the newspaper article etc alerted people to the lack of clarity. I have sent you an email as the phone call (I rang you) was not in any way helpful. I terminated the membership as soon as realised it was in place. But, with £15 going out of my account every month since May 2021 until this week, I expect to be recompensed
Here is an extract from The Guardian on the subject (written in June 2021 - a month after I placed my order)
'It seemed like a cheap book deal – but it was a club costing £15 a month
Buuks.co.uk didn’t make it clear I was being automatically signed up to a subscription charge
An open book? Conditions are clear on a PC but not so obvious on a mobile phone.
I recently bought a book from the website buuks.co.uk. It was a cookbook advertised at the attractive price of £12.63 (including free delivery), making it a few pounds cheaper than the closest competitor.
I completed my transaction but had a funny feeling something wasn’t right, so I searched a review site and found out it relies on membership.
I went back to the product page and saw that, indeed, £12.63 was a “member’s price”. In a small pop-up box (which doesn’t appear on a mobile device) it states that these are for “members only” and that you will automatically be subscribed as a member at £15 a month.
What should I do now? I have the book, which I want to return and I want to stop the membership before it starts.
AW, by email
Buuks.co.uk, based in Denmark, is not going to last very long if 95% of its customers keep reporting a “bad” experience as they currently do on Trustpilot.'
Why do you not write a clear email stating the membership in the main body of the text? The email you sent in response to my order did not clearly state that a direct debit had been set up taking £15 / month. If you want to be clear, it should of course be the case that the email states clearly the terms of a direct debit - the amount and the date of the charge. This was not the case and there is clearly a reason why you choose not to be clear.

Found it hard to source this book elsewhere, so grateful to have found it here. Prompt delivery & good communication.

I fell for this scam as well, and I'm normally very good at spotting such things. I bought a £3.50 book then they took 6 months of £15 a month. I only realised the other day when I was looking over my old bank statements.
Disgusting company.

Worst ever!
I made two orders 1 week apart. The first order came. The 2nd on 29th Sept did not, I waited a month still nothing. I understand the membership fee which was fine was I had two big orders. I unfortunately fell extremely ill and ended up in hospital unable to chase it up until now as I am better, and out of hospital. Christopher from buuks confirms the package had not arrived, as he states the system is notified when it is dispatched and delivered. I asked for a refund, he refuses stating he needs to contact the supplies 1st. I state that I want it cancelled since the books have not arrived 4months later, that's basis for a refund. He refuses, and refuses to pass me onto a manager( I believe its solely him) stating I should send an email or call customer contact centre( which I had).
I then also ask for a refund for my membership for the last 2 months I've been in hospital as I did not have the capacity to cancel or pause my membership due to fighting for my life. Christopher says if I had 'contacted them at the time, the membership would had been cancelled' I explain again why this was not possible, he says 'a family member should have contacted us'. ARE YOU FRICKING KIDDING ME?! Whilst they all hoping I pulled through, we should have had buuks on our mind.
Now I'm sure he's going to conjure a reply below this. Just give me a refund on my order you failed to deliver buuks! Looking at the reviews, I'm sure my order has returned to the company and they've still kept my money.

⛔️Warning scam⛔️
Do not buy from them, my mum ordered a book at Christmas. Over priced to start with.
Just recently she realised that money was coming out of her account. Two payments of £9.99.
Turns out she unwillingly signed up to a membership.
Managed to contact bank and cancel the “membership” also get her money back.
Very shameful that this website can still be allowed to be in business.
Edit to reply: you haven’t even tried to “find” me on your system, how are you going to find my mum with absolutely non of her information🤔

I bought 1 book and then they scammed by making me a member for £15 month . This was not made obvious to me during the buying process. Outrageous and I will be taking the company to small claims court. I note currently 74 % of reviews give your company 1 out of 5 . 1 is the lowest score . You really need to change the way you do business. I feel robbed by this company .I saw your reply below . and this is not a resolution. I did not set up a direct debit to your company . Will you refund the money you took from my account ????

Awful. I followed a link online that led me straight to book and payment. Didn’t mention prescription at all that I could see. Only once that sent confirmation. I promptly sent email to cancel. They said they would cancel but still charged me another £20.00. Total scam and zero stars

The book was available at a good price, payment was quick and easy and the book arrived quickly and in good condition
