Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 130 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Reviewers frequently complained about receiving persistent demands and notices regarding account balances that they believed had already been settled or belonged to other accounts. Many people also struggled to reach customer support teams, often encountering extremely rude communication, automated dead ends, and entirely unhelpful responses when attempting to resolve their complex disputes. Some reviewers were happy with the assistance they received from certain staff members during their interactions. Customers noted that specific representatives were understanding, polite, and genuinely helpful when organizing straightforward payment plans for those facing financial difficulties.

Report BW Legal to authorities to stop them

I am quoting below recommended steps from another reviewer/victim of BW Legal, with my own input:

First contact the supposed "debtor" for their confirmation that no such debt exist. Keep their confirmation as eveidence.

I have then logged a report with Action Fraud (Crime reference number: NFRC250907630162) & suggest you all do the same, as well as complaining to the Law Society & Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Contact whatever false client they have been 'instructed' by and confirm the claim is false and keep evidence.

GOOGLE AND LOG COMPLAINTS WITH:-

- ACTION FRAUD
- THE SOLICITORS REGULATION AUTHORITY

I mention Sean BARTON and Rachael WITHERS the directors of BW LEGAL SERVICES LIMITED in my reportings. Their information is on Companies House, company number 07966978.

I'm doing this review on behalf of a…good friend

I'm doing this review on behalf of a friend of mine who i look after with his health. This company is harassing him every day with phone calls and emails and texts. He's 81 and has a severe heart condition and he's unable to sleep but sits in a chair worrying which is causing stress on his heart. This company needs to be brought to account

BW Legal

BW Legal! Never known a company as unprofessional and bad as this, they are just out to get money from the vulnerable, weak and scared.

From a £60 parking fine on my partners own property generated by another robbing company Parking Property Management PPM (Google them) my debt was £420 after being advised by other neighbors that this company will do nothing other than chase and nobody else has paid for parking on a property we live in.

The constant letters received from them and of course they are cleverly sent in a way they make sure the amount was below the limit you can claim against them for harassment.
The demand to basically pay up and giving date cutoff's to contact them and pay (even offers friendly affordable instalments) and we 'may' take legal action all tactically worded if you don't contact them.
Anyway, with the threat of legal proceedings and noted soft searches done on my Credit Score account a money claim was put on me from BW through a HMRC Court (apparently) and a risk of a CCJ's placed on my credit history which nobody wants so i had to defend this claim.

I didn't want to go to Court, this is not my kind of lifestyle and not normal for me and for the record i have never been in debt even with a mortgage nore have i have never missed any payment on anything.
I defended my claim online and presented my story and evidence providing pretty conclusive answers that the claim was not valid by PPM.
After a couple of weeks of silence the next letter landed, a book of paperwork that BW Legal had submitted to the Court for their defense and claiming that my defense had been dismissed and PPM still wanted to pursue their debt recovery and the Court costs if lost would be put onto my debt.

I'm not one for claim anxiety and stuff but admittingly i dreaded going home everyday expecting that next letter to be waiting for me.

After reading other reviews of BW Legal I wanted no verbal communication with these people as a lot of reviews claim that even after setting up payment plans etc extra cost kept occurring where these people are unprofessional and not clued up enough to do their jobs and following through with any contract agreements made.

I chose to make a one off payment on their portal to completely clear off the £420 debt and have no more dealings with them for which i had an email to show the payment was successful.
Payment even showed on my credit card statement as BW Legal so i though all was good.

Wrong!, magically i have received 'nothing' from these people since, no email to say your debt is clear and not even one single letter....have they vanished with my money??....probably not as they are chasing the next person!

They got £420 out of me without any question of a discount to get them off my back, the least i expect is a thank you letter and to say we wont be bothering you ever again but no, too much to ask.

THEY NEED REPORTING BY EVERYONE!!

This firm BW Legal is overwhelmed with…

This firm BW Legal is overwhelmed with complaints, for this reason they cannot answer emails or letters individually. So they send out each week tens of thousands standard reply letters acknowledging your recent communication with them which they promise to answer shortly. They rarely do, so you write to them again and again with no quick Result. For almost three years we have not used any gas, we do not use gas, B W Legal were advised of this often and so were their clients British Gas, even so for these 3 years we have been billed for gas we had not consumed, our meter readings were totally ignored. Some months ago we had British Gas remove the gas meter (to disconnect us) but this did not stop them, they've just sent us another estimated gas usage bill for £231-00. May I urge you to find another supplier, or to stop using British Gas (it is not British Gas they buy it abroad and import it for pennies) Do it today fight back. All the other suppliers are much cheaper!.

BW Legal appears to be a data scraping…

BW Legal appears to be a data scraping agency under the guise of a debt collection agency. Their modus operandi appears to be to gather information about people's accounts with service providers (such as energy or broadband providers, etc) and issue debt recovery letters for non existent debts. You then have to provide them with all of your personal details and ID just to be able to speak to them, followed by detailed account information to prove the debt doesn't exist. They have no way of communicating with them without providing detailed personal information, so my advice is to go directly to the legal ombudsman. Hopefully these people will be shut down.

Malevolant Company

I was issued with with a huge fine dated 2022 on behalf of British Gas for a property I had moved out of 6 years ago. I complied with BW Legal's appeal process and supplied them with more than enough evidence that I no did not occupy the address for the dates detailed on the fine. Including confirmation of move-out date from the letting agent, evidence of a work contract and a mortgage agreement for my current address in a different city, and proof of current occupancy with an up to date council tax letter. This took then 2 months to process, following which they retaliated with a claim that this was insufficient evidence, and requesting extremally specific further documentation. I am now spending my leisure time further perusing this appeal.
I was initially not going to leave a poor review and gave them an opportunity to prove that they have a robust and reasonable appeals service. Unequivocally, this system is set-up to build pressure on customers, (note: crass banners on their website advertising rapid payments with small discounts) and this is immoral.

Scammers

Why are you contacting me again?
I literally left you a review a couple of weeks ago. This being the 3rd one!
What is it you think you are doing? Because you aren't owed anything. You've never been owed anything. You'll never be owed anything.
I found that out AFTER you WERE paid money from me that you WEREN'T owed right before I gave birth!
You are scammers. You lie & harrass innocent people. You pick at the vulnerable ones. This will be taken further against you.
Utterly despicable vile vultures!
Sort your sad lives out, I hope each & every one of you harrassers get the treatment that you're dishing out to the public.
Get a real job, absolutely pathetic.

Received a demand letter for a gas bill which was nothing to do with me. Replied with correspondence and raised a complaint but did not receive a response to either. These people are incompetent at best and there is no excuse for ignorance.

Fraudsters and Liars.

Sent me a PCN debt collection letter from a PCN that is 5 years old.

1- I have never received or been chased for this PCN in 5 years, despite living at 2 addresses, having my car registered to them, and being on the electoral register.
2- To date have not provided any evidence of the debt despite me asking 3 times now
3- Accused me via email of not having my car registered at my address, which it always has been
4- Have lied and said that Britannia Parking have recently sent them the debt (that's 5 years old) which is BS. If it actually exists, they have clearly bought the debt not from Britannia Parking or why would it take so long to get the PCN.

I am looking forward to reporting them to the FCA, and Ombudsmen.

Companies like this need shutting down. I respect any company chasing legitimate debt, its their job, but these guys are fraudsters.

Just to update my review - after 5 months of chasing them, the debt didnt even exist! Unprofessional, and they do not follow codes of financial conduct, I have a report in with them to the SRA, FCA and Financial Ombudsman as of December 2025.

Harassing us

Harassing us for a British Gas debt when we didn't even live in the property. Still sending threatening letters in spite of British Gas confirming it's not our debt.
Complaining to FCA.

Absolute nightmare

I received two letters from BW Legal asking me to pay a British Gas debt that wasn’t mine. They had found my address and my name, when I phoned them they even knew my date of birth! I didn’t even have an account with British Gas. This took me two days to resolve as every time I was phoning British Gas they told me to phone BW Legal, but BW Legal wanted proof from British Gas. An absolute nightmare! I was lucky to eventually be put through the credit department and legal team at British Gas and we did a joint call with BW Legal to prove to them that I didn’t have an account for BG. If you receive a letter from them that you believe is false, please don’t pay and do everything you can to contest it! My case is now resolved but the amount of stress and uncertainty that these letters and phone calls brought on me won’t be erased! I’m also very concerned about where they got all my personal data from.

Sending threaten letters, calls. text with something I am not aware of.

The BW legal send me threaten letters with a private parking PCN over something I've never owned.

They threaten with Court and CCJ. I ask them to provide evidence and they can not provide. The worst company ever to deal with.

I even ask them how can you sleep if over 800 people give you the worst review on Trust pilot. Do NOT
