First-rate company

First, the design and quality of the CL is fantastic. Second, a missing tube of pepper balls was quickly addressed with a phone call and conversation with Maria. She was very helpful and professional. I am impressed with Byrna's commitment to customer satisfaction.

Your customer service employee Maria D.

Your customer service employee, Maria D. made my purchase so easy and enjoyable while she answered all my questions. She was so knowledgeable about your Byrna CL model with all the possible accessories from lasers to holsters and also product maintenance and airport travel including the laws in different states. She immediately answered all my questions which showed me she knew the answers without looking them up, impressive employee! I bent her ear for a long time with questions while placing and buying my order and she never got short or unpleasant with me. She is definitely an asset to your company and I was lucky to have her wait on me. Best wishes for her and your company for selling a great product that I learned about while watching Fox News who endorses your products.

Policy Over Customer Experience Company

Byrna's customer service reps are all polite and professional. The company just needs focus in on results over processes.

My Byrna CL arrived out of the box with rough edges, poor molding construction and loud rattling optic screws. These are facts that Byrna's CEO has publicly acknowledged with some of their Bryna CLs.

So when dealing with external, cosmetic issues that are acknowledged, I would expect the company to send a replacement ASAP. Byrna receiving the blemished launcher first is irrelevant for these specific situations.

Ideally, a replacement launcher should be sent as soon as they are made aware of the issue. I personally offered to take my CL to a local official Byrna retail store for proof.

At worst, once you can prove with a tracking number that you have sent the launcher back, a new one should be in the mail the same day.

They focus on hiding behind the "policy"rather than fast solutions. Does the company have that right? Of course they do. Consumers also have the right to choose a company with better service.

Byrna needs to understand the basics of customer service is to serve the customer. Work with us, give us options.

Less lethal defense is a rapidly growing space and it will be interesting to see how Byrna's approach to customer service will be received as competition increases.

This is the first time I have made a purchase and dealt with the Byrna Customer Service, in particular Allison Griffith. I can honestly say that the experience was excellent. Allison was very professional and sympathetic to my request. She did everything she could to accommodate my request and gave a me a response in adequate time. DO NOT BUY THE CL!! I bought the Byrna CL based on their…

I bought the Byrna CL based on their description of this model. My first mistake! Once I had it and tried it out, much to my chagrin I discovered it doesn’t work anywhere like the company advertised it! I’d do better with a slingshot! It’s not going to stop a dog let alone a person. You’d just be laughed at unless you’re really good shot and hit them directly in the eyeball! Way way way too expensive for what it is…..a toy, maybe?? Don’t buy this piece of junk, save your money and get a pellet gun at Tractor Supply or Atwoods, they’re cheaper and more effective!

My experience with your company is…

My experience with your company is always amazing. before the sale during the sale after the sale warranty or even out of warranty, you guys always answer every question and you guys always help out no matter what! You’re shipping is extremely fast as well too. It’s quite amazing. Actually I thought I’d have to wait a week 10 days. My new launcher shows up in three had an issue with a part in a old launcher
Recently definitely out of warranty still, you guys did not hesitate to send me the piece which I was overly grateful for and because of it, I stay loyal to companies dad do business like that so now I’m the proud owner of the new CL. I could go on and on and on through text email phone call customer service is beyond 10 out of 10 your employees really make byrna the company it is. They deal with the general Public all the time, and if everyone gets treated the way I have over the years all your customers feel like royalty. I texted about my Cl I got an immediate and quick response. Everything perfect but I had to add the rest because this one interaction doesn’t tell the true story about how amazing all my experiences with customer service have been.

Sounds good on paper . . . .

I was impressed with the idea of the Byrna gun but, in practice, it was pretty disappointing. I started carrying it concealed instead of my Sig P365 because I'm 73 years old and I liked the idea of having a "non-lethal" option. However, after carrying it for a few weeks, I noticed that it started "leaking" the pepper spray from the magazine. Every time I picked it up I'd start sneezing and coughing. When I finally took out the magazine it was covered with white powder and, while choking and sneezing, I had to run the whole gun under the faucet to clean the powder out from all the nooks and crannies of the gun. Not cool . . .
Plus, when I tried to shoot the "training" ammo, even though I had put a new CO2 cartridge in it a few weeks before, even though I hadn't shot it in the meantime, it was empty of CO2 so I realized that it's really not a reliable method of self defense, after all.

One of the most important things that sets Byrna’s handheld launchers apart from the competition is Byrna’s patented “pull-pierce” technology. This enables the Byrna launcher to both pierce the CO2 and fire the projectile with the first pull of the trigger.

Why is this important? It is important because it allows your Byrna to sit for days, weeks, months or even years and still be ready to fire on the first pull of the trigger. Most other launchers pierce the CO2 cylinder when it is loaded. Once pierced, the CO2 will start to leak out, fully discharging over the next 24 to 48 hours, leaving the launcher inoperable. The alternative is not to load the CO2 until it is needed, however, in that case, the launcher will not be ready to use when it is needed. It is like carrying a gun without bullets in the magazine.

With the Byrna, the installed CO2 cylinder is not punctured until the trigger is pulled. This means you can leave your launcher fully loaded knowing that it will be ready to fire when needed on the very first pull of the trigger.



Our chemical projectiles are the best on the market. Unfortunately, with ALL chemical projectiles, there is always a slight risk of the projectiles cracking in the magazine or launcher. The chemical rounds have to be fragile or they would never break when hitting an assailant but also need to be strong enough to survive being fired from the launcher.

Exposing any chemical projectiles to excess impact, vibration, extreme temperature conditions, or even overhandling the projectiles could potentially cause them to crack or break. Please also note we do not recommend a 5 +1 or 7 + 1 setup where six or eight total rounds are in the launcher. The launcher is designed to hold 5/7 rounds. Although the extra 6th/8th round will sometimes fit in the launcher, this will cause the launcher to jam and can cause the projectiles to rupture when stored, carried, or fired.

Our chemical projectiles are preferred by many Law Enforcement Agencies and Private Security Companies due to their high quality and durability. We now manufacture our projectiles in house to have even more control over quality. We have made them stronger to survive the shot but also easier to break when they strike a target while having a better dispersion pattern of the chemical irritants due to the improved shell design.

Superb Customer Service

I spoke with Maria today and she went above and beyond to answer all my questions regarding the new CL and accessories. She was so very kind and patient with this 76 year old 😊. I’ve purchased many Byrna’s since 2019 or 2020. And have been able to bless family members and friends with these for their safety. Literally any time over the years that I have needed to call….the customer service is absolutely outstanding in every way. All personnel are always kind, patient, helpful, respectful, gracious, and knowledgeable about all products.

Byrna employees are friendly, courteous, helpful, and speedy. All products are delivered in a speedy manner also and arrive at their destination in perfect order. Their products are top quality.
