Unsafe car and lies

Update - as expected, their response dances around the fact that they sold an unsafe car and that the inspection report was not accurate. Fluids were signed off on when they shouldn’t have been. No acknowledgement or apology for the safety risk or the damage that has been done to my car has been offered. It’s about more than the money, Canada drives. Ethics.

______

The experience for getting my car was fantastic. The delivery person was amazing.

However, when it arrived I realized there was no evidence of a recent oil change in the last 12-15000km. I assumed that must just be a mistake and after contacting them I found it to be true, they did no maintenance. However, the mechanic signed off as good on all fluids.

I recently found out my oil was absolutely filthy - a look at it would have known it had not been maintained. Further looking found that my brake fluid was in a dangerous state of being too high in moisture and flagged a warning for my safety. I had no choice but to fix these issues.

My filters were also very filthy and needing to be changed, they were identified as clean in the mechanics report.

When I initially contacted about the oil change I was told I had to bring it in to an inspection at their mechanic. Obviously, having a received a report full of lies I would have no reason to trust a mechanic selected by them. I chose to take it to my own for my own safety so they are not coving their issues because I fixed something that was putting my life in danger instead of taking it back to their chosen mechanics that issued a report full of lies. It is blatantly clear that nothing on the initial mechanics report was actually checked when it was signed off on or these clear issues would have been noticed.

I am now left afraid for what this has done to my car and absolutely appalled by this company and their lack of support.

I know they will respond to this stating they offered me options, but the option was an opinion from a mechanic that had already listed lies on the initial report. Not much of an option. I’m aware they will leave a long paragraph trying to cover up what they have done to me and my car and attempt to make the public believe they did nothing wrong. I’m more than happy to share the correspondence that proves otherwise.

They have already stated they will not be reimbursing me for any part of the bill since I took action on my own safety with my own mechanic, but if I warn at least 1 person not to trust this company, I’m happy.

Hi Jani,

We are sorry to hear your experience was anything less than positive, customer service is our top priority and we would like the opportunity to address your concerns. We looked into your application with us and reviewed your concerns with the customer relations team that was assisting you.

When you initially contacted us about the oil life on your vehicle, our customer relations agent advised you that our mechanics inspect the oil life and require a minimum of 50% oil life left on your vehicle for it to pass. Although the records of the oil changes were not available for your vehicle, our mechanics do check the oil life when completing the vehicle inspection. Regarding the concern relating to your vehicle's filters, upon our initial inspection, our mechanics confirm the filters are in good working condition and that they are not affecting the safety and integrity of the vehicle, however, our team was happy to have your concerns relating to this and the brake fluid checked at our partnered mechanic shop for your peace of mind. When you brought your concerns up with our team, the agent assisting you recommended you take your vehicle into our partnered shop to have your concerns looked into and your vehicle diagnosed. The shops we recommend and that we are partnered with are third-party mechanic shops in various areas nationwide, these third-party mechanic shops are separate from the initial reconditioning and inspection mechanics that we utilize before delivery. We have many partnered mechanic shops nationwide allowing us to offer assistance without our customers needing to travel a long distance to have a vehicle looked at.

Unfortunately, you declined our offer to utilize one of our partnered shops in your area to have the diagnosis completed. Rather, you took your vehicle into your preferred mechanic shop and approved the work without sending us the inspection, diagnosis, and report findings. Our warranty coverage is unable to cover the cost of repairs if the work is completed without Canada Drives' prior consent. Our warranty policy requires customers to obtain authorization from Canada Drives before any diagnosis or repair is completed on the vehicle. At this time we are unable to offer coverage on the repairs as the work has already been completed, if you would like additional information on our warranty policy please visit www.canadadrives.ca/warranty to view our full warranty policy.

If you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us directly and we would be happy to assist you.

Thank you,

I would like to buy a car but I am…

I would like to buy a car but I am honestly little scared. I had a bad experience from one of their customer service employee in 2019. I was a new student in canada at that time. I registered. Then I was constantly getting messages. one day I received a call when I was in my class. By mistake i picked up the call to hide it my professor and hung up. Later I received an upsetting message from him saying that he is going to hit my credit since I hung up his call. He also said some other upsetting things. I know its late to post this review. But if this helps anyone, I am glad

Recently I checked out the website since I heard they don't hit credit for pre approval. It is true. But I still have this credit hit in my history from 2019. Thats why I posted this review.

Hi Athira,

We are sorry to hear your experience was anything less than positive, customer service is our top priority and we would like the opportunity to address your concerns. We tried searching our database for the application you completed with us back in 2019, we believe the interaction you mentioned in your review may have been with one of our partnered dealerships and not with a Canada Drives agent. We would like the opportunity to look into this further, please feel free to reach out to us with the approximate date you applied for a vehicle in 2019, as well as any additional details you may have relating to this interaction.

If you have any additional comments or concerns please feel free to reach out to me directly.

Very disappointed and will not trust them again, as their website gave me a price, but when their representative called me, he gave me a different price, and after agreeing on that price and submitting everything to them I was told that they will not buy my car. Do not provide them with any information unless they provide you with a written agreement first. Do not trust them.

Hi George,

Customer service is very important to us and we are sorry to hear your experience was anything less than positive. We are constantly working towards ensuring our pricing engine is as accurate as possible. The value we provide on our online calculator is based on many factors such as location, Blackbook value, condition, market, demand, and the assumption that the information you have provided about your vehicle is correct. Our offers are valid for 7 days, however, all vehicles are manually reviewed for accuracy and the value is subject to change. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We were not able to find your application on file with the information you provided, please feel free to reach out to us with your full name, and the phone number you applied with, and we would be happy to look into this matter further. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me directly.

Hoqwash promises

Canada drives is a company that is only focused on making sales at the detriment of the customer's satisfaction. I can not believe that a car I got barely 2 months ago developed huge faults that is currently costing me thousands of dollars. When I noted my displeasure and the need for Cana drives to take up the responsibility, it was ignored. I'll be reporting my ugly experience in details on google review for other buyers to be aware of the dangers of dealing with an online dealership like Canada drives. Zero integrity

I recently sold my car to Canada Drives…

I recently sold my car to Canada Drives and had an overall terrible experience. I filled out the online form and received my quote for my vehicle. I fully disclosed the crack on my windshield, as well as the age of the tires and how they will need to be replaced. I was contacted my Mohammed Sayed, who also goes by ‘Mo’. Mo called me and went over the condition of my vehicle and at this time the windshield crack and the tire conditions were disclosed again. Mo let me know due to the crack, he was going to deduct $300 from my quote I received online. Everything was fine and I agreed that was fair. We went on to schedule a pick up (which I paid $100 for. FYI previously they would pay YOU $200 to drive the car to their lot. I know this because my family member also sold his car to Canada Drives earlier this year.) Mo was quite pushy that I should drive it to them, but I didn’t want to commute that far and I paid the $100 for the driver to pick it up. Shout out to the driver Shaun Haddon! He was absolutely amazing and was the only non-scammy part about my experience with Canada Drives. Shaun test drove the car and came back and told me the guys at the Canada Drives office are claiming I did not disclose the cracked windshield. Mo called me saying I did not disclose this, but once I reminded him of our conversation of him deducting the $300 he suddenly seemed to remember and back peddled saying he thought it was a chip they could repair. For $300??? They told the driver the deal was off and to leave. The second the threatened to leave my review, they decided to take the car?? Canada drives is now trying to contact me to ‘ask me questions’ after the bill of sale has been signed and everything has been transferred. I refuse to do anything over call with these guys as they can not be trusted on their word and there is a severe lack of communication and morals on their back end. Terribly ran and I will not recommend these guys to anyone. Sell your car to someone else and avoid your time (and money) being wasted.

Hi Shealyn,

We are sorry to hear your experience was anything less than positive, customer service is our top priority and we would like the opportunity to address your concerns. We investigated your concerns and reviewed your communication with our purchasing team.

When you initially applied with us our team provided you with an offer based on the disclosed damages you provided us on your vehicle. Upon pick-up of your vehicle, our driver confirmed the damages on your vehicle with our purchasing team to ensure all damages were disclosed and the proper deductions were made based on the work required on your vehicle. Unfortunately, after our team received your vehicle in our lot, our mechanics noted a leak in the rear differential that was not disclosed to us in the sale. Our purchasing manager reached out to you to better understand the mechanical condition as this leak was not reported to us. We require all material damage to be disclosed before the sale is finalized and as this leak was not disclosed to our team the offer amount we provided did not properly reflect the condition of the vehicle. Our purchasing team tried working with you to understand the vehicle's mechanical condition, as a gesture of goodwill we proceeded with the original offer, and no adjustments were made on the basis of the undisclosed mechanical damage on your vehicle. Our team worked diligently to rectify your concerns and we have agreed to proceed with the original offer in hopes of bettering your experience with us. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

If you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me directly.

Thank you,

My New Ride....

The experience was new for me since I am a touchy/feely buyer. Your customer service made the process with little to no anxiety. They were able to provide additional pictures and video's of specific areas I requested to see, and my wishes were fulfilled. The decision making process became a easy one. The hand off went smooth as possible considering at the time of pickup there were several transactions occurring at the same time, never the less. My transaction went well and I was off with my new ride. My new ride was better than I expected, therefore I was very happy with my decision. Thanks again Canada Drives...
