I would never recommend this location…

I would never recommend this location to anyone!!!!

I brought my vehicle to Canadian Tire (400 Dundas St E, Oakville, ON) on October 25, 2025, for a simple tire change — and it turned into one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a business.

While my car was in their care, one of their employees damaged it. Instead of taking responsibility, the staff didn’t properly inspect the vehicle and even told me it was drivable — when the door couldn’t even close properly and there was a strong draft coming in.

It took over two weeks for my vehicle to even be sent to a repair shop. During that time, I had to borrow a car out of pocket, and Canadian Tire refused to provide a rental even though the damage and delay were entirely their fault.

To make matters worse, when I went back to the store to ask to see the video footage, the general manager refused to show or send it to me and told me not to threaten him — something I found extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.

I can’t help but feel that I was treated this way because I am a Black woman. I made it clear that if I’m shown the video and it proves me wrong, I’ll accept that — but I know I didn’t hit my car. It’s possible something or someone hit it while it was parked, but I deserve the right to see the truth.

The lack of accountability, delay, and dismissive behavior from management were beyond unacceptable.

Auto service department 0/10

The auto service department at this location is as bad as I have ever seen. The tire shop is disorganized, kept my car for 3 days (not the one indicated) and ultimately I took my tires to another shop. The manager Henry was unreasonable, and an absolute nightmare to deal with. I feel terrible for the front end staff that are wonderful to deal with as they wear the brunt of the shops incompetence. If I were the owner of this location, I would want to know how badly the shop is failing my loyal customers

Snow tire with very unwell behave

I felt very disappointed with Canadian Tire.
Last month, I booked snow tires in advance for today. The total cost was $1171, and I went today to get the tires changed.

But before I even got to finish, they said some parts were missed and asked me to sign a new agreement for $1442. Because of the language barrier, I couldn’t strongly argue. They also added a $369 labor cost just for changing the tires.

I never expected such behavior from a well-known company.
This happened in Barrie, Ontario.

Never Again I Will Use Canadian Tire…

Never Again I Will Use Canadian Tire Services!

I went to the Canadian Tire store in Kelowna, BC, for a simple front wheel alignment. They took my vehicle into the shop and kept it on the hoist for 3–4 hours. After all that time, they told me that my 14-year-old Toyota truck was “not qualified” for a wheel alignment.

Instead, they charged me $130 for a vehicle inspection that I never requested. Along with that, they gave me a long list of recommended repairs that supposedly needed to be done before they could perform a basic alignment. The list included things like an oil and filter change, wiper replacement, and headlight replacement—items that have nothing to do with a front wheel alignment.

The total cost of their recommended work came to almost $6,000. To me, this feels like a scam. Anyone who owns a 14-year-old truck knows it will need maintenance—but that wasn’t what I came in for.

In the end, I wasted four hours of my time and $130 without getting the service I actually requested.

Poor Credit Card Service Experience

I experienced one of my worst customer service experiences in Canada with them. I applied for their credit card online, and it took over a month and a week for the first card to arrive. By the time it did, it was already deactivated because, after many calls from me, they had issued a second card through another service to avoid a strike.

However, the second card still hasn’t arrived even after several weeks, and the first one is completely useless. Their solution actually became a new problem. It’s honestly ridiculous — I was just trying to buy something from them!

In-store, they keep promoting their credit card to encourage sales, but when it comes to support, there’s none. There’s no online feature to track the card, and every time I call to ask for an update — after a long wait — the only response I get is, “You just have to wait.”

We brought our truck in for brakes

We brought our truck in for brakes, 5 hours , we were told a couple hours, then when ready, saw they disconnected our back up camera and broke the clips to attrach, another 45 minutes to fix , then we go into truck, mirror is not proper, tried to adjust and it fell off! Why did they touch the camera anyway! Last time we go there. We have been loyal customers for many years, but now 8 hours of our life gone, ridiculous

My experience at Canadian Tire Yorkton

I brought my truck from Ontario to Saskatchewan. It had just passed Ontario’s strict safety inspection with zero issues. The only reason I needed another inspection was because it came from out of province.

When I took it to Canadian Tire Yorkton, they failed it over small things like windshield wipers that were only about a month old. Two staff behind the counter told me to “throw my truck in the scrap yard.” That was really disrespectful, especially for a vehicle that runs great and looks almost new.

When I got it back, one lug nut was missing — it was there when I dropped it off. They told me I had to buy a full pack just to replace one. When I spoke to the manager, she didn’t apologize. She cut me off and said, “We’re human, we’re allowed to make mistakes,” but never fixed the issue.

They also dragged SGI into it, which made things worse and cost me more. I have recordings and receipts that back everything up.

If you’re thinking about doing an inspection there, just know what you’re walking into.

I stopped taking my car to Canadian Tire Milton…

I stopped taking my car to Canadian Tire Milton because they were over-charging me for brakes. Their brake jobs were only lasting me 22,000 kms. Over the last 70,000 kms they charged me over $4,300. When I complained to head office they told me there was nothing they can do about it because each location is independently owned. There are a number of highly reviewed mechanics in Milton, that I found through a google search, so I will start taking my car elsewhere.

I’ve visited the Petro-Canada at the Canadian Tire in Midland several times, and I’ve noticed a couple of recurring issues. Often, there’s no paper in the pumps, which means you have to go inside to get a receipt. Additionally, the staff inside, while not always unfriendly, could certainly benefit from a bit more professionalism and a warmer attitude. I hope these aspects can be improved to make the experience better for customers.

Did so, waited 2 weeks for response, none received. Called again, told had to contact CT as it's their issue achumidreturns.com, wouldn't take submission as already on file. Called their 1-855-262-0005, just starts the cycle over again. So you can't actually reach CT customer support!!!!

I bought an expandable hose in June 2025, didn't keep the receipt, and unfortunately it broke. Called Canadian Tire about this, assured me that they were able to find my receipt in their system with my credit card info, and that they would be able to exchange for a brand new one. Dealing with Canadian tire is always positive experience, their employees are experienced and friendly and of coarse this is a CANADIAN COMPANY that we should totally support.

Canada Tire scams an elderly man

Good morning, Mr. Greg Hicks, President and Chief Executive Officer My father is an 80-year-old man. The most honest man I have ever known. Canadian Tire told him he had a warranty on his tires, the reason for having service done. This is what happened to him My 80+ old father had a bad experience with Canadian Tire in Richmond Hill. They wanted to scam him, charging him $5000 to fix his Nissan Rogue/car. Checking with two other mechanic shops, the work totalled 1000+. His car drove well after having the service completed, not at Canadian Tire. He had originally purchased his tires from Canadian Tire last year, but found out from his next-door neighbour that all the threads were gone, the tire was bald, the Lincoln head was gone, uneven wear patterns, the edges were gone, unfit to drive, and he could have ended up in a major accident. I convinced my father that the Canadian Tire on Rison and Taunting were genuine. We met with Richard, who seemed sincere. He said, based on the terrible experience and circumstance my father had had, he would reduce the price on the new tires, discount our total and with the understanding that the tires were under warranty. My father wanted the warranty because he did not want the problem of not having a warranty on the bald tires to repeat itself. He was content to know that he was in good hands. Upon returning to pick up and pay for the car, my father was informed that extra work had been done and a new contract with a different price that cost $1700+ (instead of $1500 minus additional discount). We showed him the original contract with no avail. When we attempted to advocate for ourselves, he talked down to us and threatened to call the police, insisting that we were raising our voices. He then decided to honour the original contract, but with no warranty. We had Canadian Tire do the job solely because of the warranty; we did not want what happened with the tires to repeat itself, and now he had taken off the warranty. Richard, who promised to take care of my dad, instead coerced and manipulated the situation. I left with my father teary-eyed, and blamed myself because I convinced my dad that this Canadian Tire was different. My 80+ father was also tearing, never felt so cheated, conned and lied to. All we wanted was honesty, fair treatment, but we were rather made to feel worse. Mr. Hicks if this had happened to me, I would have probably just forget about it but my father is an honest man, a past Naval officer an outstanding characteristics and should not have been disrespected in this manner. Made to feel like a dishonest man. I am so disappointed and worse of all I recommended this Canadian Tire. Joseph

Pretty weird to come across such a low…

Pretty weird to come across such a low score for a company like this which is Canada-wide. I've been going to Canadian Tire for many years for kids bikes, fans, filters for humidifiers, bbq accessories, batteries, wipers, sometimes tires and rims, headlamps, bulbs, cleaning products, respirators for working with gases, tools, gardening supplies, I mean...that's a lot of different products. I don't recall ever having glaring issues with shopping in person, or online, and certainly not with personnel. Just wanted to drop a review to note this. Just yesterday I was in for a RIV inspection, it was timely and the service rep was very courteous.

Why we choose not to shop at Canadian Tire

The customer service at any Canadian Tire store has been abominable! The customer service representatives yawn when you are asking them for help, they demand the product number from you even after you have shown them the product on their website, and if a Canadian Tire store calls another store to ask if a product is available on the shop floor, they put you on hold and keep transferring the line to different people after telling you they will look for it on the shop floor. So if one store gives another store the telephone-merry go around, what would they do to a simple customer who has called in for product number information? This merry go-round that the Hey 7 and Dufferin store gave the Yonge and Steeles store lasted for one hour. How long of a merry go around would they give to a simple customer. Then we called the complaint line, and realizing that we were fed up being pushed around by Canadian Tire ans would not mind spending money on Amazon just to save our time, our gas, the wear and tear on our vehicle and to save our nerves which were torn to shreds by the horrible service we received for 2 long hours, he put the phone down. So no apology, no attempt at trying to redress the situation, just a blank wall of silence.
Instead of giving one star, if I could give zero stars, I would.
I do not wish Canadian Tire on any person.

I had to call them to find out what was going on. They said it was an emergency and they couldn’t come. I asked why wasn’t I notified it was too busy.

Don’t buy Tire Warranty

If I could, I would gave them “0” star review for Tire repair. They push people to buy warranty for Tire Care Guarantee. I bought replacement advantage, which actually sucks. I would suggest never buy their tire warranty. It’s a scam nothing else. I bought full coverage for my 4 tire installed. My service is supposed to be free. But when I bring my car to repair the nail. They are charging me for fixing it. Even though the warranty replacement says it is free. Store is at 1608 The Queensway, Toronto, Ontario. I will also report this to consumer rights department of Ontario.

I bought 3 car batteries there with last 5 years. None of them work . Yesterday and today I went to ask for help with one that is not even 1 year old and it was already exchanged around March 2025 . They charge it yesterday to 12.5 v and this morning , while the battery was still in the back sit of my car , was 12.0 . Drove again from Palmer Rapids to Renfrew ( about 100km ). The manager of the automotive section told me that battery is good but I don't drive enough .
This is the Renfrew , Ontario store .
It use to be my favourite chain . It suck since after the Covid . DO NOT BUY CANADIAN TIRE JUNK ! Specially batteries !

Disappointing Experience with Canadian Tire's Online Order and Return Process

I recently placed an online order with Canadian Tire for two thermal tops, opting for same-day delivery and paying the additional shipping cost and reusable bag fee. While the order arrived on time, I was surprised to find that I had received thermal bottoms instead of tops.

After getting over my disappointment, I contacted Canadian Tire's customer support to see if there was something that could be done. I was initially disconnected after being transferred to retail support (which was even more frustrating). I then visited my local Canadian Tire store to see if they could assist me with an exchange, but they were unable to help due to a discrepancy in the product code on the receipt. They suggested that I could purchase the correct items and return the incorrect ones at a later date, which wasn't a satisfactory solution for me.

The next day (October 7), I contacted customer support again and was told that each Canadian Tire store is independently run and they cannot always accept returns if they are from different stores. A case was opened, and I was offered a prepaid waybill to return the incorrect items. However, I was disappointed to learn that there was no straightforward way to exchange the items without having to visit the store where they were originally shipped from. The intention of ordering the items online and doing same day delivery was to avoid having to go to a Canadian Tire while still being able to get my items.

While the customer service representatives I spoke with were helpful, I feel that the situation was not handled properly. As a customer, it's frustrating to have to deal with the consequences of an error that was solely the company's responsibility. I believe that Canadian Tire should have a more streamlined process in place for handling mistakes like this, especially when they occur with online orders.

Overall, my experience with Canadian Tire's online store and return process has been disappointing. While I appreciate the efforts of the customer service team, I hope that the company will take steps to improve their processes and make it easier for customers to resolve issues like this in the future.

The manager Casey was excellent in helping me with a cracked pressure washer. I am a senior and for some reason I misplaced the receipt. He told me to bring it back and he would exchange it. I was so happy and even after I had a fall while trying to check to found the receipt and not finding it. I went back to Canadian Tire with my tenant the next day even though I was in pain and bruised from the fall.
I was so impressed by Casey and the Customer Service department - Thank you for your kindness in this matter. I will buy from you again. Thank you. From an elderly woman- 70 years old
