capital one shopping browser extension $ bonus offer : don't waste your time

I completed all of the criteria required, AND THEIR ARE A LOT OF CRITERIA, to receive a $40 bonus for installing their Capital One browser extension. I did not receive any notification or provided any evidence or assurance that my completed process was successful. Upon completing the first eligible, required purchase within the specified time frame, I accessed my account "shopping trips" and all other links, but it shows no evidence of any activity or acknowledgement. Upon emailing their 'support team' requesting a phone call to discuss the situation, I only received completely inefficient, and ineffective artificial intelligence-like replies and told that phone support is not available. In addition to the above poor experience, I also activated a 4% cashback E-bay offer, and I was only awarded 1%.
Capital One shopping and the browser extension promotion is a loser. I suggest don't waste your time on it.

Update

Just an update to my issue (posted about it back in August - account hacked $373 in gift cards stolen) - after many emails and eventually filing a complaint with my state's attorney generals office, nothing has been resolved. They are not even responding to the attorney general's emails. Do not do business with this company!

I did everything that was required to…

I did everything that was required to earn a reward but did not even receive a response despite numerous requests for comment or explanation. Their support is non-existent. Calls to CapitalOne suggests that they are unrelated to CapitalOneShopping. How very interesting and convenient. This is a scam operation and I recommend avoiding it at all costs.

Absolute trash app

Absolute trash app. You never get your rewards no matter how much you follow the fine print. And customer service is non existent. I literally received the same canned response over and over with no help except to say wait longer. Not worth the effort. Use a different rewards app.

Don't mistake it for cash back

At first, it seems like the perfect service: they almost always have better deals than other services.

However, the issue is it is not real "cash back." When you sign up, it looks like there are plenty of great options to get your rewards via gift cards but as your balance increases, they will start only giving you useless cards. When I had the option to cash out via my local supermarket, it made sense but I learned that you are at their whim and they will cut the options to basically useless gift cards that they bought for 75% off if you have more than $50 in rewards. You don't have any recourse. At the end of the day, getting 5% cash back via Rakuten or a service that pays directly is worth more than 30% cash back redeemable only in Build A Bear workshop gift cards.

Scam

Capital One Shopping removed about $300 in rewards from my account and now shows a negative balance. Support insists my purchases were canceled (they weren’t—I used all the experiences I booked) and wants me to submit all receipts. This has been frustrating and time-consuming, so I do not recommend the service.

Bad user experience

Bad user experience. The “promise” to actual rewards acquired ratio feels like $100 to $0. feels like a waste of time more than anything. Feels like they are stealing my data for free. Undownloading because not worth it.

Total scam

Amazing how they say they'll pay out rewards, but then the rewards suddenly get reversed for no reason. Then Customer Service, if you can reach them, tells you that the terms allow them to take away rewards for any reason. One day my credit is $350, the next day it's $43, with no explanation. Then they gave me some credit to appear to help out, but suddenly it's all gone again and now I'm in the negative. It's happened so many times at this point that I'll stop using it completely.

Same as others; SCAMMERS!

Same as others; absolute scammers!

I received an offer of £10 for installing this extension, which I did and logged in straight away, so was surprised when nothing showed as pending.

I IMMEDIATELY emailed support about this, as it was a very bad initial experience.

After a farce going back and forth, they at least confirmed the following:

"Looks like you’re on track to receive the bonus! The bonus will typically be applied to your account within 30 days after you satisfy the offer requirements. Please note, uninstalling the extension before the bonus issues can prevent you from earning the bonus."

So, I had it in writing, I was going to get this reward, but annoyingly had to wait another 30 days.

When the 30 day passed, and no £10 bonus credit was applied, I emailed them to chase it.

Since then, I a just getting copy and paste responses, now saying I am not eligible. I sent them the above, where they confirmed I will get it in 30 das, and they just reply with the same copy and paste jobbos.

Just an absolute scam. Reporting to the FCA, I suggest others do too!

Simply find the form by doing a web search of "fca report a scam"

Seems to not function properly

Seems to not function properly. I was greeted with an offer to redeem, which was some cash back while signing up for Ancestry.com. After doing so, I was skeptical, took screen shots of each step I completed, thought the offer of 3% cash back seemed too good to be true. I hit the "Activate" button on the COS site, it redirected me to Ancestry, I checked out, then Capital One's site hit me with "Sorry! You used another coupon site" or some bull like that. I tried to get support, there is no avenue for support that won't take a full lunch break to resolve/get to talk to a human about. Capital One as a bank has been great to me but as a shopping service it currently is awful, though not necessarily a scam, is not intuitive and I would not recommend it.

I'm unable to access my account and redeem my cashback

I've been using Capital One Shopping for several months. Three days ago, when I tried to access the app, it said my account had been disconnected from this device. I tried accessing it again in every way, but to no avail. I tried accessing it from another phone and from my computer. I sent an email to customer service (but it takes four days to get a response). I have cashback to redeem, but I'm unable to access my account to withdraw it.

I am a long time Capital One cardholder…

I am a long time Capital One cardholder and am very knowledgeable utilizing the offers sent to me. However, there are times when their system encounters glitches where they do not acknowledge a purchase and thus refuse to issue the rewards earned. There is no phone number to call as per the Capital One quicksilver credit card. I have emailed and sent supporting documentation and still can not resolve the issue. Capital One should figure out a way not to insult their cardholders and provide service for their shopping rewards!!!!! Will be searching for a replacement card!!!

Reward Offer Not Honored, NOT Worth it!

After receiving numerous emails from Capital One offering cash rewards for installing their browser extension, I finally decided to try it. I clicked on the link they sent offering a $45 bonus if I installed their extension for Firefox. I followed their instructions to the letter, figuring they would use any excuse to not honor the offer. Sure enough, after almost two months I contacted them to complain that I had not received anything. They responded with a list of potential reasons of why I was not eligible for the offer. NONE of the reasons applied to me. I immediately deleted the extension. Just as I suspected, this is a scam and absolutely NOT worth the security risks of installing it on your computer.

Capital One Shopping: The Cashback App That Forgets You Exist

I’ve been using various cashback apps for over 6 years, and Capital One Shopping is by far the worst. Calling their customer service “bad” would be a compliment—because for that, there actually has to be customer service.
They advertise flashy offers like “Get $75 back when you sign up for electric service,” but it’s been over a year and that credit has never shown up in my account. I’ve tried reaching out multiple times, and the silence is unreal.
Honestly, I have no idea why Capital One even bought this company. It feels completely abandoned. If you’re looking for a reliable cashback app, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this one.
Additionally, I currently see $145 pending in my account, but at this point, I’ve lost all confidence that it will ever be paid out. Because of this experience, I’m seriously considering closing all of my Capital One accounts altogether.

I'm extremely disappointed and…

I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated with the Capital One Shopping extension. They frequently send emails promoting cashback offers for websites I've visited, luring users to make purchases with the promise of rewards — only to later deny the cashback.

This feels deceptive. Capital One Shopping clearly benefits from the transactions, yet they consistently find reasons not to honor the cashback. I've gone back and forth with their support agents, but every time they come up with a different excuse. The most recent response claimed that I "did not complete the process within the Capital One Shopping system" — even though I activated the cashback through their email, clicked through, and completed the purchase.

Their emails literally state, "One click is all it takes to save." Well, I clicked, I bought, and I expect to receive the cashback I was promised.

This pattern of behavior is unacceptable. It’s hard not to see it as a deliberate scheme to profit while avoiding payouts to users. I sincerely hope someone holds them accountable. If there’s ever a class action lawsuit against Capital One Shopping, I would absolutely join. This isn’t the first time Capital One has faced scrutiny — they’ve already agreed to a $425 million settlement over misleading practices related to their 360 Savings Account.

Enough is enough. They need to be held accountable.

Failure to Payout or Honor Offers - Terrible Customer Service

Failure to Payout or Honor Offers - Terrible Customer Service

Failure to Payout or Honor Offers - Terrible Customer Service

I’ve been a huge fan of Capital One Shopping for the past year or so and pretty much all of my purchases have started to flood through this site. Getting 10-45% back on hundreds of purchases really adds up! That said, this is only when it actually registers and they honor it.

I meticulously track my purchases with screenshots at every checkout and sporadically review to make sure I’ve received the correct rewards on everything. This is rarely the case. In the past I would reach out to customer service and provide the screenshots of checkout in addition to the receipts and they would honor it. Recently, they have been refusing. I have even provided them screen recording videos of my checkout process and they say I either navigated away from the webpage or that I never activated it. Seriously?? To make things worse, if you notice something doesn’t show up after checkout, they won’t help you until 30 days have passed. Well, return windows for most goods are 30 days. So by the time you find out if you did or didn’t qualify for the rewards (and if their customer service is going to help you or not), you are now stuck with that item. This is fraud and I warn anyone going to make a purchase solely because of good cash back to highly question that decision, because maybe 50% of the time it fails to actually register and pay out.

On top of all of that, your redemption offers for rewards are quite limited and have gone far downhill recently. Used to have Lowe’s, Home Depot, sometimes Walmart or even Target. Now, the only thing worth it to me is eBay, and even then it isn’t always available and I’m afraid it’ll get taken away with everything else.

I’ve recently started using Rakuten more. The cash back is lower, but I’ve never had it miss a single transaction. I’ll take a guaranteed 10% over a “maybe 20%” any day. Their rewards are also redeemable for cash and not randomly changing gift cards to places like 1-800 Flowers…

As a customer, I am incredibly frustrated and don’t know what to do. I have over $600 worth in rewards they are refusing to honor. There’s no phone number to call, the customer service reps via email are no help and keep copying and pasting the same message blaming me when it is their system that failed. I also can’t return the items (had to wait 30 days to contact support). This is further frustrating as the cash back deal was justification on the purchase in some of the cases.

Capital One, if you read this please fix your system and please support your clients. There’s a reason you have a 1.3 star rating on Trustpilot. Thats hundreds of your customers you have lied to, failed, and stolen from.
