Hidden charges
When we arrived at the Airport we were told that the Ryanair price shown on their website was the deposit only! (I went back and looked and it doesn’t say deposit only) So the cost went from about £90 to £400 it’s a rip off. Also the flight was late and so we got a €40 late pick up charge.
Do not hire a car through Ryanair
Do not hire a car through Ryanair. My booking was rejected but they did not tell me. Arrived Cork Airport late at night, no hire desk had heard of me. So stressful. Book direct with a carhire company.
Scam
Scam, avoid at all costs.
I prepaid for a booking that I never saw or got any email on. Now I am in a hell loop trying to get a refund
Don't.... and avoid DRIVALIA at all costs
If booking your hire car via RyanAir ensure that you are not going to be booked through to DRIVALIA -
the headline price when booking on line via Ryan Air looked good -
however.... when you come to collect the vehicle you are asked whether you need the additional insurance - and if you answer no you have to provide a credit (NB not debit) card - I have x 3 Visa cards, one of which has a £6,000 per transaction limit, but none of these were adequate - so effectively you HAVE to buy their supplementary insurance.
I am not alone - of the x4 people in the office at the same time as me we ALL had the same problem - one lady (who I would have guessed to be about 70 years old) refused to pay and left in to an awful storm to catch the bus to the better known car renters.
I regularly rent cars (and holiday homes and bicycles) all over the world and am perfectly used to using my card to guarantee the deposit - it's always worked.
I will certainly never return to Drivalia or book another hire car via RyanAir
Incidentally I booked a manual and got an automatic - a horrible MG that misted up any time the an was not set on full blast. And they set us of with a 1/4 tank - what sort of car hire Co cant be bothered to fill the tank?!
Never again use Ryanair for car-hire
I ordered and paid for a rental car through Ryanair, but I didn’t receive a voucher. When I asked Ryanair for one, the reply was that I needed to contact the service provider directly. The email contained a non-functioning link to Europcar. Nothing else.
Absolute DISGRACE...
Absolute DISGRACE...
Currently sat on a bus instead of in my prepaid rental car. Ryanair website clearly states 'no hidden charges', however, presented with over 200 euro additional mandatory fees at Firefly car hire in Malaga Airport. These charges were unexpected and unaffordable. Both Firefly and Ryanair have refused to refund my original rental payment. How is that ok???? I'm left having to change my holiday plans completely and I've paid for the privilege!! Absolutely shameful service and deeply misleading advertising which will be reported to the Advertising Standards Authority
Awful
Awful. I was offloaded from my flight making me too late to collect my hire care. Ryanair advised my to make a further booking and my original booking would be refunded . After 2 months of chasing I realise it was just a scam. Terrible customer service… never again
Extremely poor service
Extremely poor service!
I made pre-paid reservation through Ryanair and week after returning the car Firefly charged me 4 times the price I've already paid for insurance I never agreed to pay and for many other taxes that I weren't aware I have to pay later!
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE
SCAM AVOID Ryanair Car Hire
On 9 Sep 2023 I paid £252.92 to Ryanair for car hire including insurance for my trip to Lithuania 13-24 Oct (11 days). When I went to collect the car on 13 Oct they said I must provide an International Driving Permit IDP or pay an extra EUR 400.00 for their insurance, or cancel for a refund, I do not have an IDP so i left without taking the car and later that day (after hireing a car from someone else without needing to provide an IDP) I phoned to cancel the car hire for a refund. Ryanair has only refunded the cost of insurance at £62.97 and withheld the remaining £190.35 as a ‘cancellation fee’. The gov.uk website says for Lithuania ‘You do not need an IDP to drive here for periods up to 6 months’. I was lied to a mislead to try and force me to buy extra insurance that I did not need. During 16 & 17 Oct I asked Ryanair Customer Service to refund the remaining £190.35 but they refuse and have stopped responding.
Scammers don’t book with Ryan air we…

DON'T book a car with rayanair
DON'T book a car with rayanair
We booked and paid rayanair for a car with clickrent, when we arrived there was no courtesy coach, so we got a lift to the clickrent ibiza they told us their computers were down, we didn't get the car and when we inquired about a refund they said we had to deal with rayanair. We contacted rayanair and they told us to deal directly with clickrent .So we've paid for a car and extra insurance and got nothing. The booking ref.CR1191853Z.
Beware
Beware! Scammers!
Never use ryanair car hire!I made a booking through ryanair to hire and Rentalcover.com a car with Hertz I paid for full cover, when I arrived they tried to sell me an expensive extra insurance and they said the one I bought is invalid. When I refused, they did not want to provide the car. I tried to contact Rian air, it was 2 oklock in the mornig ... never answer the phone. My holiday was finished by then. After numerous email exchanges, I had to pay extra insurance, 200. I send more e-mails and they even answered. Guys, a word of advice, stay away from this company as when there will be problems, you are on your own, read the reviews, there are many similar examples, it cost me three times more to rent another car from another provider at the airport because it was short notice.
Please read small print when booking…
Please read small print when booking car hire.
On our recent trip to Spain we booked car hire for 6 days. After trawling through all the cars we purchased car hire with OK Mobility. According to description there was no deposit required, no mileage limit and full insurance was taken out. Great!
On landing in Spain and proceeding to the rental desk we were told that they required a deposit of €1,000 in case of damage. My husband explained we'd taken cover out through Ryanair but was told this wasn't adequate. Basically, if he wanted peace of mind he needed to buy their insurance of €180. Yet another added cost, plus we had to leave a deposit of €100 in case the fuel tank wasn't full on return.
Tried numerous times to contact Ryanair via chat and e-mail but response was nothing do with car hire. Very frustrating to say the least. Will not be hiring again.
After booking my flight with Ryanair
After booking my flight with Ryanair, I alos booked my Car Hire in Italy, the flight was 2 1/2 Hours delayed, when I got to the Hire Desk I was told that I was classes as a no show, and the Car was gone, although at the time of Booking it asks for the flight number so that they can advise the Car Hire company of any delay.
The Car Hire company had a different vehicle, which would not be covered by the extra Insurance I had bought, so cost me £237 just for the insurance, (originally £40, + £167 original cost of hiring the Car) or they would not give me the Car, I tried to book through another company but there were no other Cars, I was still better of than the couple behind me, as they could not get a car until the next morning, thank you for all your help Ryanair NOT, As someone who travels the Uk for my job, I will certainly let my customeers know what I think of you.
Thanks for sending the £40.26 back for the insurance that I didnt use, that cost me for a non stirling trasaction also!
DO NOT BOOK A RENTAL CAR WITH YOUR FLIGHT
Booked a car rental from Ryanair whilst booking airline tickets. NEVER AGAIN! Pay a bit extra and use a respected rental car company! I booked a car from Prague airport months in advance. When I arrived at the airport the Panek car rental office was closed. I called the helpline number. They said that I didn't have a booking for a rental car. I said I have the reference number and confirmation. Their answer that number doesn't exist. I was then able to cancel the non existent booking? which somehow now existed and went with a proper company Sixt.
Avoid Alamo if booking in Milan…
Avoid Alamo if booking in Milan Malpensa. Its not real Alamo not worth the extra money. Booked car through Ryanair site. Booked a Jeep or similar SUV from Alamo, which was not the cheapest hire company on the site. On arriving at Malpensa came to know that Alamo is represented by Locauto. Staff of Locauto were very nice but the SUV was in fact a crossover, Fiat 500X. Might as well booked a cheaper car from Locauto.
Holiday car hire
I took car hire for my trip to Spain whilst booking my flights, whilst this was quick and convenient the car hire company was appalling. The extra insurance was not sufficient for the car hire company which wanted a huge payment for full cover. The hire company was off airport which was inconvenient and time consuming.
Also the car hire company [Drivalia] was an extremally bad experience.
Flight to Sicily delayed by 30 mins
Flight to Sicily delayed by 30 mins. Car hire partner closed on arrival. We rang at opening. Our car hire had been automatically cancelled, quoted us re-hire at 3 x the price.
Claimed t&c's allowed this because we did not advise delay in advance (we couldn't, we were on the Ryanair plane)
This isn't value, it's a money making scam
Do not do car hire through Ryanair
Do not do car hire through Ryanair, CDW insurance we paid extra for is not taken out with the car rental firm but a third party. Arrived to be asked for a further €1200 excess or pay twice as much again as had already paid for the entire hire cost for the car hire firms own insurance. It's sharp practice verging on scam tactics.
500 euro extra
Well, same as everyone else here. Do not use this platform!
I hired a car via Ryanair with Italy Car Rent. Paid for a full insurance through Rentalcover.com.
When I picked the car up, I needed another kind of credit card than the ones I have. Only solution: Pay 500 euro extra in insurance with the company Italy Car Rent works with... On top of the price I already paid: 800 euro for the car + 100 euro insurance (for a month).
I rented cars three times in Italy this year and also often elsewhere, and this was a first. My credit cards seem to work fine with other companies... The most expensive car rental ever. In January, I paid a third of the price and did not need another type of credit card. Also for at month.
Absolutely nasty experience, and I wasn't the only one with that problem in the queue.
Gutted! 500 euro is a lot of money for an insurance.
