Two Thumbs Down
I've been with Carchex since 2016, driving a 2014 Mercedes C250. Initially, they were fantastic, covering all my maintenance issues seamlessly. However, over the past two years, their service has deteriorated drastically. Now, every visit to the dealer leaves me paying more than half of the costs out of pocket. Spare yourself the frustration and disappointment. Do not purchase this warranty!!

After reading a reply from Carchex
After reading a reply from Carchex, I feel I had to reply back. I mentioned 2 claims and in both cases you avoid covering the repairs, as much as you could. On my first claim, your response was that some of the fixes that were involved with the repair weren't necessary, my agency was so embarrassed with the time spent dealing with your company that they covered the difference. The second claim was even worse, since we did exactly what your sales person asked in order to be covered by Carchex, meaning "make sure you go to an official agency for the repairs and quality of parts, to avoid further problems after the repairs". So, those resulted in not just paying for your warranty cost but also paying for the repairs, as mentioned on our first review. We paid with our own money for ORIGINAL parts and SERVICE. As you can read, there is nothing else to talk about it and contacting your company again. We just want to forget such a bad experience. It was an expensive cost that confirms that you can't be trusted, at least in my case. Your reply here doesn't fix the disappointment either, neither make you look as a responsible company when you had to at the time. To end this reply, when I was asked on the phone why I wanted to cancel the policy (due to those issues), as soon as I started explaining, I just heard "yadayadayada, Ok OK, never mind", that is why I was mentioning it was also a "rude" response from your company. As I mentioned by email to your agent, "I just wish you receive the same treatment you gave us".
BMW Extended warranty
The sales person was very friendly and answered my questions. He was very helpful. I am hoping that the warranty is just as good.

I called this company to get a price on…
I called this company to get a price on an extended warranty.
The sales group was high pressure to close me at that time.
After this I received phone calls every hour from different phone numbers pressuring me to get a warranty.
I will never use this company as the sales tactics are horrible. If they are this high pressure I cannot imagine how hard it would to have repair covered.
The sales team is horrible.
Extended Warranties are a Rip off.
I learned from experience what financial advisors Dave Ramsey and Suze Orman said, "Extended warranties are a rip off." I would have done better by putting the $3,000.00 I paid CarChex into a savings account and I would have earned interest. I also would have the money to pay cash for my car's repair. I had problems with my 2019 Cadillac XTS. The total cost for the repair was $3,332.74. CarChex/American Auto Shield paid only $946.45. I had to pay the balance of $2,385.74 I paid CarChex $3,000.00 upfront several years ago, and this is the first time I have filed a claim.
Be warned about parts
Started a claim on my vehicle with CarChex. I have been paying $109.99 monthly for warranty coverage. My claim was denied because the part in question on the transmission was not covered even though I am paying for "Bumper -to- Bumper" (Powertrain Plus) coverage on my vehicle. The total charge for part and repair is $829.47. To date I have made a total of $879.92 which would have covered the cost of the repair. Why should I continue to pay for "Bumper -to- Bumper" coverage when my contract with CARCHEX does not honor the coverage. It would be better for me to take the $109.99 and put it into savings, thus when I needed a repair, I can pay for it myself which is what I am doing NOW. My warning " Carchex covers your engine and transmission but do not cover parts that are associated with making those item work well and that is the catch. Thus, you will be responsible for the part and labor for that part or parts. for example, if a sensor went out that caused your engine not to run or blow fuses. You are responsible for the repairs and parts because it's not the engine. and the cost could be substantial.
Don't give them your phone number
Don't give them your phone number, they will keep calling and continuously press to take the same offer, even though I told them at least 5/6 times that I am not interested in, they kept calling me.
STAY AWAY FROM CARCHEX
STAY AWAY FROM CARCHEX! I'd give them a ZERO if possible. For starters, the sales rep and their written policy states that you can go to the dealer. However according to CARCHEX customer service, the policy does not cover OEM parts, just aftermarket. News flash, the dealer doesn't use aftermarket. I had a claim three months after the policy started and they denied the claim because my mechanic didn't have my correct mileage documentation. Obviously whoever worked on my car, had someone's information on the screen, typed over with my info but forgot to change the mileage. When the inspector arrived all he did was complain that i filed a claim. Then CARCHEX said my mechanic REFUSED to nearly dismantle my entire engine, do a leakdown test, oil consumption test etc. Who was going to pay for all that labor if the claim was denied!? These people are ridiculous. My mechanic had the turbo ready to show the inspector where it had an internal seal leaking. This third party adjustor asked who authorized that work? I said how else are you going to know what the problem is unless you diagnose the problem in order to file a claim? These people kept giving us different answers.
Working with American Auto Shield is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would give carcheck zero star for…
I would give carcheck zero star for there coverage and business. Stay away from them. Their coverage is misleading. I purchased the extended warranty for $5,000 which it should be the best. My car broke down, and I had it towed to the dealership; I filled a claim, and to my disappointment, the bill was $1,600; they paid only $600; I had to pay $955 out of my pocket; the reason? they won't match the dealership labor rate (they pay only half the rate), they would pay only a certain amount for the parts.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY; THEY ARE LIARS AND CROOKS.
Stay away from this company
Stay away from this company! They continue charging monthly fees for the car that you sold and refuse to give a refund! Very rude customer service! Thankfully nothing happened to the car before we sold it because I guarantee they would find anything to get out of paying the claim! Horrible company!
Great Representatives
The salesman that I spoke to was very helpful and was able to set me up at a price that I could afford and with the coverage that I wanted.
Reputable and trustworthy
Reputable and trustworthy. They honored the warranty I purchased when my Dodge Challenger was beginning to break down. Definitely have earned a customer!
Stop and do not waste your money
The claims for Carchex are handled through American auto shield and their claim adjusters will do absolutely everything to not pay a claim or deny the full amount. You will pay way more than your deductible and their roadside assistance is the absolute worst
Not recommended
Do not get this. They will not pay for hardly anything. And when they will, no one will accept them.
Avoid Carchex. Use Toco
When I took out the warranty in April of 23. I gave the gentleman my mileage of 188,230 MILES. He wrote it down is 18,000 and something miles. So when I had problems with my vehicle and I took it to the Chevy dealership. Well when they call me from the dealership to tell me what was wrong with my vehicle it blew my mind. I just knew that they would not pay for the repairs but I called them and the gentleman I spoke with is will you have the Royal plan. And your cost of repairs is about $8,000 and you're covered up to $15,000. Call them back and tell them to file a claim. He made the remark is I don't know how you got the Royal plan but you did. Tell them to run with it. My mechanic called me back 2 Days later and said they refused to pay for it because the discrepancy in the mileage. Cuz by this time my car has 190 something thousand. Keep in mind this is a 2010 Chevy Traverse can anyone out there find that vehicle with only $18,000 miles on there if you can buy it! So I was talking to them at car checks they refuse to let me speak to a supervisor. I asked him can you not just put me on a lesser plan that I could at least get some of the work done with I mean you have my money I've been paying every month. Well they told me they would have someone call me back there was a gentleman called me back the following morning and said that we found a plan for your vehicle and he told me what it was and it would cover the majority of everything wrong with my vehicle but it would not cover pre-existing conditions. I said it's only a pre-existing conditions because you're an idiot messed up. By this time I was getting very angry. And I told him this is now I would be stupid of me to pay you $200 and something dollars a month for something I can't use because I have a vehicle I cannot drive. They did refund my money for all the payments I had made. But I am stuck with the vehicle that has transmission and motor problems. And I took it in because it was smoking I didn't know there was any transmission problems at all. So stay away from carchex warranty. Always go to the better Business Bureau site and read reviews left there you will get the honest ones.
