The discussion was interesting and…

The discussion was interesting and informative.
However the material received beforehand led me to believe that there would be a discussion about advocacy efforts to reduce the mandatory income withdrawal in RRIF's and I did not hear the topic addressed directly.

I appreciate the effort and the qualifications of the panel m3embers.
The fact that the voices were not in synch with the speakers' mouths was distracting.
I was disappointed that the first 80 minutes were devoted to discussing th4e qualifications and shortcomings of financial advisors. There was little time at the end to deal with answers to the two questions that were supposed to be the focus:
Will seniors have enough money to last their life times?
How can younger people prepare for their later years?
Neither of these were adequately dealt with.

It provided me with an important perspective that I had not really been aware of previously.
I have now made an appointment to meet with my Financial Advisor next week given what I learned today.
I always deal directly rather than take the risk of online financial interactions

Excellent guests and very thorough coverage of the topic. Interesting to hear the younger experts and to learn a lot about financial planning and current economic realities.

Not what I was expecting

Not what I was expecting. I thought that it would provide insight into living arrangements for people who may not be able toafford retirement home options when needed. maybe you could provide that in the future. Also, it seems that young people today seem to want the higher quality of life than we had. EX. expensive trips today. It used to be you worked hard to afford a house. Only after that, maybe in your retirement, you could then afford a sought after trip!

I only watched an hour

I only watched for an hour as I was getting tired of it. During that period, the discussion veered way off into the weeds too often and it didn't address the main themes that were mentioned in the emails promoting the panel.

OK but a bit boring

I waited 45 minutes for my question to be answered and no one addressed it. At the time I left the meeting no questions had been answered whatsoever. I did not find it very interesting.

Happy with CARP

I joined CARP about two years ago. I can't say enough positive things about CARP. I find the monthly meetings educational, health preventative and inspiring. Our Chair person is well organized, kind and attentive to the individual needs. Is it perfect? Of course not. Is this organization for everyone? Probably not. Members complain about the benefits, I personally did not join CARP for the benefits but to meet new people and socialize. CARP can do better with the support of the members. Come to the meetings, express your concerns or suggestions. Join the board and the results will be greater.

CARP's motto seems to be "Behind making…

CARP's motto seems to be "Behind making money, our seniors come first." This is an outrageous organization which preys on Seniors. First I signed up for a cell phone plan recommended by CARP and discovered that my 100 minutes included in comming calls. I switched to an other service which only charge for outgoing. Secondly, I wrote to CARP in regards to their sponsorship of Hearing Life and pointed out to them that since October 2022 you could purchase the same hearing aids with the same level of service for close to half the price. I asked them if they were truly interested in supportiniors Seniors, why hadn't they lobbied the goverment to allow for over the counter hearing aids which were available in the US. Unsurprisingly, they din't respond. Thirdly, they sold they client list to a major tobacco company trying to research Seniors likelihood to purchase cancer producing Vaping products. These are three examples, but I am sure their are more. Stay away. It looks a big money machine for Moses Znaimer.

No help from CARP

CARP, in my opinion is useless.
I contacted them about a year ago asking for help.
They said that they would advocate for my family who lost a loved one because she was abandoned by a worker of a for profit health care agency.
They did arrange a meeting with a government employee, but nothing ever happened because of that meeting.
I attended a CARP meeting were I was told that I could not speak to the minister of longterm care, even after the meeting.
The company who had employed the worker who abandoned our loved one had a booth set up at that meeting.
I was left with the impression that the only advocacy that would be done would be done by myself.
