Rates are way too high

This entire experience was a scam, plain and simple. CarTrawler and CarWiz are scammers who took my money, gave me nothing, and left me completely abandoned.

I booked a car through CarTrawler with pickup by CarWiz. The voucher stated a shuttle would collect me from the airport at 8:00 AM. I arrived on time and waited — no shuttle, no sign, no staff. Then I went to the listed office location — and there was nothing. It was clearly a fake address.

I tried every phone number provided. No one answered. I emailed both companies — no reply. I had to arrange my own transport and pay extra out of pocket.

Later, I contacted CarTrawler requesting a refund. They ignored me entirely. Because more than 90 days had passed since the payment, I couldn’t even dispute the charge with my bank.

This wasn’t an error or oversight. This was intentional. CarTrawler enables scammers like CarWiz, collects your money, and vanishes the moment things go wrong. If you’re thinking of booking through them — don’t. You will get scammed.

Let me be clear: CarTrawler and CarWiz Rent a Car are running a scam. I booked a car through CarTrawler with clear instructions that a shuttle would pick me up from the airport at 8:00 AM. I arrived early and waited — but no one came. No sign, no name board, no rep, nothing.

I walked around the airport for nearly an hour, then went to the “CarWiz location” listed on the voucher. What I found was shocking — it was a fake location. No desk. No signage. No one there. It looked like they never operated there in the first place.

I called all the numbers I was given — no answer. I emailed CarTrawler and CarWiz — no response at all. I was completely stranded and had to pay extra to get to my hotel with zero support from either company.

When I tried to get a refund, CarTrawler ignored me. And because it had been over 90 days since I paid, my bank couldn’t help either. They got my money and gave me nothing in return.

This is not bad service. This is not a mistake. This is theft. This is a full-on scam. CarTrawler is enabling fake companies like CarWiz to prey on travelers and abandon them after taking their money. If you value your time, safety, and money — do not book with them.

The card was not working on their system and therefore they cancelled the booking

The worst company first time and last time, I had a very bad experience with, my plan arrived att 6.30 morning and I have been send them my flight number day before but when I landed I tried to call and call but no one answered me until 8.00 o'clock and the said they open 8 and they don't give any service before that time, and I been waiting until 8.30, when we came to the office because the office is located 15 min from the airport they let me payed extra insurance who I already payed when I make my reservation, plus the car was not clean and they told me I should leave back the car clean and last thing until now I did not get any thing back to my credit. Please don't tack car from this company

The best option you can choose is to go to any other car company, we arrived with our car reservation made a few months before but when we got there they did not want to give us the car, it seems that it was better to give it to another person who was charged much more for it, the excuse they gave us was that the credit cards we had were not valid, after losing almost a day trying to give us the car by calling the banks which confirmed that everything was perfect, they only insisted on cancelling our reservation but we did not want to. In conclusion we had to go to another company which was the best option, this company certified us that none of our cards had any problems and they did not want to give us the car. They destroyed all our travel plans, please go to another company do not risk your holiday with them.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. The worst car rental place I have ever been to. Instructions for pick up were completely wrong and it was only due to the kindness of someone at Avis that we were able to figure out where we were going. The lady at the desk (Esma) was rude and had an awful attitude, and told us it was compulsory to charge insurance (even when I told her it wasn’t in the terms and conditions). She tried our card (which had money on it) so many times that it locked itself at risk of fraud. Couldn’t agree more that this company is a fraud to be honest. An absolute load of shit.

It is now 4 months later and we still haven’t received our deposit back. They don’t reply to any messages, emails, calls, we’ve been trying to reach them since october 2024… Worst car rental company we have ever used.

If you are going to use this company remember to bring a credit card that is not Amex with you, or you will have problems hiring the vehicle. I had to give a deposit on my debit card that took 3 months to get back. I contacted Carwiz 4 times with no response. Carjet were very helpful and got the money back.

Carwiz is a scam! Do not book with this company, they charged a £500 deposit and we have not had anything back from them, they dodge your calls, messages and emails. They also try to scam you at the desk with additional charges. Tread very carefully and make sure to get documentation for everything so you can build a case if anything goes wrong but I'd just avoid them at all costs!

Do not use this company ! I left a deposit for the car hire and was told all was ok and I would be refunded. I will am waiting for my €350 !

Do not use this company under any circumstances
As a retired businessman, I have rented cars probably in the region of 250 times. These have varied in quality but this Carwiz Dalaman rental was the worse by a considerable margin. They failed in their duty of support, were threatening, have stolen money and told lies.
My car rental was for 18 days from Dalaman airport, booked online through Carjet. The problems started almost immediately. I’m used to the hard sell for collision damage insurance but these guys told untruths about my liability, threatened to cancel my rental and were unpleasant and ill mannered in the extreme. They eventually conceded when I showed them the Carjet rental agreement but it took a long time and I left with the car pretty stressed out and upset.
My problems were only beginning. I drove to my destination about 3 hours away from Dalaman. In the morning I noticed both front tyres had lost pressure. On close inspection both tyres were found to have no tread and had damage to the sides. I took the car to a tyre shop with a good reputation – they told me both tyres were beyond repair, were dangerous and illegal – if I were stopped by the police they would have prevented me driving!! I contacted Carwiz who told me they would seek permission for me to purchase 2 new tyres. Days passed before they responded. They refused to replace the tyres, refused to give me any local help and insisted I drive a 1 day round trip back to Dalaman. I pointed out that that they should be able to provide a local service AND that the tyres were in a dangerous condition. Again they refused to help and were again ill mannered.
In addition, two warning lights came on – oil and air filter. Again they refused to help.
After a few more days one of the tyres failed completely. I tried to put the spare on but the equipment to change the tyre was missing! Again, I asked for help – the car was broken down – again they refused. I had no choice but to contact and pay for a breakdown service and pay for 2 new tyres.
When I returned the car, I left the invoices for the breakdown service and 2 new tyres and was told head office would process a payment to me. It is now almost 3 months, I have yet to receive the money. To add insult to injury, they have also not returned the 2 hundred euro damage deposit!! The have ignored multiple emails and Whats App messages.
These guys are a nightmare and also appear to have stolen my deposit. Terrible!!!

Never rent a car here!! they don't pay your deposit back!

Please beware of this company. Deposit of €500 was charged to my card and only refunded nearly 3 months later after numerous phone calls to the company and Carjet who I made the booking through. I had taken out the extra insurance through carjet and received confirmation that the €500 deposit will NOT charged but only blocked on my credit card. I am greatly disappointed and do not recommend that you hire from this dishonest company.

Hi I just want to let people know when I rent a car from here they charge me €500 deposit if you got another companies they only charge you under euro it’s been more than 23 days. I still couldn’t get my deposit back now they saying another week, get never from this company again they don’t pay back deposit. It’s a really big headache every day. Tell me same story not payback.

Very friendly staff, super helpful & we got the exact car we requested with no faults! Would highly recommend.

Nice employees perfect cars

If you wish to live all bad events which make a car rental a nightmare, just go to Carwiz. At my pickup in Antalya:
Nobody to pick me up to their office, contrary to what was written in the voucher. 5 phone calls and one hour later I reached the office.
Car category booked not available, I go an old car in poor condition (tyres used over the limit, very dangerous).
Fuel closed to the low limit (recorded as such, but you need to quickly find a station in an unknown place)
Deposit debited from my account, never refunded although no problem recorded when I returned the car.
Unpleasant people behind the desk.
A real nightmare.
