Chaplins Furniture delivered a truly…

Chaplins Furniture delivered a truly first-class experience from start to finish. I ordered a pair of Gubi lights which arrived within two weeks, perfectly packaged and in immaculate condition. Every member of the team I dealt with – from the knowledgeable sales staff to the efficient warehouse and delivery crew – was exceptionally helpful, courteous and professional.

A genuinely delightful place to shop for design-led furniture and lighting. Five stars, without hesitation.

Dreadful service from this company.

Dreadful service from this company... I bought a very expensive large Max Alto coffee table from them and in less than SIX months the table’s surface has faded VERY badly around the areas where objects stood. Chaplins have refused to do anything to help. They suggested I pay for a French polisher to fix it. I’m sorry but after spending nearly £7k on a coffee table and for it to fade to this extent in such a short space of time is totally unacceptable. I came to their showroom and sent them photos of my house before purchasing and never once did they advise me that this might happen... Be wary of buying from a company that leaves their customers in the cold when something is sub-standard…

To clarify, the coffee table was purchased by your interior designer, who had access to all product specifications and was best placed to offer guidance on suitable placement and care. The table in question is crafted in a natural wenge wood veneer which, like all timber, is sensitive to prolonged exposure to sunlight. In this instance, the fading is most visible around areas where books or magazines were left in the same position for an extended period of time, preventing the surface beneath from being equally exposed. This has resulted in a contrast that is typical of UV-related wood discolouration.

Upon receiving your concerns, we escalated the matter to Maxalto, who reviewed the issue in line with their warranty terms. They confirmed that the fading observed is consistent with the table being positioned in a room with large windows and no UV protection - something that was also confirmed by two independent specialists. All have advised that the wood has not deteriorated due to a manufacturing fault, but rather due to natural sun exposure.

We appreciate this is frustrating and have tried to assist by providing your interior designer details of a reputable French polisher who can help restore the surface. We also shared expert recommendations for preventing future fading, including the use of voile curtains or UV film.

While we always aim to offer the highest level of service, we are unable to override the manufacturer’s assessment or offer warranty support in cases where the issue falls outside of their agreed terms.

Should you decide to go ahead with restoration, we would be more than happy to assist in coordinating this with your interior designer.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Chaplins for a bespoke library and wardrobe installation in my home, and I couldn't be happier with the results! From the very first consultation, Nilgun provided amazing service, demonstrating a deep understanding of my vision and needs. Her attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship truly set Chaplins apart.

The design process was collaborative and enjoyable, with Nilgun taking the time to ensure every aspect was perfect. When it came time for the installation, the team was punctual, professional, and left my home spotless. The library has become my favorite space—a cozy haven filled with beautifully crafted shelves that perfectly showcase my collection. DeSede Chairs

I had purchased 2No. Desede electric armchairs from Chaplins. Unfortunately one of the chairs electric movements stopped working. I contacted Desede for replacement batteries, which they had provided to me in the past. This time they said that they no longer supplied directly to the customer. I therefore contacted Chaplins and I was quoted £575.00 for 2No new batteries which was for shipping, customs and import duties from Switzerland and I would need to collect from their warehouse. I went online and found that I could purchase the same two new batteries in the UK and delivered to me for £33.45. I told Chaplins that their charge appeared completely ridiculous. I tried sending a message to Ms Monika Walser the CEO of Desede through their website for comment, who has so far failed to respond to me .

We want to assure you that we only supply authorised parts directly from the manufacturer. The quoted price reflects the costs set by the manufacturer, which include shipping, customs, and import duties from Switzerland.

We cannot comment on the quality or lifespan of the batteries you found online, but we are pleased that you were able to find a solution within your budget. We hope they will meet your needs effectively.

No sofa, no refund. Beware of this company!

Ordered a sofa. 14 months later, still no sofa, no updates, just apologies and demands for more patience. I’ve asked for a refund which they said they would process immediately. Over two weeks now and still nothing. No sofa, no refund. This is just outrageous. This is my last attempt to give them a chance to fix this before I take legal action.

Update: after posting this they did reach out to process the refund. The situation has been resolved.
