Poor business practices

Poor business practices, borderline illegal. Paid £0.50 for a report and a very misleading pop-up window caused me to be charged a further £14.99 without any confirmation required. The pop-up tricks you into clicking continue quickly to proceed to the report but then immediately starts processing additional fee without any way of cancelling once in progress. I have immediately clicked back on the website to stop this, but it hasn’t worked and payment was processed nonetheless. I did not intend to get any upgrades and do not require this service, I have unsubscribed immediately to prevent any further loss of money and have now emailed the support requesting a refund. Do not use this service or be very careful to not get overcharged by accident and please make sure you unsubscribe from the services after paying the £0.50 as they do not make it clear that there are further charges after the initial small payment.

Avoid !

Halfords, Manchester Road, Bolton. I took my car for MOT and full service. Failed the MOT due to brake pads being less than 1.5mm. ?? The brakes were working perfectly, no screeching sounds, no grinding noises, nothing. I was contacted to say you are unable to drive the car away as the brakes has failed. I felt like I was held to ransom until I agreed to have them changed,(pads) along with the discs. The windscreen wiper was noted as "defective" but was only an advisory. The rubber had completely come away from the metal, and this was only advisory!!!! A full service was done, and a total of almost £700 for the works carried out. When I got home the engine warning light was still showing for the stop /start feature on my car. This is a couple of weeks in spending over £100 for a battery, I
rang Halfords who said it was electrical fault and they can get an auto electrician in to take a look and to return it to the garage. I asked a friend (who is a master tech mechanic), he knew exactly what the fault was, not electrical , ran his diagnostic computer and the fault was identified, reset and cleared. He also checked the oil on dipstick. Just to see if that had been changed! It was showing a little high up the dipstick and where the engine oil had been poured in, oil had been left in the rim & outer well of the cap. Certainly didn't look like a professional job. Whoever poured in the oil, was not careful on where it went! I feel very let down by Halfords. Definitely will not recommend and will never be returning.

Kwik Fit are always reliable. They carry out the work expected - and on time!
Despite having owned many different makes of car, I have always entrusted my servicing / MOT to Kwik Fit rather than a franchised garage.
Pricing is very competitive and their work is first class!
