I have bought four Canterbury hats over the years, three under the previous owners and one under the new owner. Most importantly, the quality of the felt and the shaping of the hats are identical. Somewhat disappointingly, the newest hat was made with less lining fabric. In the older hats, the lining flowed into the brim's creases, providing more "breathing room" in the crown. The lining in the new hat does not hug my skull, but is tighter.

Some other differences between the past and the present: First, Christy's reclassified the Canterbury from a trilby to a fedora. The brim is wider than that of many trilbies and narrower than that of many full fedoras. The new designation will probably only matter to prior customers trying to find the model on the new website. Second, ordering time is now faster. Previously, hats were made to order, and it took a week or so from payment before shipping or pickup at their shop (now closed, I think?) on St. Christopher's Place in London. The new owners seem to have hats ready to ship as soon as the order is received. Third, perhaps due to this change in order-and-manufacturing practice, there is less selection. My first hat was in chocolate brown and came with a blue band. That version can still be purchased with some customization. My second and third hats were light putty with a brown band and dark blue-grey (think wet flagstone) with a blue band. These are no longer available. I can understand the need, but I also get quite a bit of use out of the putty hat in early fall and spring.

Fab service, great quality hats. Overall experience has improved since the take over of the brand. And its nice to see that they are offering repairs on hat's that need some TLC

I have longed for an authentic Panama for years. I now have a Christie’s Panama which is admired by all ‘those in the know’ who travel. The red crested tube packaging is exceptional as is the hat. I can 100% recommend the product.

Christys hats are peerless. Great fits, quality materials, long lasting. Real craftsmanship and well worth paying for. Most recently I bought a tweed flat cap from them. Definitely the best flat cap I’ve ever had. Then it fell out of my pocket and I lost it. I’ll be buying another to replace it right away.

I am a big fan of the panamas. I have a multitude in different shapes and colours. I recently bought the Ibiza and another neutral coloured one, they are both gorgeous. Arrived promptly and fit perfectly. I would love to see some additional colours. I’ll be back next year for more!
