Cicek Gallery is a digital independent art gallery founded by one of its resident artists, Berfin Cicek. The gallery represents emerging artists yet to be discovered by the world. Cicek recognises that the art world can be very challenging for ambitious artists. Her aim is to handpick artists on the journey of becoming established and to give them the exposure and value that they deserve. In particular, Cicek has witnessed the financial barriers and lack of opportunities that ambitious artists face within the industry. She seeks to challenge this and is keen to represent artists of different ethnic minorities, sexual orientations and female artists in a bid to blend out these imbalances. Cicek also wants to upturn how galleries meet artists’ needs. Their lack of accessibility and acquisitive commission structures have made the art world only more challenging for the creators. Her two intentions are to be in favour of artists, while being the platform where real artists meet real buyers. The gallery will rotate between ten artists a year of different styles and genres. This will give the opportunity for the gallery to only work with the best emerging artists, allowing each artist to gain the exposure they require and at the same time enabling the buyers to invest in carefully curated pieces.
