Extremely Disappointing Experience
I recently had one of the most disappointing experiences with Cigna, and I feel it’s important to warn others.
After searching through the Cigna app, I found a clinic and a doctor listed as “in-network.” I made an appointment exactly as instructed. However, when I arrived, the doctor told me he no longer works with Cigna — specifically because they were extremely slow in reimbursing him and he had a very hard time recovering his money.
As a result, he refused to accept my Cigna insurance and told me I had to pay out of pocket. This is completely unacceptable. If a provider is shown as in-network in Cigna’s own platform, customers should not be put in this position. It’s misleading, unprofessional, and shows how poorly maintained their network information is.
Cigna failed to provide even the most basic reliability and accuracy. Instead of supporting their clients, they create stress, confusion, and financial inconvenience. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Cigna to anyone.
I’ve had one of the worst experiences possible with Cigna. Their service is far below acceptable standards, and I would not recommend them to anyone. Communication is almost nonexistent, response times are ridiculously long, and when they finally do reply, the information is incomplete or contradictory. Their processes are unnecessarily complicated, giving the impression that they are doing everything they can to avoid taking responsibility for basic services.
Instead of providing real support, they create additional frustration and leave you waiting without any valid explanation. The level of professionalism is close to zero. For a company that is supposed to handle people’s health and peace of mind, the way they treat customers is simply unacceptable.
I would not recommend Cigna — not even as a last resort.

Agents provide low-quality responses
The sales executive misinformed me about the availability of prescriptions for the preexisting condition so that I would purchase the policy. Will likely consider a different insurance, because I don't like to feel like a fool. Hope you're happy about your commission, Alexander.
I decided to clarify the question again with my account manager after the purchase, but the onboarding and their response took long enough for me to pay two months in premium before I got a clear response.
Also, way too many files and resources you have to review to even figure out your policy. I read over a hundred pages of guides and PDFs.

My first contact with Daniela Brand was May 2024.
From 1999 till 2018 my company insured me with CIGNA
As I planned to retire in 2026, I asked Cigna the conditions for a private insurance
I spoke with Daniela and was already impressed with her positive attitude
In September of 2024, she contacted me to follow up about my (and my wife) health insurance plans
One year later October 2025 I contacted her again to make a final decision compared to other insurers.
Thanks to her professionalism I decided to contract my insurance with Cigna.
I am also in the hospitality industry for the past 47 years and Daniela knows what guest service all is about.
